SCP-073 - Cain

SCP 073 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as Cain.
SCP-073 appears to be a male in his early thirties with black hair and blue eyes. The arms, legs, spinal cord, and shoulder blades of SCP 073 appear to have been replaced with artificial versions of unknown make and metal. SCP073 only takes notice of this when it is pointed out, and states that it has no knowledge of how, why, or when these replacements took place, stating it had had them as long as it could remember.

Quick thing: In the Bible, I remember it said God cursed Cain and he said he was banished from the land he was in, and that no food would ever grow if he tried raising any crops in that location which explains why plants die when he touches then. When he left, he told God to let anyone kill him or something like that and then God gave him a mark on his forehead, and He (God) said that anyone who killed Cain or harmed him will be repayed 7x worse (explains how whoever harms him gets harmed themselves instead of Cain) This is from my knowledge from reading the Bible (All this took place after Cain killed Abel)

This was my immediate thought when I first read about it and again watching the video. Cain being extremely intelligent and a quick study could easily take a tissue sample or draw blood. Unless for some anomalous reason he is physically incapable of harming himself as part of his “punishment”

This was actually suggested in the termination logs, and rejected. The O-5 rejecting the proposal noted that he couldn't blame the researcher for suggesting it, but if 682 gain 073's powers, they would be screwed.

It would be useless test with risk of 682 copying OP ability. Cain just reflects damage, so for it to do anything first 682 would have to attack Cain and secondly it would need to inflict lot of damage. It would be basically 682 against itself and 682 is known for its defensive abilities, not its offensive ones, so it is unlikely it would be able to kill itself. Its hard to kill lizard, not instant kill lizard. Individuals much more potent in offensive abilities tried and failed in bringing lizard down, flaming angel and shy guy for example. Also lizard is intelligent enough to figure out nature of Cains power after few attempts and just stop attacking.

What if Cain and Abel met during the 5000 universe? Here's my headcanon: Cain, Iris, 999, 191, 131, TJ, 507, 408, and 166 all escape with the help of Clef, Kondraki, Gears, Rights, Iceberg, and Alison(Gears' daughter) to the GOC and they team up with the GOC, CI, the church of the broken God, and the serpent's hand. But Abel also teamed up with them. Yeah, it was awkward for a while but they did start talking but it was still difficult because Abel still hates him, Gear also started to talk to his daughter again, again it was awkward for a while since she hasn't talked to him in over a decade, but they bonded over books they have read, but it was difficult because Gears was being difficult.

If a nuke was dropped on him, who would the damage transfer to? I'm assuming it would be the person who physically launched it, but could it be the person who issued the order, or the country's entire military? Secondly, would it only effect that 1 person, or would that person explode like a nuke?

Given how it seems to operate, it’d just be the damage transferred, not any other effects associated with the damage. So you’d end up with a blown up skeleton that’s heavily irradiated from the blast while Cain is utterly traumatized from the pain of it

There is this one story in which the SCP Foundation reunite SCP-073 and SCP-076 by erasing the later's memories. It's really sad because Able couldn't really remember that his brother killed him, but still know something is wrong about it. Able didn't search for more and decided that his and Cain's life better this way. For me, it is one of the greatest SCP-073 & SCP-076-2 end tale.

@@mikk.t.7824 We shed skin cells over the course of the day, all over things. It isnt out of the question that some were on his arms, which are still attached to him. They also probably taken them from the more ORGANIC parts of him, but it's probably for comedic effect on the futility of scraping "skin" off metal limbs. As far as the paper not getting disintegrated: The dictionary provided probably wasnt actual paper, like some composite paper-like substance. They probably attempted to give him an actual dictionary, which disintegrated the second it touched him, and thought of that. As far as the newspaper goes, best I can guess is that it isnt exactly paper. Might be something like how the USD is more of a fabric than it is to paper, but it would need to be 100% synthetic for it to not fall apart, so it's probably just a small plothole.

I have so many questions. 1. Has cross-testing with 096 or 682 happened? 2. Does he only reflect pain or could you essentially tickle him and get tickled yourself? 2.a. Now what about more… provocative interactions? 3. If he was to harm himself, would it cause an infinite loop of pain or simply be a normal injury? 4. What about injuries to area that differs from Cain? Like if an amputee stabbed his leg or a woman kicked his groin? What if an animal like a snake bit him? I NEED ANSWERS!

1. Yes it has already happened, took 11 Hours of Fighting. In the end 096 was severely damaged and was clawing his face while on a corner and 682 losing most of his mass. 2. @@J2099 Oh, if that is what he meant then no, I dont think so. But you can try reading the SCP Wiki. A reason is that 096 and 073 will be in a loop. If cain is unkillable and has thorns infinity and with 096 regeneration then most likely they will be there. With 682? I dont know if the foundation would want a lizard with thorns infinity.

I'm surprised about Cain's case of whoever hurts him returns to where they were going to hit or hurt him; It is clear that Cain does not want to see Abel, but for another reason, in addition to seeing that he has a photo of him and Abel together as good brothers... how complicated for him, you can see that on his face a feeling of nostalgia and melancholy

13:00 Even if Cain were to take his own blood, I think it would still have the same effect on the person who would do it instead. For example, if someone told Cain to use the needle to extract his own blood, it would be the person's blood that was extracted instead. If Cain were to take his own blood without anyone else asking him, the blood sample would still come from one person who wanted his blood sample in the first place or maybe a random person around the world.

I kinda like Detective Void's theory that Cain and possibly also Abel were prototype humans somehow, a first attempt by God that ended up being deemed too dangerous so he switched over to all flesh in further creations. Obviously this has no corrolation with the real creation story, but it's a neat origin theory for SCP-073's mettalic components.

I remember that he was exposed to the Dr. Clef version of SCP-001 (The Gate Guardian). SCP-001 did not like him, to put it nicely. Also, it inflicted wounds that SCP-073 couldn’t deflect.

Not that I know of. Besides, SCP 343's claim of being the supreme being should be greeted with skepticism despite his friendly nature, as he could just be another powerful reality warper and there are other powerful reality warpers in the Foundation's custody, like the Deer and the Witch Child.

I think we all keep noticing the doctors trying to get samples from his arms and think "What are you doing? They're METAL." And also think "How'd they do that, they're metal?!" Gotta say, this is a unique case of old SCPs having bad writing. Because with this one everything about Cain is great, except that one detail. 😆 Also, wondering why they didn't try dropping him in the middle of SCP-6000 when it was a problem.
