Katheryn S, I never knew Portland is where the Wizard of Oz lives. LOL
@katheryns12192 жыл бұрын
@@jimgreen5788 No, Portland is the Rose City. Seattle is Emerald City. Here's the explanation from Widipedia: "The Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau held a contest in 1981 to find a new nickname for Seattle. The winning entry, 'Emerald City', came from Sarah Sterling-Franklin of Carmel, California, whose submission described the city as 'the jewel of the Northwest, the Queen of the Evergreen State, the many-faced city of space, elegance, magic and beauty.'[1] 'Emerald City' is also a reference to the fictional capital of the Land of Oz in the book series by L. Frank Baum." Of course, Portland has basically the same climate with similar greenery but already had a nickname, so dubbed in 1905 because people were rose-crazy. Other nicknames: Stumptown (from when the area was first settled, and trees were cleared) and Rip City (so named during the Trailblazer's first season by play-by-play announcer Bill Shonely during a game against the Lakers in 1971).

I just finished reading your email of June 6th about your fun travels in San Antonio and Houston. I grew up in a small town about 200 miles south of San Antonio. Young Texans are taught Texas history before they learn anything about US history. I've been to the Alamo countless times, and I'm so happy to hear not only did you get to visit the Alamo, but you had such a wonderful private tour. Because I live in Colorado I will not get to meet you during this trip, but I sure hope to during another future trip you might make to the US. I did visit Scotland in 1996: started in Edinburgh and finished in Inverness at Culloden Battlefield. I hope to return again. Lastly, I would like to conclude by reassuring you that I will continue to watch your vlogs because they do accomplish much with bridging different groups of people from different countries. You and your wife have every right to visit our wonderful USA, especially Texas. Anytime is a good time to visit the USA.

I saw someone comment on the four way stop saying the person to the right has the right of way. Which is sometimes true. The person who arrives first has the right of way. So if you arrive at a stop and there are cars already in the other directions, you let them go first, then it's your turn. Butf you arrive at the SAME time, then the person on the right goes first.
