Recycling has gone full circle in my lifetime. As a kid in the 60’s brass and copper were always collected and sold. In the 80’s recycling became trendy which meant that the municipality charged the taxpayer to collect and sell refuse. It was a money maker for the waste management company’s regardless where the trash wound up. Today when I see companies like yours, recovering and saving valuable materials I think it’s fantastic and good for you, and everybody.
@ProjectShopFl2 жыл бұрын
Thank you!
@littlejackalo53262 жыл бұрын
The recycling done by the city is a completely different animal than collecting metals like scrapers do. Collecting bottles and newspapers at the curb is more expensive that it's worth, so that's why you need to pay for it. Collecting, transporting, storing before sorting, sorting, storing the sorted stuff, and transporting to the docks is super expensive. Now that China isn't accepting our recyclables for sorting and reclamation, it's becoming harder and harder to get rid of it, and a lot of municipalities are just sending everything that the magnet (steel) and Eddy current magnets (aluminum) aren't pulling out.
@peterparsons71412 жыл бұрын
@@littlejackalo5326 very accurate. All the municipalities have individual contracts. There are some very bad contracts. The worst ones allow the recycler to do what they want with garbage. Sell what they can make money on and landfill the rest. It is getting better, and it is a changing business. People need to know , just because the municipality has a recycling program that cost them extra money that recycling is happening. More people care about what’s happening, so that’s good.

I have been a scrapper for over 45 years. You have good ideas. As a suggestion, bring your work closer to your hydraulic presses. Your cycle time would be cut in half if your work table under your presses were 3" closer, your transformer productivity would may double. The other guy wastes a lot of time having to use a rod to extend the press to push out the steel core out of the winding. Make a table that brings that work right to the core that eliminates having to go through all that extra work every time you push out a core.

Time is money. The transformer press cylinder is retracting too high, wasting time....the steel laminate barrel should be in front of you where you can just push the crushed side parts on through with one hand while sliding the copper core down to the next man. Redesign the vise to be foot operated instead of using both hands to close it, one side solid to the bench, the other slides to close the vise. Just a matter of lowering the cylinder frame on the sides and welding half the vise to the bench. I could watch you guys recycle all day long! @MrWhizardsLizard2 жыл бұрын
Next time you go to your scrap yard ask the guy if he has a small plate half inch thick of 75 to 120 XK type Steel. That's roll over protection material used in the manufacturer of cabs for like D12 and stuff. It's high tensile strength much higher than normal A36 or low carbon steel that has a tensile strength of around 36,000 lb per square inch. Obviously 75 to 120 XK would have a tinsel strength of 75 to 120,000 lb per square inch. But it's high vanadium content, gives it an impact rating of 3 to 4 times it's actual tinsel strength. This is what you want to make them Vice clamps out of for them Transformers. It might cost you a few bucks to get the plate but it'll last 10 to 20 times longer than what you got there now.

Excellent content ! On your transformer press you may be able to increase production by lowering that unit so it doesnt have to travel so far and consider upgrading to a foot petal instead of a button controller , just some advice . I like your videos start pumping more out !

Thanks, When I am running by my self or when the 2nd press had its own pump I would stop the return close to the transformer just like you said. When both machines are running off 1 pump and 2 people working it will return all the way. It's a work in progress. lol
