I doubt any 8 or tour track are gonna come back beside piranha plant pipeline if the console is backward compatible. 7 have DS track and 8 have Wii tracks because they can bring improvements to them. 9 can’t really improve on 8’s track and the booster course pass would still be in 9. I think they are gonna have 48 tracks to start and 24 of them are retro. Without 8 or tour we can also have more older track.

We will probably see the next Mario kart game in the Mario wonder style since they usually follow the mainline games. Maybe make use of wonder flowers to change up the course obstacles. Like for example lap three on a course you hit the flower and the pipes on the side start moving around blocking areas. Stuff like that

The first 3 mario kart games were off and on for how they followed their mainline counterparts, being: Super Mario Kart - Super Mario World (2D) Mario Kart 64 - Super Mario 64 (3D) Mario Kart Super Circuit - Super Mario Land (2D) By Mario Kart double dash, the Mario Kart games always followed the 3D Mario kart games, with: Mario Kart Double Dash!! - Super Mario Sunshine Mario Kart DS - Not too sure about this one. Mario 64 DS or new super Mario bros ds? Mario Kart Wii - Super Mario Galaxy Mario Kart 7 - Super Mario 3D Land Mario Kart 8 - Super Mario 3D World Sadly super Mario odyssey never got this treatment. Maybe the next Mario kart will incorporate elements from both Odyssey and wonder. But the weird thing is they usually release a new 3D Mario game before a new Mario kart game. Most likely the next generation switch will launch with a 3D Mario.

I think that we'll probably get 48 tracks total. It gives us a decent enough amount to not come off as a downgrade from Mario Kart 8 and 24 nitros seems like a fair amount of new tracks from a developer standpoint. There is a very real chance that the only DS retro they bring back is DS Figure-8 Circuit. All retro picks (excluding DLC) for the Mario Kart games include tracks that haven't been remade before, and DS only has three nitros left that fits that category: Figure-8 Circuit, Bowser Castle, and Rainbow Road. While DS Bowser Castle and Rainbow Road might get in the way if they plan on bringing back another game's Bowser Castle or Rainbow Road, they don't seem to mind when it comes to bringing back multiple circuit tracks in one game, and DS Figure-8 Circuit perfectly fills the niche of a simple Shell Cup track.

My best friend and I had a conversation a few days ago about if there were enough fan favorite tracks left to fill out at least a base 16 retro tracks for the next Mario Kart. After counting them all out, we concluded that there were still plenty of beloved tracks from all the games that were prime for remake material (not including base Mario Kart 8 tracks, which goes without saying imo). I’m guessing neither of them have seen or heard of Bowser Castle 4’s inclusion in Mario Kart Tour. I think BC4 is a great candidate for the next Mario Kart because its Tour rendition got a massive glow up from the original. It’s massive, there’s elevation, unique theming, the slope of steelies rolling towards you, gliding sections, the split path near the end. It’s amazing and almost seems like it was made for the Booster Course Pass.

For SNES and GBA courses, what if you mashed 2 courses together? So you do a full lap on Vanilla Lake, and when you cross the finish line you switch over to Choco Island for a lap. When you've completed both, that counts as a single lap. Maybe both courses are on opposite sides of a plane, and the world flips as you cross the finish line. Or maybe you're on a mobius strip track that keeps flipping between the two. Kind of like the Mario Galaxy fire and ice world.

If the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, honestly no tracks should overlap between the two games except a small handful of 8's nitro courses. I'd like 48 total courses, 24 new, 24 retro, which is the same amount of courses that 8 Deluxe launched with (32+DLC). I'd love to see them try for 100% new courses, but I know that's a dream. I think the base game of mk9 won't have 2nd time retros and only have 1st times since its too hard to include that many bangers in the base game and then do the dlc will be an additional 32 tracks with a whole bunch of fan favorites. Also I have a feeling if tour gets tracks they would be in the dlc and not base game since the city tracks would be oversaturation in a 16 track lineup (which I believe they will do)

fun fact: when not including cups from super because I honestly couldn't be bothered to check those, there are only 2 cups in the entire series that don't have any tracks in MK8D after wave 6. Those are the Special Cups from Super Circuit and Double Dash, so I feel like those are going to get more priority, especially with how generally well liked Double Dash's Special Cup is.

I hope Mario Kart 9 adds more shenanigans to the game. Like, in addition to 200cc, I want many other wild track modifiers that can be turned on. Mario Kart Tour IS Mario Kart 9. The next Mario Kart will be Mario Kart 10, which could be stylized as Mario Kart X. Then they could do cute little videos where they introduce Mario Kart X and then put another game at the end. They could have 3x Nitro, 3x Retro, and 3x Crossover cups for a total of 9 base game cups, which is 1 more than the standard 8. You could have your standard Mario Kart courses, and then you could have Nintendo Cups where you do a 3 tier track through Norfair, a race around Planet Popstar, laps around the Bionis, and then finish it all off with a terrifying trek through the Submerged Castle.

I think it's important to note that the only times a track has been remade more than once are SNES (due to Super Circuit), and with DLC. Edit also the Rainbow Road is always the next in line. So unless they change that we're destined for GBA Rainbow Road

I think that the original Booster Course Pass Tracks (Yoshis Island, Merry Mountain, etc) are gonna have the „Switch“ Emblem and the MK8 + DLC Tracks will have the „WiiU“ Emblem. And if the City Tracks come back, it will have the „Tour“ Emblem

I want nine to be all nitro courses, 48 in total. Then you could spend $10-$15 for a game-pack that will have every nitro course from an old mariokart. It only works if they are fully remastered to look like the base game and released annually. These packs could also come with characters from that game missing in the base game (1 or 2).

@@zachstofko They would have to do something to one up eight deluxe. I think they’ve had enough time that they can fit all those new courses in (especially if they aren’t doing retros). I think if we are also forced to pay a “premium” for extra retro courses that means Nintendo can go all out for them. Just a thought though, I would even be satisfied with just an enhanced port or remake of eight deluxe with the booster courses upgraded and 1-2 new cups.

I have an idea that I loosely thought about, that being the theme of "Extreme sports" will the game called "Mario Kart: Xtreme". with the gimmick being simular to DK racing but with an twist of that it follows the same rules as the Antigravity ramps/tracks.

I would choose Ninja Hideaway over Athens Dash for a tour pick. Its my favorite mario kart track of all time so I am very biased, but it also feels the most in place compared to a city track and some of the other wackier tour nitros. Out of all of them I think Ninja Hideaway screams "Make me a retro track" the loudest, plus there's a lot of room to stick in a new gimmick or two. Athens is a great track but it's really weird as the only non mario universe pick in the lineup

I feel like retros might get a bit of a overhaul next game, with "sequel" tracks akin to how Tour handled GBA Bowser Castle 4, but each of these sequel tracks take place at the beginning and end of a cup. I'll call them "RMX" tracks, since it's basically the Tour RMX's dialed up to 11. Each entry gets at least 1 RMX track. My personal Retro predictions: Shell Cup: RMX SNES Koopa Beach 2 (A tropical island raised into the air, I especially think they could do some cool things with the odd startling line design) Wii Luigi Circuit Wii U Toad Harbor RMX Tour Tokyo Drift (If they do course overhauls, this track deserves it the most from the Tour lineup) Bananna Cup: RMX DS Figure Eight Circuit (I mean... if they could make the bridge a helix loop...) GBA Lakeside Park 3DS Wuhu Loop RMX GCN Mushroom City (Frankly I have no idea how they can really redo this, but... yeah.) WARIO Cup: RMX N64 Wario Stadium (Let's be real, this one needs a overhaul if it comes back.) GCN Wario Colosseum WiiU Mount Wario (You guys see the theme here yet?) RMX 3DS Wario Shipyard. (They could do some really fun anti-grav stuff with the theme) Leaf Cup: RMX Wii Toad's Factory (Spooky Shut Down Factory after several Health and Safety violations) Tour New York Minute SNES Mario Circuit 4 RMX N64 Banshee Boardwalk (As Nathaniel said, this one has lots of potential.) Lightning Cup: RMX Wii U Cloudtop Cruise (Cool theme, layout itself could use some tweaks. Would be cool to jump between planets throughout rather than stay on a cloud for 99% of the track) Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline. DS Bowser's Castle (Giant Bowser statue added.) RMX GBA Rainbow Road (They better not butcher this stage) Some courses I wanted to include, but couldn't: SNES: Vanilla Lake(s), Choco Island(s) GBA: Sunset Wilds, Sky Garden, Broken Pier, Bowsers Castle 4, and Luigi Circuit. GCN: Rainbow Road, Bowser's Castle Wii: Dry Dry Ruins. That's it. Literally every other Wii Course would have been remade except this one. DS: Airship Fortress, Delfino Plaza. 3DS: Maku Wuhu. Tour: Every non-city Nitro... and Singapore Speedway.

1:06:20 You can have 2 retro Wario Tracks because both wii and 3ds had 2 retro tracks with the same character veing N64 Mario Raceway, GCN Mario Circuit from Wii, and from 3DS GBA Luigi's Circuit and Luigi's Mansion.

I think that Wuhu Loop and Maka Wuhu are practically guaranteed to return, especially since they weren't in Tour. GBA will be the Rainbow Road that returns, and I think either Double Dash's or DS's Bowser's Castle will return. Since it's the one Tour track that didn't make the cut in 8 Deluxe, I think Piranha Plant Pipeline will return. Toad's Factory will finally be remade. Wario Stadium will complete the N64 remakes. I think that Sunshine Airport, Mount Wario, and Cloudtop Cruise are prime 8 tracks to be remade first because they're so popular. I don't think double dip remakes will be in the base game, but we'll some in the inevitable DLC like Frappe Snowland, N64 Bowser's Castle, Luigi's Mansion, Delfino Square, Airship Fortress, and DK Jungle.

one thing for tour tracks I feel was missed was the 1 purely unique track in tour that wasnt included in the mario kart 8 booster course, I feel like they would have to add that last course in there just so everything from tour can be preserved when it shuts down eventually.

If the next game is a major crossover of Nintendo characters, here's some level ideas. (Mario kart 8 had a total of 32 courses across 8 cups at base launch, so I'm keeping that in mind) Donkey kong Cup dkc1 course- inspired by various levels of the first game. Level starts off in an enlarged version of his treehouse home, launch out of it, jungle like the first level, then rainy jungle, pass through a large banana pile where that buzzard throws coconuts on you, make your way through a barrel blasting level, an ice cave. maybe at the finish line is candy kong waiting to give the winner a kiss. dkc2 course - part of a sinking pirate ship to drive through, a haunted forest where wind can push you forward or back, a dark carnival rollercoaster with 3 different tracks to enter at (tracks with dropoffs allowing you to intersect with the other tracks), perhaps a dark lava cave with lava shooting out dkc 3 course - boardwalk around the lake, scenic waterfalls, a large tree where a saw threats to cut through if the racers don't make it out in time DK tropical freeze- this didn't sell well, did it? I'm choosing this due to ot being more recent and receiving critical and fan acclaim, but I could see them continuing with retro donkey and doing either a dk64 course or dk arcade course (somehow?) F-zero cup 4 courses. 2 inspired by f zero courses, 2 updated recreation of classic f zero courses Legend of Zelda Cup Ocarina of time course Windwaker course Breath course Tear course Pokémon Cup based off of the different areas with the new pokémon from those areas. Was the red and blue the indigo area? something or such. Anyways, you get the idea. Speed by a charizard blowing fire down on you, an area where water pokémon are making certain areas of the ground slippery, and area where jiggly puff sings every one to a dream world for a portion of the course (waking up to fire reigning down on you from charizard). A splatoon cup would also be very interesting. Drive the carts into paint, where you can see rhe bumps of your karts going up on walls and such. maybe special item for this course to speed up and sneak under racers ahead Kirby Kup That tower in the nes game, racing up, spirling around it. and maybe in kirby kourses you can get abilities by knocking into the other racers courses based off of mario wonder, upcoming peach game, mario 64 (has this been done? ride around and into the castle, leap into paintings, somehow wind up at another part of the castle to leap into other paintings) metroid cup if capcom allows, would love a mega man cup. or, if not too m-rated, a bayonetta cup, the whole dark aesthetic of that

20:45 Funnily enough, data for Tour Nitros that appeared in the BCP first existed in Tour long before their BCP debut. So they might have actually been holding off once the focus shifted from Tour to the BCP. (ex: mob_br for Squeaky Clean Sprint, mob_yi for Yoshi's Island, etc.)

Nintendo definitely considers the non-city tracks (that were obviously made for tour) to be booster course pack originals. They deliberately made sure they released there before tour, and none of them have a game title/system under their name, which is what would signify it as being from a different game. The only ones with “tour” written under them are the city tracks, which are all the first course in each booster course cup.

The one thing I thought of that could compete with Mario Kart 8's scope post-BCP is user created content. A new Mario Kart built with a robust track editor would go a long way to make up for having way fewer base game tracks. The only way I see the track count exceed 96 is when players can create and share custom tracks.
