I had one of these forever but my clubs were stolen. Just picked up one that needed refurbishing...suggestions on paint to use to return to original look?
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
Is it the red version or the standard aluminum finish? Any colors I would suggest cerakote. But if it's the aluminum version then it can just be restored with a stain bead blasted finish.
@4thYes Жыл бұрын
@@igolf906 it's the red version. What did you soak it in as you were removing the bottom plate?
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
@@4thYes Acetone to try and loosen up the adhesive. But yes I would suggest cerakote to bring it back to red.

Great job! Would have loved to seen it sink a putt or two!

I've been asked this a few times now. 99% of the putters I restore are for customers so, once I finish them I like to get it packaged and back to them ask quickly as possible. But I may set something up in house to do this.

Hi I love the restoration I picked up a scotty cameron caliente with no shaft and was wondering if you or anyone knows what shaft belongs on it of were I could find a shaft. Thank you in advance.
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what size shaft fits on them. As they are a weird double bend style I'm side Scotty Cameron made them proprietary so, best bet would be to get ahold of them and see if the can replace it. Maybe someone else knows more about them

Are all the caliente putters aluminum? I just purchased one and plan on trying to stain it similar to this. Would hand sanding work?
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
Not 100% sure but I believe they are all Aluminum. Hand sanding will absolutely work, will just take some time.
@collinwatters1810 Жыл бұрын
Ok. Have you putted with it? Do you like the feel? It’s crazy how little information there is on these putters.
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
Aluminum isn't my favorite feel for a putter. But for what it was didn't feel to bad. Balance was OK. Feel is preference.
@collinwatters1810 Жыл бұрын
Gotcha. Last question. And I’m not sure if you’ll be able to answer this.. but I had the plan caliente without the sole plate. Do you know what the darker grey sole insert is? Or if that would cause issues when I sand it down?
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
@Collin Watters there's absolutely zero info on that putter. But I would assume it's a solid permanent piece for weight. So being it's an aluminum body, anything heavier would make sense. More than likely stainless steel or tungsten. Sanding it shouldn't be an issue at all.

@igolf906 well we snapped the shaft trying to adjust it for the armlock, need to find a new shaft. My golf guy over here said you did an amazing job on the head!!!

What kind of paint are you using

Testors. But if I want a translucent color I use Tamiya.

Does that bluing work on 304 stainless?
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
No this stuff is Aluminum black, only works on aluminum. And the standard bluing is for regular mild and carbon steels. Other than Cerakoting, if you're looking to do an "easy" black dye on stainless, check out my first Odyssey Putter Restore video. That one uses the dye compatible with stainless. I no longer use these as the finishes arent as uniform as I would want. I either cerakote or use gun blue and quench.

which grit wheel do you use ?
@igolf9062 жыл бұрын
I was using grits from 120 up to 320. But now I just use a 320 and work at it slower. That keeps down a lot of the deeper scratches that the 120 was leaving.
