Inexpensive DC clamp-meters use hall-effect sensors to read the magnetic field on the clamp core and are sensitive to their orientation relative to ambient magnetic fields. You need to zero them as close to the final measurement position and orientation as possible so the amount of bias being zero'd is as close as possible to what the meter will see wherever it is going. The zeroing is only valid for the location and orientation it was done at. If you need to take a measurement in a different location or orientation, you need to check and likely set your zero again.

Bought an aluminum hose nozzle to use at my Florida beach house. Left the brand new barely used nozzle outside on a table under the lanai so it couldn't get rained on. Six months later it was so corroded it was unusable. I now keep my hose nozzles in a drawer inside the beach house. A similar hose nozzle left outside in the rain and winter in Atlanta wouldn't have as much corrosion in five years as the one at my Florida beach house had in six months. Everything corrodes fast near the beach. Not so bad inland though. And a car left at my beach house will not corrode as fast as it would if it stayed in upstate New York where the roads get salted year round.

I had mice nest in my wife’s car after it sat for a period of time. I work from home, but on one fateful day I was headed to a meeting, all spiffied up. I got in the car, cranked it up, turned the air on, and was blasted in the face with mouse nest confetti. I was sweating a little from a hot shower, so it all stuck on my face. This was a pivotal moment in my war against mice. I could hear them celebrating. I harnessed my anger and left no mouse standing in the following weeks. To top it off, at the same time I was confettied, the brake pedal slammed to the floor with absolutely no pressure. That turned out to be a corroded brake line. The short one that runs from the main line to the rear wheel drum cylinder. At the time I attributed it to the mice. True story.

Honorable mentions: Be Sure to start the car & take it for a 10 minute or more drive especially when cold (essentially operating temperature) because Your oil as so Other fluids will also break down even synthetic. Also oil rather staying on crucial parts (like it does for; synthetic lasts longer) you're going to get even more of a dry start which wears out the engine faster. So by just a once a week 20 min drive you'll keep the multiple fluids & crucial parts moving so you'll continue to get the most out of your vehicle.

If you live near or on the beach, it would probably be a good idea to have your vehicle oil sprayed. Like we do here in the "Great White North". Stops rust from road salt. Make sure you've got a good coat of wax on the paint as well.

I found an OBDII adapter for the trickle charger. Great for people who are not mechanically inclined plus it's super simply for them to not forget to unplug before driving off...

MY car battery gave up almost a week before this whole pandemic started....I left it in the car...A week a ago I go to fix something on the car....could not turn on the radio...was like "fuse might be blown"....put the multimeter on the battery....8.5v....well that's dead....so I disconnected the negative terminal....now it's just sitting there....gonna replace the battery once the lockdown goes away ( I could order a new one and have it delivered to me....but it would make no sense

We had to change the battery in our 2015 Chevy Spark. Our 2007 Fit is sitting in our driveway also with a drained battery, haven't tried to boost it but am pretty confident it will just start up. The 1994 Mitsu Delica L400 is another story, I think there's a short near the alternator... haha

If you live near salt water, get a 6' piece of PVC, a cap, and a hose adaptor. Drill holes a few inches apart and connect. Easy under carriage cleaner.

Hey Scotty could you please talk about the waste of money GPS tracking units dealerships try to sneakily sell you that’s already installed in the vehicle? Towbin Dodge here in Las Vegas said they charge to remove it. It was so easy for me to simply unplug it, what a bunch of liars. They charged me $300 for the unit which is installed in all their vehicles! They refused to give me money back.
