Hey Scrapman better idea for your flyer. Attach it to a vehicle you would use as a moving platform. When you wanna go to a warehouse detach it and fly up, less fuel used and it's fast and easy to get loot

Hey Scrapman, I know fliers are fuel-guzzlers, but if you were to keep using it for exploration and loot runs I have a few ideas for improvements you could make: 1. You could rotate the fuel container so the fuel bar is facing the camera to make it easier to tell how much is left (if the game lets you) 2. For nighttime exploration you could put headlights on the bottom to act as landing lights (and because it would look cool) 3. Just in case you run out of fuel and need to make an emergency landing you could add some wheels and an electric engine (because it runs on batteries and not gas)

Saw you fly over a bit of landscape on your way home at the end of the video and noticed a pond and chemical plant close together, ideal for a satellite base geared to create concrete - I thinks its time to expand your world. I see a farm, a factory building for concrete, maybe a train station and who knows, maybe one day Hank will have a rail system he can travel the scrap world. (In the best Bob Ross you can do) Maybe in your world you have these tiny paradise towns. Wait there, this needs a big Tree! Expand Hanks universe and blow his mind! Hank deserves the best.

Here's hoping that official mod support will come in for Survival Mode soon. It'll be far more fuel efficient to use lift from wings and the like for long flights. That, or better efficiency for Thrusters.

I suggest that thrust is on a button and instead, left right does the yaw (good if it already does) And forward backwards moves an engine speed up two notches that will move a suspension for use of suspension glitch, or it does roll You might also make an extending weight that lowers from below the flyer while airborn to make the ship stay flat(not too heavy)

Yeah, a gyro would add more weight and thus increase fuel consumption, and since he has no forward thrust he needs to be able to tilt forward to fly forward.

The reason it's not staying stable is because your center of mass is above the thrust, So move the thrusters up so the bottom of you suspension glitch area is touching the ground when you land. That will make the center of mass = to the thrust so it's not top heavy.

The stuff won't respawn because the warehouse is a different world, that is why it lags when you go in the elevator, it is loading and putting you in a different saved world.

loved this! suggestion going forward. completely new base. mostly for aesthetic reasons. you have the medieval castle, now make a treehouse. or a scifi base. an interesting spot to build is the water treatment plant. one, it is just a cool looking place. two, it has chemicals, water, and tons of respawning loot crates. note if you build there then tote bots and a boss will spawn in nearly any uncovered area inside. so be cautious.

Chests are heavy! If you only had one or two, then you could probably turn the thrust down a couple of notches and save some fuel. You could also replace all that wood with bubble blocks to cut even more weight.

I did a 4 engine flier. I struggle with some of the logic stuff so I made it simple. I first putt he engines on risers so the are slightly above the center of gravity. I made a simple suspension glitch so it tips slower too. Then I put 4 wheel car steering on it and put bearings on the engine mounts with stops so the engines can only pivot 45 degrees. That way I have the thrusters on 1 or the left mouse button and regular AD for steering and WS to tip the engines forward or back. Then I balanced it as much as I could. It works pretty good. and even with level 3 engines I can explore pretty far before running out of gas. I have a large storage container with 200 extra fuel, 100 spuds, 5 veggie burgers, and a beacon just in case. I also have a bed as the bottom frame. Still trying to get the hang of it, but it works. I need another 60 component kits to max the engines out though.

another tip for your lag, you have a lot of lights... lights require your computer to process each one... to many and you got lag... just like in minecraft Idk if you looked into that ever or read about that, but to many light sources can cause lag as it requires more off the computer to render as it has to run a calculation well i guess simply put, its easier to calculate 1 block for example, because all the computer has to calculate is the position of that block all other calculations for how it should look based on where your player is located etc... but when you add light, it shines light to x amount of other blocks, so now not only does the main source have to be calculated, but each block that is lit up has to be calculated, how it should look based on players position... thats probably the simplest way to explain it.

It seems to be a pretty small and light vehicle at first BUT: those four chests are the smaller and heavier chest versions, which are killing the advantage of the light wood completely. Further are the thrusters on max, which never is a good idea to set it on, unless you really need that power for heavy vehicles. I made myself a flying vehicle for two people made of wood 3 including a big chest, fuel tank and a bed, in case of dying in a warehouse. With this thing I was able to do a complete run along the whole island coast and used about 80 fuel... Get rid of two of those chests and don’t do bursts on max dude. It burns your fuel like a F1 car on top speed! I think, putting a switch to the thrusters and setting them a few notches down would may slow you down a bit but would also save a lot of fuel.

A simple controller based monorail rider that doesn't use any fuel, and lets you zip around your world to locations you set:) Build it off the top of Scrap Manor so you are high off the ground, and have access to the rooftops:)

You could attach your flyer to your car and then drive to somewhere, like a warehouse, and then detach your flyer and then fly up and do stuff.

@ScrapMan You could possibly save fuel if you use logic to pulse the boosters. Also, you could have better balance if you add a bed to the back of the fuel tank (or top back if you rotate it). Love all of your vids.

Scrap man it is turning on its own because it has a high centre of mass compared to its centre of thrust so if I t is slightly tilted it will continue to tilt when you apply thrust thus making it unstable

Idk for sure but i suspected the suspension glitch is creating a drag like effect when you are going fast which is more noticeable gunning straight up and that's why it seems so inconsistent.

I would suggest making your flyer lighter so it doesn't guzzle so much.. my flyer doesn't use a fuel tank or chests, but with 2 thrusters and a bed you'll often end up with just a little more gas after looting, than when you started! :)

It would be nice if the devs created an actual trailer that could be attached and allow you to store at least one (maybe two) vehicles in it like an inventory. If this were possible you could transport your flier (in an attached inventory) while using a less-resource intensive vehicle to get around.

Something that might help with the base lag - weld your vehicles to the deck when you're not using them.

tips for making the flyer weigh less: - replace the wood with bubble wrap - reduce the number of controllers (1 level 5 has more connections than 4 level 2 with less weight) - use a saddle instead of a drivers saddle (1/3rd the weight) - check the weight of the large chest vs 4 small ones - also look into a pulse circuit for the engines (efficiency)

Be pretty cool to make a randing pad that is Shaped as a gear. And have it connected from the underwater floor, not to the base to prevent it from lagging. And also give cookbot a kitchen in the castle.

Load it up on a ground vehicle, drive it close to scrap city then fly it. They don't drive an actual race car or excavator to where they are going to use them, they haul them there.

Every press of the thrusters eats up fuel, you are better with long presses than taps usually. Also 2 or 3 large chests would be better weight and space wise than 4 small chests

Rebuild the flyer with an engine, wheels and turning, tricycle style so you can use road mode to get to where you want to go then flyer mode to see whats around/get out of trouble

the suspension control is sorta bad in survival, since it can randomly stop working. I don't mean glitch out, I mean that the entire glitch becomes ineffective, and even the stabilization stops working. I've had this problem with my flier, and kAN also had the problem with his motorcycles.

yeeeeeeah i built a flyer and i got reeeeaaaally tired of fuel runs for all my delivery and exploration vehicles and the flyer so i modded the game file to random the oil geysers to 5-10 each. so much easier to get all the fuel now. focus more on the build and less on the gathering. did the file mod in leu of automated harvesting. figured if i cant have automated oil gathering i can make gathering ridiculously easy. i also learned the area i was traveling 20 mins to get caged farmers was actually over a cliff 2 mins from my base. makes exploring so much greater. my next games im cranking out a flyer ASAP to ease in exploration. but im waiting on a few major updates to give more content.

it does not matter much how much fuel you use because you are flying a very long distance, very fast. You could also do a test to compare car to plane.

You should build a pad above the main vehicle that you use to weld the flyer whit the vehicle so you go to the ruins whit a vehicle and fly to the rooftop whit the flyer so its saving fuel

Ok, so Scrapman. Not going to lie, it is quite good you made a "flyer", but how about I help? It would save you so much fuel; it could help! Firstly, the design. You have a design with a concentrated amount of parts essential for ts function: Ill call it the core. You also have the thrusters connecting off what I am going to call "legs". The legs should be a tiny bit closer (2-3 blocks) but whatever you want. Secondly, the mobility. The thrusters are the boost, so whatever direction they face is roughly the way you are going to go. The way you do it is good, but not good enough. You have to tilt the vehicle at a near 40 - 50 degree angle in order to get the vehicle going. I suggest getting a dangling piece of wood spinning on a free bearing. When the sensor gets activated, run it into an OR gate to decrease the thrust a bit and keep a good forward motion going. Make it so that the back of the plane is more heavy than the front, but still keep a good enough height. If this helps Scrapman, you're welcome. If not, dislike it as much as you can. Thanks!

Maybe to help with lag. Maybe you can build a tall building and put your less used cars or something on it away from your base.
