Well you can get around the 1.5l engine problem with the new crvs by getting the hybrid! The new hybrid model comes with a 2.0L engine gets phenomenal gas mileage AND has more hp then the reg gasoline crv! Scotty actually recommended in a previous video that if you were going to go with the new CR-V he recommends getting the hybrid because of the larger engine it gets more horsepower and rather than having a turbocharged engine that will wear out quicker the electric part of the car takes care of that with faster acceleration etc.

That survey had to be rigged. I find it very hard to believe that Honda ranked last. I'm also very skeptical of the fact that both Dodge and Ram supposedly ranked 1st and 2nd respectively as Chrysler quality is junk. I mean, compared to Honda their reliability is like night and day. I think quality across the board has slipped in recent years for all auto makers, but I'd still buy a Honda or a Toyota over a Chrysler product any day.

If overall customer satisfaction is taken into account, I can understand why Honda scored so low, Honda quality and control has definitely gone downhill. I've owned two used 90s Hondas and a new 2024 Honda, all manual and the worse one by far was the new 2024. The quality control was not there, I experienced a defective transmission with the 2024. They don't make them like they used to in the 90s and beginning of the 2000s. You got to remember that Honda set its bar pretty high in the 90s with their reliability and quality, many folks got used to that and when they experience what the new Hondas bring to the table, many are disappointed.

I own 3 Hondas. A 2003 CRV, 2005 Honda Civic, and a 2024 Honda Civic Touring. The new civic has a few paint finish issues but it handles so good. The 1.5 is extremely smooth and peppy. I know the turbo is a potential problem later. I’m just changing the oil every 3,000-5,000 miles and I’m hoping for the best.
@MoeHammad-d9g10 күн бұрын
Turbo goes out at about 100k-130k. I've had a 19, 21 and 22 civic 1.5t bought all brand new and the turbo seemed to go out at about that mileage.
@Dave414-j8l10 күн бұрын
@ How frequent were your oil changes? What is your driving style? Easy going or lead footed? Haha. Just curious. One other thing, did you make any modifications to your Honda’s performance? Thanks.
@MoeHammad-d9g10 күн бұрын
@@Dave414-j8l my oil changes interval was 5k-7k with the 19 and 21 model and the 22 was 8k-9k with premium oil and filter. I mostly drove light footed and about 85 percent of my Miles were highway miles. If your turbo ever goes out... just get a junkyard turbo that fits that has less than 30k, 40k miles and have somebody install it. That what I did and it cost me about $600 with parts and labour and my car was completely stock.
@MissingNumb9 күн бұрын
Turbo vehicles, 3-5k intervals max , 3k religiously better... Amsoil turbo and premium. Never run her low (you'll starve the pump and run leaner.). Smaller turbos get coked up quick if you treat it like a regular vehicle. Static rpm load (highway driving) is also detrimental to turbos, they need to be fed a decent oil pressure in prolonged use (same train of thought as A/C compressors failing when used heavily idling/in traffic), they will wear faster. Gotta understand the nature of the beast.
@abraham39817 күн бұрын
@@MoeHammad-d9g That is not the only issue that plagued the L15 turbo specially in the accords but the civics were not free from them either. Things like oil dilution and blown head gaskets were not uncommon with them.

Thanks for this report. I was a VW fan for many years but my last car was a VW Passat that drove like a dream but every month something else was breaking and I couldn’t keep up. One day I thought to myself …”I could own a new car for what I’m paying in repairs.” After talking to my mechanic I decided on a Honda CRV. I went to the Honda dealership and left with a 15:44 new 2015 CRV-XL. White with light tan leather seats. Beautiful. It was great in the New England snow and really good gas mileage. A couple of years later the breaks delaminated. The starter went then a year later it went again. Thankfully I didn’t have to pay for the starter. Warrantee. I hated the head rests because they pushed my head forward which aggravated my neck. Other than that it was a great car. After 5 years and 100500 miles I traded that in for a 2021 Pilot. The CRV held its value and I got a good amount at trade in time. 3.5 years later and I have no complaints at all. Well, I only wish the pilot got better gas mileage. But I knew it wasn’t going to get the same as the CRV. I took it in for 4 recalls a couple of weeks ago and since it didn’t cost me anything I’m still very pleased. Very roomy, comfortable, 3 seat rows, great to camp in just an all around good vehicle.

My neighbor has a 1998 Honda Pilot with 475,000 miles on it and it still runs like new. He’s the original owner and only issues he’s had is the back break housings had to be replaced and a catalytic converter replacement because someone tried stealing it and just ended up breaking it instead. I have a 2022 civic with 49k miles and yeah its pretty lame about the recalls. But at least its for steering issues and not something more major like the engine. That being said the little 1.5L turbos do have some issues.
@honkytonkinson978711 күн бұрын
I’ve got one of those. Mine didn’t qualify for any recalls but the steering box was replaced under warranty I’m pretty happy with it, but I’m not a fan of all the electronic driving aides, and the thing that makes the engine shut off at stops that can’t be overridden, at least not easily I also have a 2005 civic that didn’t have any issues until a couple years ago; crank and cam sensors failed
@steladimi478511 күн бұрын
@@honkytonkinson9787 I found that if you press the break pedal enough to stop the car at a stop light but not press it all the way, the engine shut off does not happen. This might be a way to "override" it although it is annoying to have to do that.

My 2019 Ridgeline has a constant stream of recalls. I got a batch fixed, then got more notices....and half the notices are waiting for parts to be available. I don't know how they can issue recalls without any parts.
@Ultra_Dank10 күн бұрын
@honkytonkinson9787 there is a button next the parking brake, it has a slashed "A" on it. That turns off the auto stop. You have to do it everytime you turn the car on though.

Honda and Acura Connecting Rod Failure Recall In February 2020, Honda first identified the issue when its manufacturing facility discovered improper grinding of the crank pin. This led to crank pins exhibiting a crown or convex shape outside the specified parameters. The Honda and Acura recall impacts an estimated 248,999 vehicles, including the 2015-2020 model year Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline, 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey, and 2018-2019 Honda Pilot.

Thanks Scotty for always increasing consumer awareness. My 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L minivan is my first and certainly the last Honda vehicle. It is sluggish and choppy in every aspect from acceleration to transmission. They have thoughtlessly put all HVAC controls being the glaring touch screen making this car risky to drive. Funny enough, all weather control and security systems fail every year in mild Canadian winters of Niagara Falls. Last month, I bought a RAM 1500 Bighorn crew cab with 6ft bed. Despite its bigger size, compared to a minivan, I feel in control due to its responsiveness, manual cabin controls, and it rides smooth like an aeroplane.

I had a 2011 Honda Accord with the V6 engine. Loved that car with a great engine. Went to a 2016 Accord but it has the 4 cylinder. Really miss the power and really had better gas milage than the 4 cylinder! I would not get a newer Accord because of just a smaller turbo 4 cylinder. How I wish I still had the V6 and always had compliments on the pearlized white! Oh yah and the newer Accords seem smaller inside and out. But then I had a 2000 Chevy Monta Carlo with the 3.8 six cylinder that was like a race car but got better gas milage than any Honda engine. That engine was so good Chevy was forced to stop manufacture of it.😢

Not sure if we just had a lemon. But we got a Honda CRV new in 2010. Transmission was laggy from the start. We felt it was borderline dangerous. You would go to pull out on a main road, and it would barely go. Thing didn’t last anywhere near 100k miles. Engine blew, and we had to get it replaced. Nothing was under warranty. Had to pay out of pocket for everything. Never bought another Honda again after that.

2017 Hatchback owner here. The AC system is so lousy. Broke so many times per year. First it’s the condenser, then compressor. Had to wait almost a year to have them fixed on Honda’s dime. Then a couple months after all fixed: evaporator broken ($2000 fix they want me to front first and wait to see if a tsb comes out for it). It’s all a connected system and corrosion/leak in one causes moisture to reach the other. What pissed me off the most is: I asked strangers who upgraded to recent model civic. One guy said he traded his civic in after the ac went out. For pennies. That dealer will prob “fix” the ac and pawn it off to the next sucker. Never going w Honda again.

In 2021 I had to replace my car after my 2019 Honda Civic was totaled in accident. I did not like the way that the cabin felt in that civic. I felt closed in and kind of constructed and it was a little lower to the ground than I preferred. It had a more sporty feel that I wasn’t a fan of. So when I look for a replacement, I decided on a 2021 Toyota Corolla. The cabin space belt better for a family of three less constricted feeling easier to get in and out of. I moved from one state to another and managed to get three cat carriers three adults, all of our necessary, electronic devices and Suitcases with a weeks worth of travel into a Toyota Corolla. I don’t regret the change from Honda to Toyota at all. I like the fact that it doesn’t feel sporty and it feels more like a good family car.

Made her drive with a computer strapped to the pod for data gathering. Still no resolution. We were out for a ride and she was going through 1" deep puddles on a groomed shares trail and the computer would go on the fritz and put it in limp mode. Needless to say, 13x in the shop and 4 years later, they finally gave her a new one.
