The last time I installed a distributor was a dual-point in my 68 super bee. Thanks for the tip

Yea they both are the same way small or big block.

Step one: Install distributor 180 degrees out. Step two: Shoot a fireball out the carb.

Lol Ive watched guys do it and it makes them mad when i do it for them in minutes.

Don't you have to be at 8 or 12 degrees before TDC?
@scottsinfl Жыл бұрын
Yes but it makes my method easy to start at 0 and dont confuse folks to an extra step.

That's a great tip Scott

Thanks Lloyd it works good on a small block too.

That's the way ya do it.

Yea man.

You want to drop it in at 5 or 10 degrees not on O on the TDC or you will not have enough play on your distributor I just found out
@scottsinfl2 ай бұрын
But if I add that step in most folks will get more confused and to most people its intimidating just trying to do a distributor so I tried to keep it simple as I could and that's the way I do it. Thanks for watching.

Unless the BBC has a tunnel ram and the engine is in the vehicle, then it gets a little more complicated.

Thanks!!! Just to confirm the engine DOES need to be at TDC in #1 correct? Thx again!!!
@scottsinfl3 жыл бұрын
That is correct but remove the #1 plug and make sure its the compression stroke as the timing mark slowly aligns up with tdc. DONT pass the mark but if you do turn it way back like 3" and slowly come back down to the top dead center mark or 0 and your good.

Hey I used this method but we started the engine and fuel pressure wont hold up and carb backfires if I give it fuel (don't know if too much or too little, it's unpredictable). Replaced head gaskets. It's 496 stroker.
@scottsinfl5 ай бұрын
That could be a few things like crossed wire not enough timing or a lean backfire. If its a carb you only need like 3-5 psi for pressure to keep the bowls full. If it runs good and only does it once in a wile I would make sure the timing is set right and lean more to the lean carb but without being able to check it im just guessing.

@@scottsinfl The ignition coil gets hot and I need to disconnect battery because something is draining it. Killed 2 batteries already. Have to fix that up to. Car starts. I've to keep my feet on the pedal, otherwise fuel pressure drops to 0. Then if I give it gas too quick it backfires (something along those lines). Maybe I don't have to set it at TDC but few degrees before? It's 496 stroker as I said and I didn't build it :D Trying to figure it out.

Mine wont go in. Its pissing me off

If it wont go in it must have the oil pump drive off just a little left or right. Watch this video it has better light and is almost identical to the bbc. thanks Scott kzbin.info/www/bejne/aanKc6Nvf75so7s
