had a 2003 LS and i loved that car, was rear ended in it by a toyota camry, and the camry was totaled, and all it did to my monte was crack the rear bumper cover and bend my tailpipe a little, these were stylish, tough, great riding cars, keep up good work with videos, need to show more cars getting crushed, although i'm glad some of these classics are getting a new lease on life!

I have a friend that used to have one not sure what year hers was but it looks like this one. Her's was black on black SS Supercharged, it would haul ass, It was also a really comfortable car to ride in. I think it's really cool that a young guy like you is into the older big cars. I've had four different Town Cars myself, they are really awesome cars, I just wish Lincoln would have kept up with technology on them. I have a 2013 MKS now with all the bells and whistles I really like it, but there is no comparison with the ride of a Town Car.

My favorite Monte Carlo was my first real nice car I ever bought. A 1977 - the last year of the big style. Power everything, swivel bucket seats and a moon roof. It came with a 350 4 brl but I think it didn't make more than 175 hp. Just the same it lasted for 200K! In those days that was a miracle!

Tons of 3.8s in every junk yard. Buicks, pontiacs and chevys. If I had my way i'd wait around to find a supercharged 3.8 to go in. My old lady has a 2002 impala i bought her 2 years ago for a couple hundred bucks, recently found out the previous owner swapped out the 3.4 for the naturally aspirated 3.8. Found out by chance that the VIN programmed to the PCM didn't match the car and I ran the VIN on the GM catalog at work (didn't really know anything about these engines at the time). That car hauls ass

@UsefulEntertainment7 жыл бұрын
Mike Fifer they have a habit of losing intake gaskets and antifreeze gets in the oil. I've seen it happen to so many of them including mine. It sucks I lost all the main bearings so I dropped the pan, replaced them and it ate the new set over night. I had to get a junk yard engine.
@gosportjamie7 жыл бұрын
+Useful Entertainment It sounds like a classic case of a basically solid engine being ruined by the cheap, crappy gaskets being used to build them, like the Cadillac Northstar and the Rover K-Series...

I liked the 73 through 77 models and of course the 80's Monte SS cars. Those earlier models were just begging for a 5.3 LS swap in my opinion. These were less pretty but certainly NOT ugly by any means. I'm negotiating a deal on a 2002 now so I can save it. Not the SS, is black with tan interior, and has the 3.4 but still worthy of preserving.

I have a question. How is it an SS if it has a v6? That's like saying my camaro RS is an SS
@MXguy957 жыл бұрын
The biggest engine this generation monte carlo was a v6. It was just a "higher performance" v6. They even made them with factory superchargers. No your old RS is and RS for a reason. Low hp low options. This car being the SS was higher up in the trim line. SS doesnt mean it MUST have a v8 Foxy.. do some google searches on the monte's and see .
@chevyfan12519927 жыл бұрын
SS is relative to what car the badge is on. A Cobalt SS only has a four cylinder but it's still quicker than the base model. SS doesn't equal V8. It hasn't since the 70's

If you need "quality" parts check out ZZPerformance.com they have all the parts you will need for any Series 2 and 3 3800. I would get rid of that plastic upper intake manifold and do a swap for the aluminum one off of a Series 3 motor. You will need a throttle body adapter "which zzp sells" because the series 3 3800 is drive-by-wire. The plastic manifolds can warp and allow coolant leaks in the motor. They made a better plastic design upper intake manifold. But go with the aluminum one. Way better. You just have to do some custom things to adapt the series 3 upper intake manifold to a series 2. Google it or search on KZbin.

I had a friend who was a GM mechanic and he told me they had issues if, when you changed the oil, you did not prefill the filter, something about the pick up tube design on the 3800s being different and you would run the engine dry for too long. Dunno, I've always filled my filters before putting them on
