How much copper is inside a powered subwoofer? Join me as I do a complete tear-down to find out. Once everything is scrapped out, I melt the copper, purify it and pour a nice ingot from it. I have a whole pallet full of electronics and appliances that I want out of my warehouse. I'm setting aside all the copper I get from each item in a separate stack so we can see how much copper I had sitting there worth of junk.

Hey thanks so much man!!! Its a really a satisfying hobby, especially when you see those copper ingots start to pile up! All of that metal on the table was recovered from roadside appliances and electronics. Over 130lbs of copper 😁. Welcome to the channel!

Thanks so much bro! I was shocked at that transformer! I have an even bigger powered sub I just picked up outside my apartment where the tenants put the trash. I wonder if it’s got more than 20 ozs? 🤔 Thanks for watching and commenting buddy! 😁

You can! Metal casting is a lot of fun! Plus all the metal is free so the only cost is the initial furnace and mold purchase. Fireplace tongs work great to hold the crucible (I got mine for free). The only continuous cost is the propane.

Holes in bar. Contamination? Try soaking copper in muriatic acid for an hour, then rinse in water. It's adding a step. Try it. Also try adding spoon full of borax to container while melting in furnace. Should act as flux. A cleaner.

Could be contamination, could be the mold wasn’t heated enough. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Who knows. Thanks for watching 🙂

Ist es möglich bei den Rotor vom Elektromotor das Kupfer herauszuschmelzen? Thanks for the Answear.
@Scrap2Cast
@Scrap2Cast Жыл бұрын
Yes it is possible! The problem is the furnace will melt thin steel and it would mix with the copper. I normally do not melt those, I sell them to the scrap yard as is. You could get a rotary tool with a cutting disc and get the copper from it that way. It would also reduce if not eliminate cross contaminating the steel and copper. Thanks for the inquiry and greetings from the USA! 😁
