28:09 The bot has just been employing the human strategy of frantically shuffling tiles and mumbling "there has to be something here" while you hope they don't see their winning bingo in time. It truly passes the Turing test

Mack on Wheel of Fortune: I'd like to sell a vowel
@paulthompson14665 ай бұрын
Hi Mack, as a CSW UK player I considered stopping watching your videos to avoid confusion. I wish I knew how to quit you but I just find your videos too intriguing so I guess I'll have to continue to watch :). Hopefully one day they'll unite the dictionaries.
@galoomba55595 ай бұрын
not further splitting the dictionaries would be a good start. looking at you wgpo

Thanks Paul! I totally get where you're coming from with the dictionary confusion, I think we can all agree that dictionary unification would be great for the game (which dictionary specifically to unify to maybe more up for debate, but I think the principle of unifying is not). But in any case I really appreciate your continued support of my channel! :)

BestBot is likely running an endgame solver when the bag is 1 tile or empties, which is different code path and significantly slower than the NN, I assume.

On the (C)OOLIE/(C)OOEE turn, I was thinking about 9J (P)OLIO to keep the Es, and still set up an S hook. It does have a vowel-heavy leave, but the pool had gotten consonant-heavy by then. Also, I was a fan of ILIA over the AIOLIs, but I didn't analyze the position in as much depth as you did.
@mackmeller5 ай бұрын
POLIO looks reasonable -- I do worry a bit about keeping EEO when I'm floating more vowels with POLIO, but the consonant-heaviness of the pool does help a little bit. Tough position for sure!

I'm curious what the algorithms are that would cause the Bot to tank for almost three minutes 🤔

For that COOEE play, I think you have to draw the S and the Z to win, but I agree that's the right play. Same idea next move, I think you have to play AIOLI to 015 and pray.

7:20 You had ORYX there, though the leave is a bit messy
@mackmeller5 ай бұрын
Ah good point! I would go with OXY though for the exact reason you mentioned, the R really helps the AEI leave a lot for the cost of just 2 points
@AmaranthRBY5 ай бұрын
I think I like exchanging over COOEE, it's only 8 points and the board sucks, you're not going to fall behind that much more by giving the bot a turn. With exchanging you give yourself a chance at an actual good rack (instead of keeping I into a tile bag that's 33% Is), and burn through 4 less tiles to give yourself more time too. If the bot makes a tiny blocking play to deny the spot over the D of TANGED it's basically passed the turn back and you can *then* open somewhere with a leave that has slightly more hope than ILO
@mackmeller5 ай бұрын
Hmm, interesting -- can't argue with that. Would probably keep E, maybe even EE or EO given how consonant-heavy the pool is. These kinds of positions are so hard...
