I highly doubt that spin-off is accurate. If the foundation can’t repair the chains, then how can modern technology destroy the devourer? when a chain was destroyed, a catastrophic event occurred. If a chain breaking symbolizes the awakening of the devourer, and millions of people died just during the process of the awakening, then the beast has a much larger amount of power compared to modern technology.

​@@Kitchen6419 Belief can only work on certain rituals and anomalies, the reason they keep SCP-2845 and the 216 SCP-2845-1 instances contained in Site-100 in a multi layered chamber is because the D-Class and Containment Consultants believe the rituals work, and in result. 2845 believes it is trapped, as the one containment consultant said. "It will not think to escape, the idea will cannot be comprehended." The Deer was tricked because of the belief of the containment procedures used by the Foundation, SCP-3004-1 cannot be tricked into containment due to it living in a different reality, however they can capture it's false stained glass cicadas. However belief cannot affect the Devourer, 6 chains broke already, and there's only one last withering shackle keeping the entity in it's prison for 30 years. The Devourer is a exception when it comes to belief, containment of anomalies and rituals.

The chains holding the Devourer Of Worlds could be related to SCP 231. 6 of the 7 chains are broken, and 6 of the 7 women in SCP 231 have died/given birth. Once the last women gives birth/dies the last chain is broken. The Devourer Of Worlds is set free and that is the cataclysmic event that will happen when the 7th seal (SCP 231-7) is broken (when SCP 231-7 gives birth/dies). Last bit of evidence is that SCP 231 1-7 were from the Cult of the Scarlet King, and the celebrant's chant mentions the seven seals (SCP 231 1-7).

I do think that SCP writers perhaps rely a bit much on monsters that inevitably will escape at some point, and end humanity eventually. I hope more final containment procedures are found because we can't just live constantly waiting for the next end of the world scenario to arrive!

The only one we have a bead on is 05-12, Adam Bright: who during his tenure at the Foundation tried time and again to try and have SCP-321s' SCP status removed so she could return to her family again even all the way up to when he became 05-12; at which point when he was denied again to have SCP-321s' SCP status removed did he simply retire from the 05 Council and left the Foundation. The sad thing is that SCP-321 was actually his daughter who was stillborn and then Jr. Researcher Adam Bright used his other child SCP-590 to basically revive SCP-321, only for SCP-321 to get taken away by the Foundation afterwards against Adam Brights' protests. Adam Brights' other son Dr. Jack Bright like most rest of the Bright Family remains steadfast and loyal to the Foundation, even in the event where Jack Bright ended up getting killed off in a rampage by SCP-076-2 and his consciousness was transferred into SCP-963.

the "knowledge can be deadly" aspect is a surprising aspect to run with for this entry as is the implied malevolence of the Overseers given that their reasons - by even this retelling's admission - are arguably the kindest they can be regarding the issue. personally, the idea of the mysterious organisation heads being proven to be equally powerless as the rest of us was way more existentially chilling and even tragic when they're not painted as cackling, uncaring demons. not to mention that when the point of the story is the increasingly deepening lore around the SCP's containment procedures with each security level, the payoff is a lot more compelling than when the question of "what's REALLY the purpose of these procedures" is asked right at the start, then repeatedly, with the ongoing sub-question of "should this information REALLY be known?". those questions are so prevalent that the climax (that was originally a rug-pull of expectation) it doesn't come off as a compelling plot twist but an almost smug fulfillment of a setup we've been made to expect from its suggestion within the first minute. i like this channel's way of telling SCP stories but sometimes the motivation they go with is truly so pale in comparison to the original reports that don't try to wrap themselves up in some kind of moral. SCPs aren't those kinds of stories, and trying to tell them with sign-offs like "be careful what you wish for" and "if only he'd been more curious" only muddies their intentions - effectively sanitising the horror of a primarily horror-inspired story. tl;dr this isn't just a complete change in tone from what's easily one of the most interesting 'stories' in the foundation's history, but a direct undermining of what makes it so good for an (arguably) less substantial payoff.
