SCP-5031 is a Keter class anomaly also known as Yet Another Murder Monster.
SCP-5031 is a non-sapient quasi-humanoid creature of unknown origin. When directly observed, SCP 5031 will temporarily cease to exist until the viewer stops observing the space that SCP5031 formerly occupied. Video and photography devices do not capture SCP-5031's appearance; however, observing SCP-5031's shadow does not cause cessation of existence, allowing certain physiological traits to be inferred from its silhouette.

This story felt like one of those 'difficult, problem child is given an opportunity to be better by a patient and kind mentor' but way more interesting. I love it!!! The SCP has like a Sr. Researcher dad and a D-Class mom and they taught it how to cook and play music. it also had a nice character arc which is new to me for wholesome SCPs. They're usually nice from the get-go or naturally malevolent, but I love how this SCP grew like it was a troublesome child into a fine, young adult. New favorite SCP for me!

@Olimar92
@Olimar92 3 жыл бұрын
They had no reason to. D-Class are not terminated on the regular. Unless an SCP requires termination as part of it's containment, or the application of amnestics, it is not done. Seeing as all tests were being done to reduce the discomfort and stress of SCP-5031, it would not make sense to do those things to D-52125. D-Class are not always death row inmates, and could be volunteers or homeless. The Foundation wouldn't exist if they regularly killed their D-Class personnel.

@@Olimar92 it depends on the headcannon, but I remember that at one point in the SCP stories, D class were executed at the end of the month; the promise of release was a ruse. Damn. I loved this one! I love how this SCP grows and develops, and it was heartwarming to see that this time, revised parameters weren't solely to contain the creature better, but simply to make it happy. This obviously won't work with every anomaly, but it's nice to see that, to combat monsters, the Foundation doesn't always have to commit monstrous hands; rather, simply being a good person can sometimes be better than the strongest cage. It would be interesting to see more SCPs interacting with this researcher, as he tries to understand the underlying being within the spooky or strange appearance. Imagine a site without reinforced cages, but instead a rehabilitation center where SCPs can thrive and grow (obviously with containment measures such as reinforced blast doors, cctv, and at least some armed guards in constant patrol, just in case). It would not only be a good thing for many creautres, but it would logitically be a far more efficient containment if the "inmates" didn't have to consider themselves to be in a prison, but rather a home. Hell, some SCPs could even help contain some of their more dangerous brethren, if only we gave them a reason to wish to help us, like showing them we care about them.

They could with the hard to destroy reptile, pairing it with 999 due to it causing the reptile immense happiness, however when separated the reptile gained the ability to cause everyone in its vicinity to laugh uncontrollably, causing a containment breach. I believe something similar happened to 049 and 096, 049 effectively calming down 096 for a few seconds after injecting an unknown fluid (presumed sedative) into it, then 049 being yanked out of the containment cell because what the hell did it just put in it and will they all die?

I think the downside is that this is literally the only SCP the foundation did this with, and they only did it after god knows how many years of containment. This makes the usual containment procedures, which just care about locking the creature up, with little regard for its comfort, look even more cruel. Plus, this one was just an experiment, and likely the researcher in question won't get the funds to try the same with other sapient SCPs.

I feel this scp is somewhat a commentary on life, like how not everything should be seen as threatening and evil, sometimes they just need a little push in the right direction
@Graknorke
@Graknorke 2 жыл бұрын
it's also a commentary on SCPs. it's "yet another murder monster" among the huge number on the site (probably over a hundred) but it turns out that with a little investigation it's not that at all, it was just assumed. About how maybe other articles shouldn't always jump straight to treating everything with hostility because what kind of scientist does that anyway.

5031 is one of my favorite SCPs overall, gotta say (this is not my first experience with them) Sometimes you must simply look inside your local murder monster and find a friend and child to tend and raise

I was waiting the entire time for something to go horribly wrong and for 5031 to go back to being treated as just another monster. But that never happened. Very wholesome for a Keter!
