Happy to hear Erebus is already planning many more releases. Makes me feel content with only purchasing 1 of each of his first two releases.

Great interview with 2 of my 3 favorite Scots!! Just love Jody. I'm so happy to see his watch brand becoming such a success. It's like watching one of our own make it to the big leagues.

Fun and informative discussion! I've been mostly offline for several months and missed the launch of the Erebus Ascent series watches. During a watch discussion with my son yesterday, and when I mentioned that I was looking for a GADA watch with a few specific characteristics, and he sent me a SMS with a link to the Erebus. I took a look and found the GADA I'd described to him. I ordered a white enamel dial Ascent with O type bracelet. Congratulations, Jodi, on the Erebus success!

Nobody speaks English as colorfully as a couple of Scotsmen! Did you say four releases a year? (Pauses video and has a heart to heart talk with the wife). Thanks for the great conversation Gents. Jody, looking forward to #3 and beyond…

Seiko movements are good and if they are regulated then very good. It is very hard to launch a new brand even if the design is nice. Jody makes some brilliant comments.

I'm not a fan of micro brands. I don't care for the Origin. The Ascent however is stunningly beautiful and it will take me sometime to decide which dial I want to order.

Congrats on the new release to Jody. Some of the new Ascent dials are just stunning. He always good give podcast. Interesting he mentions the Sarb because it has that feel and the cues from the GS are obvious too.

My 2nd and 3rd favourite Scottish lads on the "telly". Fantastic insight into what goes into designing a watch, and great work Jody you're doing a great job with Erebus, .....now where's ma photocopier. Oh by the way ma number 1 Scottish dude is the infamous Rab C Nesbitt.

New watches looking great. The white dial on jubilee... lovely.. the Rolex op 41 is actually 39.5mm, so it's still great, but come on... the prices...I just don't see the value in rolex, but I guess that's not the point.. you buy one of them as a watch for life

I’ve pre-ordered an Ascent, really looking forward to receiving later in the year. There is definitely a gap in the market for good quality, reliable, accurate watches that have nice looking, original designs in the sub £500 category - good luck to Jody and Stephen. Now if they can just make a nice sized (40mm?), decent looking true GMT at a sensible price I’ll be very happy (and they’ll be millionaires!) 😁

Interesting insight, but I really think they need a better more ambitious designer as that seems like the weakest point.
@KaiserSoze6796 ай бұрын
I feel like that's more a matter of you not understanding what they're going for. They're not trying for wild and ambitious design (at least not yet.) They said right from the beginning that their early goal was to produce well made versions of classic designs for good value to develop the name and reputation, so that's what they've done. The more you try and reinvent the wheel style-wise, the more the audience is going to narrow to a particular niche, and for a brand new micro, that would be a pretty dangerous proposition. Give them a few rounds to get their feet under them before you go expecting them to take big risks.
@TacBlades6 ай бұрын
@@KaiserSoze679 this I understand but for me a micro brand the main draw is unique design and so far it quite generic good for sales but nothing really interesting I hope there is something different in the future but I fear it will be more of the same.

He has reviewed hundreds of interesting watches and then released some of the most vanilla looking watches of the year.
@ChrisM7526 ай бұрын
Playing it safer as a new micro, understandable if you want to establish your brand and then you can afford to take more risk rather than going out of business after 1 or 2 releases.
@timemasterhms6 ай бұрын
@@ChrisM752 I disagree. If you come out with safe, boring designs, people either expect that in the future or lose interest. If they bring out something drastically different, people will pile on with the criticism. It's harder to change direction than to release interesting things from the beginning.
@nishiki3936 ай бұрын
I totally disagree. Most people want more traditionally designed watches. I think Jody & Steven knocked it out of the park with the Ascent, and if I wasn't too poor, I would have at least one of them. Aspirational.
