I know a guy who puts custom made springs in these sideways vibrolas... and he divesbombes the shit out of these things, without tuning issues. Pretty amazing. I think, these sideways trems are really underrated. Nice SG by the way 🙂

Hi, great comparison video. I'm wondering where you found the wooden vibrola cover. I can't seem to find a supplier. Also, how does it fit on as they don't seem to have any visible fixings. Thanks for your help.

You can get the parts for the ebony block maestro at Crazy parts: www.crazyparts.de/tremolos--vibrolas/vibrolas-aged/short-vibrola-tail-blocks/ Looks like right now they're out of Ebony... but have rosewoods, and you can inquire about the ebony availability. You need the low mount short vibrola, and the spoon arm for a 62. : www.crazyparts.de/tremolos--vibrolas/vibrolas-aged/maestro-vibrolas-new/gibson-short-flange-mount-vibrola-nickel.html www.crazyparts.de/tremolos--vibrolas/vibrolas-aged/vibrola-parts/maestro-teaspoon-arm-nickel.html

Appreciate the comparison, most reviewers just leave the arm folded back on the sideways.

I use it every single time I play the guitar. I will admit the one on my custom, is a little more temperamental due to some crunchy bearings. Trying to get replacement bearings is just a matter of me searching for the right size

Let’s play a drinking game. Every time he says “vibrato” instead of “Vibrola,” you have to take a drink.

The sideways trem on the SG, best thing ever. Sucks for a trem but keeps the balance right.

Bigsby is the way forward, correctly fitted it just works, on an SG it'll also correct neck dive. It also looks better imho, more chunky.

Thanks for commenting. I like all three. The maestro and bigsby get the nod for sure over the sideways.

What about using a Duesenberg sliding bridge & or a LSR roller nut?

There are a lot of actually pretty good options out there. I don’t have any of those to compare. So I approached this toward the classic main three.

After a good setup, maestro works like a charm!

They certainly do suck if your nut and bridge saddles aren't cut properly. Not always the vibrato's fault. Most often not on q quality instrument. The problem is these low budget guitars that come out of not so great QC and to be fair, all players do not set a guitar up the same way and young guitarists buying guitars and never learning how to do the basic maintenance on a guitar, let alone one with a vibrato. Some are trash for sure.

This video could have benefited from a clip on mic. Other than that, nice demo!

Say no to the sideway Vibrola and Bigsby. Thumbs 👍👍 up to the Vibrola my favorite tremolo!!
