That's golf playa much like life. Analysis by paralysis in real life leads to no action, and then dealing with that consequence. Make a decision, commit, then deal with it - nothing is so bad that it will destroy us. If you are making a decision that destroys you, then it probably was a bad decision earlier on and it's too far gone! That's a quadruple bogey in life

I play solo rounds for two reasons. 1 I love practicing real life scenarios on the course rather than going to a driving range and just banging away endlessly for no real gain. 2 the ability to think clearly, low stress and reinforce what I do well, play golf the way it should be played enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I’ve never seen an ugly golf course. Wadda game!

I LOVE solo rounds! So much time to just clear your head, even from your daily stresses and routines. Every shot you can contemplate as you’re walking up and also, if it’s not busy you can play a couple extra balls to practice different shots in your game! I love it. Peaceful and rewarding!
@jackmartineau36874 жыл бұрын
Yes, I definitely play solo rounds. Especially love it when I'm the first tee time in the morning and nobody is ahead of me. I can play at my own pace, get in a rhythm that isn't dictated by the people I'm with or the groups around me, hit extra shots whenever I want to work on the game, and I'll play in well under 3 hours. I also find it super relaxing to be out there by myself and like being done before the hottest part of the day.
@ianrobertson16472 жыл бұрын
That is EXACTLY how I am currently playing most of my Golf and it is both relaxing and helps me think better about all of my Shots. You start thinking about them long before you get to them as opposed to chatting to a colleague and only when you arrive at your ball do you start to think about how you are going to hit it.

Love Solo rounds quite early in the morning when you share the course with wildlife and bird song, scoring doesn't matter just being out playing really helps take the stress of every day life to float away with the morning breeze. I only started playing solo rounds since watching your channel. I never had the confidence to play solo before but you taught me Zero F given and so this year (January) I started solo rounds to practice what I had been trying on the range. Real play with real fairways and tricky lays has helped develop my game. WOTP philosophy has enable me to enjoy my golf and I am on the cusp of breaking 100 (34 handicap last year down to around 28/29 this year). I walk around the course talking to myself but with your voice saying waddashot, waddaplaya or that’s your birthday hole etc I always analyse the course before I go to it, have a plan to attack the par 3’s or short par 4’s and taking ego golf out of play and use the club I’m comfortable with and taking two shots well. Thanks Baus Matt waddaplaya waddaguru waddalegend

I like playing with my buddies but a solo round is a way to have peace and relaxation. You can enjoy the course,the trees the quiet. Your game improves as you concentrate and get into a zone especially if you walk. You contemplate strategy,club selection pick your safe areas and also choose which pins to attack. If you have never walked a round just by yourself you must try it, totally different game.

Nice video Matt, loving it. In Germany we will be changing from our "old" handicap system to the World Handicap Index next year. We are expecting to drop around 2-3 shots each as a result of how it is calculated - which is exactly as you describe above. In our current rules it also actually states that the handicap shows the potential of a player, ie on an average difficult course in good weather etc, playing a GOOD round. So we're not supposed to play our handicap every time we go out. Personally I try to remember that it's just a number. On that note, got to go out practising to get to scratch! Haha, thumbs up to the Playa-in-Chief! PS: Starting to see planted feathers on my golf course recently, the movement is spreading!
@vibegodcartel4 жыл бұрын
I'm from Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. I played a private course today and on the 5th tee box from the tips I see someone has planted a feather right next to the marker. I explained what this meant to my friend and then I smashed driver, was on in two and drained the putt. So you see Playas, you have to plant feathers to grow birdies for your fellow golfers as well, and hopefully if enough feathers get planted, you will find one that will grow birdies for you.

I play solo rounds all the time and have been since I was a little 10 year old. Dad was a member of a country club. I’d play 9, jump in the pool, play the back, jump in the pool and play the front again. It’s relaxing to me and it’s easier for me to self-diagnose/correct any swing problems. It’s easy to zone out as well. Sometimes, I just play better when I’m watching squirrels, birds and lizards between shots.

I do occasionally play solo, however it's so crowded in my area I don't get the chance that often. Playing solo allows me to really concentrate and take my time. It also allows me to take more than one shot to try to shape the ball and try different things. I can take the aggressive shot and also be the playa and stay out of trouble with that safe shot . With no distractions you can really accomplish a lot.

Solo rounds at twilight are the best - so many reasons - decompress the day, no technology, just me being with me. Not many people on the course so I can amble along. I play two balls - 1st ball is my "live" ball and the second ball is the one I "try" shots my stress shots with. For instance, my live ball gets the driving iron off the tee but then I try the other ball with my driver. In a sense I want to practice creating stress so I can feel it in my body and move away from it, or to use different techniques to dissipate it right then and there. I love to play the forward tees during these times as well, put different clubs in my hands, make different decisions. And this is why I play solo rounds. Or sometimes it's because all my friends bailed on me. :)

It also allows me to play with no pressure, dropping another ball if I want to try a different shot whenever I want!

Solo rounds are a chance for low to no pressure golf. Some of my best golf is solo, and so, very revealing of a mindset we should have on round we play with others. Ego is in check solo.

Excellent vlog Matt. I only play solo rounds so I have to worry less about the arc of the flight of a thrown hybrid.

169y into green with slight incline and hook lie. You busted your shoulder with a power swing, pulled hook and you were still short. Obvious a 3/4 7 iron was the play and it would have been congruent with your strategy. Thanks for your videos. Your improved play has also helped me improve my play. Cheers.

I play solo to get more practice, I hit extra shots, will sometimes keep 2 balls in play, if I'm at difficult yardage (e.g. 40yds, 50yds, etc) I might hit 5 balls up to get a feel for that yardage, lots of chips as well, etc.

Solo rounds are the best because it's a totally mindful experience. As a beginner, I'm not all that great yet either. So playing alone allows me to practice the little cues you give. My most recent favorite I've been working on is "slapping the sand" I've been absolutely FERTILIZING the greens with my sand fellow playas!
