it’s really a shame with the outsoles on so many “super” trail shoes… i live in upper new york state and conditions are almost constantly rocky, muddy, root-y, leaf covered- lots of stream crossings etc etc and these 3 mm lugged shoes really struggle a bit- it’s like every shoe is designed specifically for UTMB or Hardrock or some of the Western US races where the terrain is vastly different .

An interesting review of a shoe brand that is not as common as some others. I agree with you Loyd that for its purpose & retail cost the shoe is too heavy. If you think the weight is in the midsole, then Scott need to do some more development in that department if they want to sell it as a fast trail option.

Just ordered the Xodus ultra for my rotation. Decided to go with the runshield version for this winter and beyond! Hopefully I have a great experience with them like you have! Curious how the runshield offering differs from the original. Have you tried it by chance? Edit: I put this comment in before I saw the end! Haha

I think there is some benifits when your running on the road over distance. However I'm not convinced we need carbon plates in our trail running shoes? 🤔 Thanks for watching 🙏

@@Run4Adventure I think there is a benefit in more rolling terrain If you are a faster runner...basically I agree with you as the majority will neither be fast enough to have a real benefit (win races) and the terrain is not only rolling for the most part, at least not mine :)

Trails are soft no matter even if its dry and carbon plates need hard surface to propel you so it's a waste of money on trails.
