Scale Model Railings and fences are often overlooked as being insignificant or redundant details, when in fact, they can really make a model or scene stand out. This subject matter has two parts: The first is general construction and the second is painting and weathering.

As usual, this video is world-class, Boomer. From the much appreciated transparency with little mistakes, to the best possible solutions - square angles using a clever jig and backstops, best glue adhesion methods, plus many more modeling gems. Who would've thought a simple model railing video could be so immensely valuable?! Thank you!

Those weathered planks on the pier are absolutely amazing. You have really terrific eye. The double-sided tape is great for locating the railing, but I don't see how it can be strong enough if you don't spike it to the pier. The plastic certainly is flexible but that taped butt-joint won't hold at all.
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 2 жыл бұрын
It's not the tape Randy. The tape was to cover against paint. The beam is fused to the deck with solvent. It's never coming off. ;-) Cheers.

Measure twice, cut twice. 😱 If you fix it, it is not a mistake but a reason to make sure you obey situational awareness. 👍 You have a good eye for the minutia though.

Along the center of the tracks…. Could you replicate oil staining from the locomotives passing over. Looking at the thumbnail, it would make it look more realistic. In fact… you could add it everywhere you have teckage

Just a quick question about the siding closest to the front of the layout on glover road. I've layed the main line down and now want to put a flex track length to connect the siding at both ends. The problem is getting the curves at both ends to look uniformly the same. Any suggestions? I don't have any sectional curved track, so I'm kind of wingin it.
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 2 жыл бұрын
Using flex track as you suggest is the way to go. I just wing it, eye-ball it in. You can do a paper rub (lay paper over the first one and rub with a pencil), then cut it out. Then flip the cut-out over for the other one if you want. ;-)

No. I worked on several different shuttles during a time where shuttle models in film seemed to be popular in both American and Canadian film industries. Adam is an awesome modeler!

@@boomerdiorama Interestingly, as much as I have seen of Adam, I have rarely seen him make a model from scratch. I have seen him, just infrequently. He has spoken on numerous occasions about the painstaking detail he went through creating a shuttle bay for a blockbuster movie, the movie where a bunch of retired astronauts get tasked with a mission.
