@sidpheasant7585

But the strength of this music (first developed by the composer Saint-Saens) is not confined to the past, as you feel it now. There is a good reason for that - the power of the Holy Spirit which Jesus promised would not leave us. They specifically tell us not to be scared, but to have faith (even as we do note the evil on the world).

Little did these people know that eighteen years later, this song and tune would be adopted as the tune for the one of the best movies ever, "Babe". And by then, everyone would have forgotten the composer who wrote the tune in the first place in 1886.
@toddthedrysocket
@toddthedrysocket 9 жыл бұрын
While I agree that "Babe" is one of the finest movies ever, it is not true that Saint-Saëns is forgotten by "everyone" - his name is familiar to the public which listens to classical music on the radio - a minority avocation, admittedly. I assume that is Jonathan Hodge in the hat, counting off the beat in in the beginning, who paired these words with the composer's tune. In the movie, the tune affirms life, despite its temporary and ultimately tragic nature.

The film BABE is an *absolute masterpiece* on it's own, and one of favorite films of all time, but I think it would have failed had it not been for the adaptation of one little bit from Saint-Saëns' Symphony No 3 in C minor, Op 78. When my husband and I could legally marry in 2015, this was played as the 'last dance' at our celebration. Saint-Saëns may be forgotten by many but not all!!

Beautifully melodic and ageless song-of-the-heart. A bit puzzling that they sang the song to a Reggae Rhythm and African Bongo drums with a Calypso Bass-Line which is a strange combination in itself. But I don't think it sounded at all "cheesy" as I have heard many of a "false" Reggae track in my time. Then the song builds with the Introduction of strings in the 2nd movement accompanied by trumpets and violins in the 3rd then at the top of the song in the 4th movement comes the organ strengthening a heart warming emotion. The Choir beautifully blended in and Scott really lets go and puts the effort in closing out the song on the higher octave bringing the song to a whole new level! Simply Beautiful!

Oh my goodness, I've not heard this since I was about 9/10 years old, for some reason I always associated it as being a reggae song, thanks so much, this bring back many happy memories

Quite an extraordinary record really - the same words and the same tune all the way through, and yet - it works. And yes, Scott Fitzgerald had (has?) an incredible voice. Shame he hasn't had more success over the years.

A song from my youth, that was a big hit in the Netherlands. Yvonne Keeley is a Dutch singer whose real name is Yvonne Paay. Later she worked for a radio station. However we should forget that the melody is from the third symphony by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns.
