SCP-974 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as the Treehouse Predator.
SCP 974 is a carnivorous creature that superficially resembles a human child. It possesses greater durability, strength and stamina than a child of similar size and does not appear to be deterred by bullets or melee weaponry. Although SCP974 can briefly subsist on small animals such as squirrels or birds, its primary and preferred food source is prepubescent human children.

And besides, the maintenance of this scp is just absurd it literally contradicts one of the foundation's goals; to protect. Not just the scps but everyone else too of course. And sending children to die in one of the most painful, gruesome, and inhumane ways possible doesn't seem very protect esque to me... I mean trying to preserve 682 makes more sense than trying to keep this scp alive. 682 might actually contribute more to the foundation in terms of intel despite how dangerous it is, this scp literally does nothing for the foundation and requires kids as it's sustenance. For all they know killing the entire species off could cause an xk class end lf the world scenario, after all it is basically anonalous or supernatural. Plus feeding it children will gather importante data to see how this scp acts so that they can terminate and contain more. Plus as we saw countless times with the GOC, killing and hunting something off emidiently might be the greatest mistake anyone could of made.

They are an evolved offshoot of Changelings fairies from Irish folklore! So evolved that not even fire works on the adults anymore! Now it ONLY works on their internal organs down their esophagus. 05-1 knows how strong the old fairies were, and these as adults are even stronger! What, do they want raise a changling so that when its an adult its....completely loyal to the Foundation....and is superstrong and completely and utterly indestructible.... except its internal organs....? Oh my god, those psychos. *That's what the Ethics Committee wants.* Instead of wasting MTF after MTF on missions that constantly target or crush humans, they want a future single MTF operative that is completely unstoppable with a protective mouth guard, with super anomalous strength as good as Samsara, but can be easily killed if it turns traitor by having a bomb placed in its insides by 0-5. They might even use the fully trained Adult to replace the lost Samsara agent. That's so evil yet so clever I don't know what to think about it...

If the instance of 977 that was dug up and examined died shortly after, couldn't the Foundation just let captured 974s go into that hibernating state, dig them up, and then just let them die to avoid feeding it live children or risking it reach its adult forms? I feel like that would be way less of a headache for the Foundation (and the kids being sacrificed, and their families, and the staff that would be killed if 974 reaches its adult form...you get the picture).

Honestly one of my least favorite SCPs. Too often writers make the SCP foundation just out and out evil. There is no reason to feed this thing a constant stream of children. "Cold, not cruel" is a good rule that is almost never actually followed and it ruins the setting for me.

Keeping in mind there are many SCP writers, this is one of these cases where you gotta tell the specific author "your story sucks, I reject it" and make your own headcanon. Yes but if there skin is naturally resistant to a high calibre, high Velocity piercing rounds then a scalpel shouldn't be able to pierce there still hard skin as skin takes like 72 hours for human skin to start to soften and decompose, but I suppose you are probably right

IMO this is one of the sloppier SCPs that have been written. It isn't in line with a lot of foundation principles. Although "Cold not cruel" is thrown out the window by a lot of contributors, this is completely ridiculous given that such an entity would very much have a kill order on it, at the very least it's underground stage to prevent it going to adulthood. Fantastic video on it though.

Sigh...I doubt this is the channel's fault, and more likely a flaw in the writing of the SCP. Giving them children to keep them in their child form seems absolutely absurd, when you could just dig them up while they're in their underground dormant form and let them expire like the first one. Let it eat animals for several months, let it go dormant, dig it up, rinse and repeat. It would only expend 1 or 2 974s per year, which seems a lot better than 365 days divided by cycles of about 12-19 days, totalling between about 19-30 innocent children per 974 per year. Edit: yeah this video is fine. It's the original article's problem, and a lot of people on the SCP website seem to agree with me, but the article is nearly 10 years old so no real hope of changing it now.
