For the back piece that attaches to the van, how did you get that to angle back to 90 degrees to get the cabinets to lay flat? About to start my second build and going to use 8020 so your videos are very helpful!

I am preparing to install my upper cabinet also. I have been following your build because you are using 8020. The issue of the angle between the wall and the ceiling of all vans has been on my mind, and I am intrigued by your solution. Many people have cut spacers at an angle to help with this. Have you run into any downside to your method so far? I am fanatical about squeaks and rattles and the fact that your 8020 against the wall and ceiling can’t be perfectly flush makes me wonder about noises. Can you share any more about your results so far?

When I first bought 80/20 it was the 10 series or 1" instead of the bigger stuff. It's so strong I thought the 15 series would be overkill and the 10 series is cheaper too. I got frustrated though and went back to Baltic Birch. I've seen lots of good examples now, including yours, to attempt to use it again. I feel the 1.5" is overkill still but simple things like your hinges for the overhead seem to line up with the channels for mounting. Is that just coincidence? Did you ever attempt to use the 10 series. I'd like to start working on my pile of it.

I love referring to your channel when I have a question on my build, like how to compensate for the slope of the side wall on a Sprinter when installing an 80/20 side rail for upper cabs. Just give a little leeway when tightening and then crank it down when fully assembled. Nice to follow you trailblazers. 😎

Do yiu think there will be any issues with the bottom rail having that tension in it? I'm about to start on my overheads but haven't figured out a way to get that bottom rail square. I may well take your approach, I'm just worried about the bolts or rivnuts failing over time due to the tension in them? Loving the channel, been very useful for me!

Great to get this info! It is the best way to build a framework, much better, stronger, lighter, and more elegant than wood. Easier but pricier. Great tip about the beveled bottom rod. Please keep camera on the project, not on you. Its distracting to have it go back and forth, and we need to see what you are talking about - all those tech details. 95% on project, 5% on you. When speaking about the connection details, please show the connection and rails. Camera should be on them so we see what you are saying. I did not comprehend much of what you said since camera was not on project. Too bad.

@douggraham5812
@douggraham5812 4 ай бұрын
You could do that, but a better idea would be to only install paneling where your cabinets are not. Saves weight and material. Use a piece of flexible acrylic bent around to be the back and top of the cabinet to hide the insulation and stuff behind it.
