I am a MACKINTOSH Australian born and my Grandfather Henry Sinclair Mackintosh was born in County Derry Ireland. When i asked him how come? He explained that after Cullodin with so many of the Clan killed, a lot that survived fled to Northern Ireland. Even though I’m Australian born of Australian parents, i must say that the skirl of the pipes does some pretty weird things to my body. This still happens to me at 83.

My great great grandmother is Isabella McINTOSH, born 10 Jul 1838 in Millnain, Fodderty, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland and died 19 Mar 1878 in Queensland, Australia. She married Thomas BIRCH on 17 Jan 1862 in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia.

When my family immigrated to the U.S. 300+ years ago, they kept the Clan Chattan system alive for 5 or 6 generations in America. My family tree is full of great-grandmothers from these clans: MacThomas, MacQueen, Shaw, MacPherson, and MacIntosh. I'm a Scots-American through and through. :-)

I hope someone might answer this question. My grandmother was surnamed Elder, and descended of Highland Scotts exiled to Ulster, then migrated to what became the United States. The Elders were septs of this clan. Might one of their descendants be considered for membership in some clan organization outside Scottland?

Thankyou for sharing. I am St.lucian and I don't know much about my father's side of the family. I've been looking for information but it has been unsuccessful. My grandmother was Catherine (Katherine ) Victoria Mcintosh from Scotland from the puss in boots clan who had a relationship with a black man from Trinidad named Dudley Codrignton. He is also related to the Codringtons from Scotland who owned plantations in the Caribbean (Antigua, Barbuda and Barbados ). Will you be able to help me out with some info please?
