What are your thoughts on this big block engine? Are you a fan of the red?
@charliegoldman46246 жыл бұрын
I like the red. I don't really like when people paint them orange.
@greggbarry41386 жыл бұрын
I like black but it is hard to find oil leaks so red is the second best choice.
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the red. I think Orange can be cool depending on the car.
@djhightopfade49406 жыл бұрын
The red is cool. If I was to build a motor, I would probably go with a matte red if it exist.
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
DJHighTopFade That would look really cool.

Of course there was a cam in it. Here's a lesson in listening to sellers. If he didn't say "a performance cam," all he was doing is telling you the bald truth.

Awesome videos. Thank you for showing an up close detail. I noticed your block as the holes for a retaining plate. Have you considered a Gen VI step nosed roller cam? With the retaining plate you won't need to mess with the thrust button nonsense.

I like that tool you use to press the gear on. It made it look easier than just hitting it with a hammer until its full seated.

I like your style. Keep up the good work. You have saved many grown men who were in a jam with these motors. Knowledge is power.🤓

Replaces double roller with double roller and never checks if it was tighter compared to the one it originally had.

Any input on why some crank gears are marked in the valley of teeth, others are marked specifically on a tooth. Can anyone point me towards information on this phenomenon, the internet returns nothing no matter the keywords used

Very impressive. Love the detail and the recommendations along the effort. I'm working on a top end kit for my SBC and the detail you provide is essential. Great job.

Set timing
@ericstephenson99242 жыл бұрын
Do you have to take the oil pan off to replace the timing chain? Also, if the engine wasn't at top dead center when the distributor was removed could it cause problems? I'm doing these repairs on a motorhome with the engine in. Thanks and great job!
@truckandroll9894 жыл бұрын
Im digging your video very well done. Keep it up. Im documenting a big block build myself on my channel and will need to swap the cam/timing chain/sprocket here shortly so this was a great refresher.

I prefer not to beat the snot out of the gear, not good for bearings especially thrust bearing. Good use of that tool, its worth it.

hey guys, yep, the red is good, it's different. What are the plans for this engine again ? Cheers from Australia :)
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
We want to build it piece by piece. For now we are just doing the essentials to see if we can get it running in the El Camino. If it runs then we will replace the cam and see if we can make it faster. Then the heads and after that we will see.
@andrewmurray67726 жыл бұрын
well mate, if HRG can put a diesel in an El Camino, i'm sure a big block Chevy won't be a problem...lol :) Good luck ! :)

Building my first BBC 402. What's your thoughts on the double roller timing vs the gear drive? Going in short bed pickup and want it to be a weekend driver as much as possible. Not going to be a track truck. Good videos thanks
@peterbuilttough34063 жыл бұрын
Gear drive is louder I like the sound, some don't, I believe they're more expensive some say they're stronger too.
