He BEST way to have root beer is to have a root beer float. It is a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a frosty glass mug of root beer. I recomend that you pour 3/4 glass full of the root beer then put the ice cream in. Don't know if you still read your posts, but I just discovered your channel and wanted to comment first on the root beer. You put vanilla ice cream in cold root beer (no ice just keep it in fridge) that is a root beer float. It's good. I was born and raised in Panama City, Florida. We truly had the world's most beautiful beaches when I was growing up. I'm an old lady now, but my first memories of the beach were that the sand was like white sugar and you could see the ocean bottom because the water was blue/green. As I grew up, condos and hotels began to line the coast and the beaches became darker and had sea weed. Hurricane Michael and Hurricane Opal came a few years ago and devastated the beaches and homes. But my husband and I now live in Georgia and I agree with you about the humidity in Florida! It's horrible!!! God bless!

I cringed when you were dipping the Dorritos into the salsa! Try the salsa with plain tortilla chips instead ;-). Fun fact: my dad used to work at Frito Lay and he was assigned to the Dorritos department! He brought home plenty while I was growing up

Yeah, if they were Americans, they'd feel shame for their snack food coarseness. BUT . . . They aren't American, so have they REALLY sinned against all that is holy? I don't think so.

You Scots aren't the only ones known for unhealthy eating habits. Haven't heard any statistics lately, but at one point in time, the US was like the fattest country; we had the highest percentage of obese people. We do love our snacks and we have lots and lots of them. They fall into 2 categories; salty and sweet. You are the first non-Amercan I've ever heard say that American chocolate was good. The general consensus seems to be that it's shite compared to chocolate anywhere else.

Rootbeer is from the bark of the roots of sassafras trees.. which used to be a very common form of tea , especially in south eastern united states

American here. Twinkies are an American classic that has been around since 1930. We love our root beer, which is traditionally made with sassafras root; don't know if sassafras grows elsewhere, it may be native to North America. Craft root beer may be a bit too fancy for most tastes; most of us stick with brands like A&W, Barqs, and Hires -- try it on your next trip. We especially like a root beer float, which is root beer in a big mug or glass with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it. Sort of a combo of root beer and cream soda, now that I think of it.

During the summer we will roast Starbursts over an open fire, like we do marshmallows. It makes the Starbursts gooey and gives them a little bit if a smokey flavor. But don't eat them when they are too hot so you don't burn your mouth.
@conniedavis1724 жыл бұрын
Root beer is very popular in the US. Originally, it was made with the root of a sassafras tree. Other herbs and berries were also used by some companies. We had a sassafras tree when I was a teenager. Mom would dig up roots and brew sassafras tea. Some brands of root beer are better than others. Twinkies have so many preservatives they don't mold. I've never tried it, but I have always heard if one is left out after opening, a Twinkie really won't mold. Reeses's eggs are better than regular Reese's cups, or holiday specialties like pumpkins and Christmas trees. Odd, but true. I never thought about Scotland not having all the junk food we do in the US. I am currently hooked on Milk Duds...little round caramel filled chocolate chewy candies. We have vanilla, orange, grape, etc., cream soda. I don't like vanilla, but orange is good. I hope you have Coca Cola in Scotland because that's my go-to drink. If Scotland ever let's Americans into the country and there's a vaccine for COVID, I have a trip scheduled to Scotland. It was cancelled for 2020 and rescheduled for July 2021. I don't see an address or I would send you bourbon balls. They are round chocolate covered white sugary, bourbon infused centers topped with a pecan half. I don't like them, but if a person likes bourbon or whisky, they would be tasty, I guess.

Rootbeer is a lot like actual beer, in that different brands will taste very different. Also, to touch on everyone talking about rootbeer floats, if you try it, be careful on your first pour. The moment the rootbeer makes contact with the ice cream, it foams up massively, and if you are overzealous, that foam can easily overflow and make a mess. That said, the foam is also super fun to eat, because it is extremely airy and light, but somehow retains its form well enough to be scooped like ice cream. Super weird, but fun.
