The reveal was already ruined for me (detective Bailey) but I think they did a good job hiding the son and daughter thing and revealing them as richies families for sure got me. That’s what makes this reveal cool to me. It’s new. You can say it copied 2 but that makes it even more meta to me. Guess it will be a hit or miss with people

The writing with script wasn’t that great by the time the reveal you kinda don’t give a fuck no more and the reveal just falls flat. I’m not taking the representation of minorities I liked that but it just sucks when representation is there but the movie isn’t that good

@@democratresistance7847 absolutely, the film was so fresh the entire time up until the reveal. The climax unfolded way too quickly for me too. Remember scream 1 when they were at stus house for the last 45 minutes of the film. I want them to do more stuff like that. The unmasking and then deaths of the Ghostfaces in 6 all happens in like 5 minutes. Was still a great movie of course but that 3rd act was pretty weak compared to other scream movies. Even 5 had a better reveal and motive , at least it was new , and I wasn’t even a big fan of 5. 6 is still better overall despite its misgivings.

First Scream movie in theaters for me, I gotta say I love this movie. That opening is amazing something new and fresh for the series. I love the core 4 group Chad being my favorite. Ghost face being a badass, and great new lines. And finally the reveal ik people didn’t like it but for me I did, it made Richie a better Ghostface, and the family being killers too, yes it’s over the top with there acting but I didn’t care because it was fun. Finally for me it’s my third favorite Scream movie.

The way you explained Gale’s regression is honestly how I took it. It didn’t upset me because I thought it made sense for her to regress this way after the shock of Dewey’s death wore off. A lot of trauma survivors do this kind of thing. It might be upsetting or frustrating, but it’s pretty realistic imo. Gale has always been known for regressing and growing throughout the movies. She’ll grow a bit, back slide slightly in the following movie, and so on. I also like that they don’t let Gale get away with her regression either. She faces consequences for it, both big and small.

It would have been nice if Gale apologized to Sam for writing the book and said something like “I wrote the book because I was angry and I blamed you for Dewey’s death that’s why in the book I portrayed Dewey as the hero and you in a bad light. I’m sorry for writing a book. I was angry. I should have just wrote the book solely about Dewey like I said I would, but I’m still learning and growing to be a better person for Dewey. I’m very sorry.” She could have said something like that to Sam when they were talking in the theater that would have been nice.

Gale's regressive arc did feel a little jarring at first, but I was able to better swallow it for a number of reasons. For one thing, Gale's always been an opportunist at heart, but she had people in her life that brought out her better qualities. Now, after Dewey's passing, she doesn't really have that, so doubling down on her worst qualities as a reactionary...reaction (i know words trust me) makes a reasonable amount of sense to me. Secondly, I like that it isn't smoothly resolved either. Tara and Sam want nothing to do with her and the betrayal they feel is almost certainly reflective of how the audience is likely to feel after Gale completely went back on her word. They're appropriately angered, and it takes a while for them to be willing to accept any help from her at all. My feelings on this film have been weird. I came out of it the first time around, confident that it was my new favorite sequel. The Core Four were fantastic, Ghostface was a fucking menace in a way that we've rarely seen from this franchise, and the tension was some of the most palpable we've ever seen. After some discussion, I came to realize some of the movie's faults, but after a second watch, some of these faults I came to the conclusion were not as egregious as I was made to believe, and some things actually made more sense to me when I paid closer attention (I was one of the many people that was baffled by Ethan's actions during the subway scene, but I caught on to what was actually happening later - wish it wasn't so vague though). I think the meta commentary was a huge miss though and felt like kind of an afterthought. The killer reveals were a little underwhelming, but I felt like the motivation felt a little more distinct from Mrs. Loomis. Dermot's performance though...at no point was I convinced that this guy was an unhinged serial killer, or even really a grieving parent. If that was what they were going for, sure, but somehow I doubt that's the case. He's just so...weirdly casual in his delivery?? Overall, I can't say that it's my second favorite film in the franchise anymore, but It's definitely somewhere in the middle, which is high praise because even the worst Scream movie is mid at worst. We don't call it the worst Scream movie, just the least best.

Hearing the interviews from Matt and Tyler where they admit they are leaning into the heightened reality and unrealism really took me a step down. One of the defining quotes of this franchise for me is Kristen Bell's quote in Scream 4: "There's something real, about a guy with a knife, who just... snaps. It could really happen." That's what made Scream different from a lot of other movies in the genre. I don't know if they directors are pressured by the studio to have the script be a certain way, but Scream 6 would never play out in real life. And you can say it's meta all you want, but at the end of the day it's just a poorly written story. Ultimately, I don't want to hear them saying they are taking any swings... 5 and 6 have shown they are playing it annoyingly safe. Here's what I took away: - Returning characters were well developed, but new characters were very forgettable. - Plot was paper thin and required too much suspension of disbelief, while going for a serious tone (the FBI agent and investigative journalist following these cases couldn't recognize the killer's family, Quinn being switched out for a prosthetic, etc.). - Being stabbed in the chest/HEAD multiple times is surviveable and only serves as a tool to sideline characters when needed. - Movie is too afraid to kill off fan-favorites, thus no real stakes, just cheap shock value. - Same formula plays out with no cliffhangers, other than the predictable 'Sam may be psycho' narrative, forcing the franchise to introduce future villains by reinterpreting previous installments (e.g. Richie's portrayal in 5 vs 6). The second Ghostface unmasks, they lose 30 IQ points and go for a prolonged villain monologue. - Ghostface shrine and endless callbacks along with overdone fan service is just a cheap bid for nostalgia, while prolonging the movie with filler. - Mindy's character is tangential to the plot, instead is just there to deliver the "rules scene" and call out suspects, but doesn't assert her knowledge of horror movies and survival instincts. Kirby's character does even less.

I would not mind "heightened reality and unrealism" if the finale was something grander, and stakes were also higher. Scream VI was my first Scream I felt kind of underwhelemed with the finale. And I got to tell you it was a very strange and akward feeling to leave the cinema and not being as hyped as I was with previous movies (Scream 3 included, yes it's flawed, but I realizes most of it's flaws while getting older, also I've learnt to appreciate Scream 3 a lot over the years, Craven and the crew did amazing job with it considerign it's torubled production). I guess I had my expectations set way too high. But the campaing "I am something different", the opening kill line "who gives a fuck about the movies?!", the shrine, that countdown with previous killers' masks, faster and more vicious Ghostface, all of that seemed to lead to something more fresh and groundbreaking. And what I got was a rehash of Scream 2 finale, with one extremly dull killer character (Ethan), one killer whose comeback was so farfetched (Quinn), loads of maaaaaaaaaaassive plot holes and all of "killed" characters surviving. Don't get me wrong. I had a great time watching new Scream, it's still a good movie. Second time around I even enjoyed the finale more, and I am planning to watch it one more time on a big screen. There are so many good things about it, especially all core four character moments and drama, Sam and Tara are even better than in Scream 2022, action sequences are tense, all of that is amazing. But really new Screams have some big time lazy writing moments :) Only time will tell if Scream VI will stand the test of time, and be as fun to rewatch as previous chapters. But at the very moment I think it's my least favourite one, not a bad movie, but the most frustrating one since it could so much better if only they foucsed more on avoiding some really stupid things. Cheers!

Well said. And yeah, you can't sell the terror of someone with a knife if the surrounding circumstances are always heightened reality, or in many cases in this film, dumbed-down reality, like the hot neighbor screaming out the window for 10 minutes instead of calling 911, then pulling an extendable ladder out of his ass, as if crossing it 50 feet in the air is at all a reasonable idea. Also how do none of these characters carry weapons ?????

This film kind of breaks my heart, because I could tell a lot of love & soul was put into it. The producers' love for Scream and drive to make this a great Scream film is palpable, but in doing so, they allowed themselves to sacrifice basic logical plot progression, reasonable character choices, and believable sequences. This is why all reboots/sequels/remakes need to stop, because producers always get distracted by the shiny legacy of the work they're making and forget to engage the basic tenants of storytelling: logical plots that allow audience members to suspend disbelief for as long as possible with as few illogical potholes along the way. Audiences will forgive a few, but not tons of glaring ones like in this film. Filmmakers always seem willing to sacrifice that, despite it being the most important element of a movie to most audience members. It really is what makes the difference between someone considering a movie "good" or "bad." It's fascinating how few Hollywood filmmakers understand that.

I can't figure out why they built up this elaborate characterization of the killer as being a "student of the previous killers" including the absurd ghostface shrine (totally took me out of it), and an apparent obsession with all the previous killers, including leaving their masks at each murder scene, when none of the 3 killers expressed any interest in or connection to any of the previous films' killers except the most recent. Hello Haunted Hippie! Still watching, but I just wanna say this, I love Scream 6! it has some flaws, but overall it’s a great film, better character development, some actual chase scenes, New York setting great! And some good brutal kills, the only issues I have is the plot armor for certain characters like Chad should’ve died, the meta commentary was kind of meh to me in this film, and the 3rd act should’ve been longer imo, it felt a bit rushed, but overall I like the killer reveals and motives, I know some fans don’t, but I do, I thought the reveals and motives were better executed then in Scream 2, also it’s great to see Sam getting more love in Scream 6, by a lot of fans, I’ve always liked Sam’s character, so this is awesome to see, also I some complaints by some fans saying that, they ruined Gales character development, idk how , cause Gale is in New York now, living her dream, it was only a matter of time, before the money and fame started getting to her head, so I’m not really surprised that Gale became like her old self again, plus now she’s lost Dewey, so who’s gonna tell Gale what to do? She’s really only ever listened to Dewey, so it makes imo why Gale became a bitch again, plus it’s not like she was like that the whole movie, Gale became nice and sympathetic again towards the end of the film, so they didn’t completely backtrack on her character development, she also still felt bad about Dewey’s death, so even though she didn’t write the book about him, she never completely forgot about him either, so there’s my opinions there, also I saw a comment here that said that this movie needed Sidney, I disagree this movie did not need Sidney at all, they explained why Sidney wasn’t here in this movie, and I thought it was a perfect explanation for me, I think some fans just need to be more open minded to new things, and not be negative towards a film immediately, just because of a character not being in it, of course what happened to Neve isn’t cool at all, but I’m just saying from a movie perspective I don’t think this movie suffered at all without Sidney.

Really enjoyed watching your Scream for Dummies videos and this one the last couple of days. I loved Scream VI. I haven't felt this excited about Scream since the late 90s. I do think the next film has to have more teeth. I mean I don't want any of the core four to die but there's only so long you can get away with that before all the tension in your movie evaporates. LIke it was fine in the other sequels keeping Sidney, Gale, and Dewey around because it was just them, you still had all those other characters to worry about. But with Sam, Tara, Chad, Mindy, Danny, Sidney, Kirby, and Gale all potentially in the next film that's like most of your cast, they can't all live.

Am I the only one who wasn’t shocked at Gale writing another book? lmao Gale’s just Gale. I think after losing Dewey she only had one thing to fall back on to distract her and that’s her work. I don’t think she’s came to terms with his death at all. I mean it’s only been a year since the events of 5 and she’s written a book, gone back to journalism and apparently working on a true crime series. "Who cares about movies?" I agree it's a good line. But where I disagree is that Bailey does care about them. Because he doesn't. It was one of those situations where a kid is really into something and the parent doesn't really understand it but still supports the passion out of love. Though, obviously, he let it go WAY too far. But supporting his child's interest in something isn't the same as caring about it himself. Think of a grandma who knows their granchild loves video games, but doesn't know the difference between an Xbox and a Playstation, and then gets a Nintendo Switch game for their grandchild to play on their computer. Edit: I'm just kinda used to the way Josh Segarra does anything. From Arrow season 5 to She-Hulk, to Scream 6, it's just Josh, man. And I liked that he was the ONLY love interest to tell the main character not trust him instead of reluctantly agreeing to stay away or outright refusing to separate. From that, to the fact he was okay with keeping his relationship with Sam quiet and on the down low, he's just the most supportive love interest in the franchise, and I love him for it. But I share a name with Mr. Segarra, so I might be biased.

Lets not forget something interesting about Neve: on Scream 5 when theyre talkin about the Stab movies, theres a comment about the only Stab movie that the lead final girl doesnt show is the Stab 6. So since i watched the Scream 5 for the first time this stayed on my mind, and I knew they werent bring Neve to Scream 6... i really think it was all planned out. But i believe she will comeback too.

If people say Stu is dead then people need to question their views on crazy takes on yes Quinn can grab and kill a big dude and throw his body like it was. The stabbing and shooting of people to them living. The crazy belief that a single cop can hide their daughters death.. okay.

5:59 I absolutely HATED Melissa in scream 5. I hated being ignored in the aspect that her acting was just not on par with Sidney. I love sidney and what neve has been able to do with her hit in fine with Sidney living on a happy life away from ghostface as long as it’s done tastefully and seeing Melissa walk those shoes kinda outta nowhere was a lot. Her acting and expressions would constantly take me out and is honestly one of the major factors that affects its rewatch ability for me. So no it’s not simply that she’s taking Sidney’s place ( which simply no one will ever do ) but it was HER ACTING. It was awful. But in scream 6 dammmmn that was changed. If anything she outshined Jenna Ortega charecters whole was THE SAVING GRACE of 5 for me.

I finally watched Scream 6! I went in with low expectations and it delivered on what I expected, more or less.. I'm going to try to be nice about the film, but I honestly thought that it was pretty trash.. I liked it more than Scream 5 but that's honestly not saying much.. I have no problem being brutally honest since I've been invested in the franchise for over 25 years.. I've come to the realization that these films aren't catered to me anymore.. it's for the younger crowd, which is totally fine because I understand that it's really the only way to keep the franchise going.. I'm not going to write an essay on why I didn't like the film, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when writers of movies or tv shows have no balls and are afraid of killing off characters or are afraid of offending audiences and try hard to appease them.. Stranger Things is a good example.. I mean I saw at least 3 characters get brutally stabbed and survived like it was nothing, that stuff is insulting.. also nothing really even happens in the first 45-50 minutes, it starts way too slow for a Scream film.. and the reveal was so anticlimactic and stupid, probably the worst in the franchise.. I also have no interest or investment in any of these characters although on a positive note I will say that Sam grew on me, so she's really the only new character I like.. she's also the only new character that I know by name lol.. and it was cool to see Kirby back although making her an FBI agent was a choice.. so I might sound like "old man yelling at clouds" but don't worry I'll be watching Scream 7 for better or for worse lol.. Also.. the ladder scene is 100% a ripoff of Nerve.. there's not a doubt in my mind that the writers were watching Nerve and wrote it into their script, it's even shot similarly and looks identical.. Nerve is awesome by the way and I highly recommend it, it's so fun.. I think that you'd really like it.. it stars Emma Roberts, Dave Franco, and Juliette Lewis..

I knew Quinn was the killer when cute guy was trying to warn her and we didn't see any of the fight and then she gets slammed through the door and is presumed dead, I said to my friends, if you didn't see her die, she isn't dead and I knew her Dad was in on it after he came out of the apartment and didn't blame Sam or Tara for his daughter's death, I was expecting a "this is all your fault & death follows you everywhere speech" when that didn't happen, I knew they was the killers, Ethan was a surprise though.

I say that Stu is dead unless they ever decide they want to bring him back. The decision remains in their hands and until we see him on screen, he will be considered dead. But they have the power to bring him back realistically if they want, but ONLY if THEY want. As much as I would love to see him as a future killer, maybe even a Ghostface hunter type character (he would do it solely for the fun of it and for seeing how Stab devolved into something that tarnished the legend he and Billy created. Like he felt honored by Stab, then Stab 2 was good to him, but the more they kept going and the more people kept going after Sidney, the more tired he grew of it)

The kills was groosome bloody and One point OK you let ghostface expand too much but it was worth it. the motive was stupid Sam was right Amber was the master mind.😎💯

This movie was freaking AWESOME!! I saw Scream 6 in theaters with one of my buddies. Sam and Tara Carpenter are my favorite characters in Scream 5 and 6. They're obviously a dynamic duo. This was such an AWESOME experience. However, I wasn't too disappointed about Neve Campbell not returning for this entry. I was disappointed that the offer presented to her was unacceptable. She was mentioned by the main characters in the movie though. It would be some crap if Sidney was recasted by another actress. No other actress can play the character better than Neve Campbell. I can't wait to add this film to my collection whenever it comes out on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. I'm also waiting for Scream 3 and 4 to be re-released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as well, like they did with the first two films. Wes Craven directed such AWESOME horror movies such as Scream 1-4, "The Hills Have Eyes", "Last House on the Left", "A Nightmare on Elm Street", "Wes Craven's New Nightmare", "Vampire In Brooklyn", "The People Under the Stairs", "Red Eye", "Swamp Thing" and "The Serpent and the Rainbow". But the Scream movies and Nightmare on Elm Street films will always have special places in our hearts.

I personally liked they didn’t make Gale not write the book. How ever it felt wrong she wrote in that manner. But then again Gale was always mean and that’s why she was iconic. The reason we loved the og trio was the contrast. Sidney was the princess. Dewey was the knight. And Gale was the messenger. They each brought something unique to the table. And I would have been bored if they took away what made Gale herself. Although I do think it would be a cool growth if in the 7th movie she learns and writes the book but in a nicer way to still show her dedication to journalism but also that she has grown. This could then make her step into Dewey’s shoes of taking one for the team more. If they’d wanna kill her off she should go with a bang by exposing ghostface maybe through like a live stream, as she is quite popular with her morning show, and then like a book that resembles her side of the story for once.

New sub here and super glad I’ve found your channel. You’re an absolute gem… your knowledge and commentary is second to none. The main issue I have with this movie is the fact that Ghostface is the most brutal of any of the Screams and yet there is very little carnage. These characters are practically cut in pieces (specifically Gale and Chad) and yet they all survive… GTFOH. The stakes were not raised whatsoever. Perhaps Disney can produce Scream 7 to give it the edge it so desperately needs. Fun movie but failed where it counted most.

Great video as always! But sadly I did not like 6 at all. My primary issue with the two new Radio Silence Scream films lies heavily in their severe lack of originality. The first 4 films by Wes Craven were brilliant and truly spoke on what was happening at that time period in cinema. These two new movies are poorly done re-makes of Scream 1 and 2. If you pay attention to the dialogue, it’s clear that the reboot/requel is their primary goal; which is completely lazy and redundant. Boyfriend killer, Stu’s house for the finale, College for the 2nd setting, Parent of the ex-killer seeking revenge, etc, etc. The Character writing is lazy, all three of the killers are incapable of the strength shown throughout the movie, numerous characters survived inexplicably after countless mortal stab wounds and gun shots, weird scenes like when the cop is shooting randomly at mannequins, etc. Not to mention how lazy the fakeout death is. “Oh yeah I swapped the bodies.” Lol. This movie was just trying as hard as possible to shock us while also being blatantly obvious that the killer would follow that of the Scream 2 reveal. Also, the lackluster lines like “Who gives af about the movies” when the motive of the killer is to avenge someone who loved the movies so much. These writers are horrifyingly lazy and their lack of originality is highly concerning. Wes Craven is dearly missed. 1) Scream 2) Scream 4 3) Scream 3 4) Scream 2 5) Scream 2022 6) Scream 6 I honestly would’ve loved to see Jason continue as ghost face throughout the movie with the audience knowing who he is. Maybe even a cult of ghost faces. At least come up with something new.

You hit the nail on the head. The new writers are being so self referential in conception rather than coming up with something original and letting the self referential easter eggs be simply easter eggs and not the structure of the story. Thus Scream no longer is commentary on movie tropes and flaws in mass media with a slasher dressing, it's just a nostalgic retelling of previous events as to not alienate it's fanbase while also pretending to subvert expectations but not really delivering. It's up it's own ass basically

I get the 'its complicated' vibe because I am kinda there with you. This comment will be full of spoilers so please if you haven't seen it, don't read any of my thoughts, haha. I never understood the hate that Melissa Barrera got in Scream 5. I was invested in her and in Tara from the moment they were on screen and I thought they complimented each other well. I was really glad to hear that some people were dialing it back after this film. We have been so incredibly lucky to have the powerhouse that is Neve, and I did miss her this time around, but not to the detriment of the film. I just love the character and if they can bring her back in a way that is real and not simply fan service, I'm all about it. If not, Sydney deserves the happy ending, just like Gale said. I knew when they announced Samara Weaving that she would be the opening. Sadly. I do agree that having her step into the alley was plot pushing. A better kill would've been her opting NOT to and running stepping into the crowd and having her stabbed among people, the crowdedness that is NY. As for Gale, I left a little annoyed too but then I was like...huh. Maybe it DOES make sense. Dewey was ALWAYS her reason to come back to the moral side of things. I feel like she grew because his soul was so pure that she wanted to be a better person. He's gone. Her heart is broken. She went back to what she knew and a place and time where she didn't have the pain. I will say that my heart strings got tugged in her scenes, but Dewey's theme broke me. However, this was the moment we should've lost her. This is the generation who has grown up on The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. We are used to having our hearts broken. RAISE...THE...STAKES. Love the ladder scene and the tension it held. The chase scenes were REALLY good here and the subway scene...if they had followed through with that...MY GOD... it wouldve been one of the best deaths in the franchise. I will say I love that the love interest A. Survived and B. wasn't the killer. That was a new direction and I would like to see him come back in 7 and be a major player. Dermont Mulroney...*SIGH* Even if this hadn't been spoiled for me (yep, spoiled right here on KZbin in a comment section where someone @ me with 2 of the reveals)...I would've known. The moment he opened his mouth, my husband knew. There were too many BIG things that couldn't have possibly been accomplished without him being dirty. Even if he wasn't THE person, he knew who it was. The Shrine...only a cop could've gotten a hold of those things and the fact that he just easily dismissed his kid as a suspect...yeah. I knew then the spoiler wasn't a lie and my husband knew then who it was. The way he moved in the convenient store was very 'trained' the way a cop would be. So yeah. No big surprise. I will say...I was pleasantly surprised at the fact there were three because at least there was a surprise there for me. I didn't know who it was or the why so I still found it enjoyable. I will say that the reveal could've been saved if the ferocity of Ghostface had been continued after the mask came off. Instead he ramped it up to 100 after it came off and took the darkness from it. I could've taken a very angry father and his voice is so deep that he could've been Ghostfacey without the voice changer. I love the idea that this is maybe so meta that its purposely pulling things from its original trilogy to make its own. Part 5 was so close to part 1. Part 6 was super close in idea to part 2. That is the only way I could see them bringing Stu back if he's going to come back. Pt 3 was supposed to be him anyway and we know that. So why not? Full circle and it would be a great way to get Sydney back and have it mean something. Also, I think Mrs. Meeks would be a decent opening kill to draw them all back to Woodsboro. I want there to be a big meta reason. I also really really want this to finish at pt 8 where we have 'A New Scream'. Hear me out. We get through the first trilogy. We have this new trilogy that bites off itself in a meta way. Then we get pt 8 that starts at a horror con and maybe we even get Neve as the opening kill. Someone wants to make their own horror movie and is so obsessed with Scream that they choose to do it at a Scream Cast Panel. ALL of the heavy hitters are there. All are suspects. All are potential victims and you just GO for it. Have fun with it. BIG fan service, a damn good time, and a great tribute to Wes Craven. Okay...thats it. I think. I can't wait to go see it again.

Hi Kylie saw scream 6 at the theaters basically you can tell the main core 4 Sam,Tara Mindy & Chad had solid chemistry, they’ve all elevated from part 5 pushed comes to shove they all wanna try to takedown ghostface. They’re are several flaws when it came down to unrealistic killings, Stabs wounds folks who were evidently killed. But somehow survived were carried out on stretchers. The third act mainly the ending of the film felt very anticlimactic; the foreshadowing of Samantha seeing her father Billy Loomis they alluded to it in part 5 but they highlighted a bit more here. Did like how there’s so much twist and turns on who the ghostface killers was but how it got there could’ve been executed in a better way. which can lead onto part 7 where Sam probably will live in the shadows of her father and unveil her dark path which could see her as the killer. seeing Kirby from part 4 back as an FBI agent put a smile on my face felt like a breath of fresh air. I’ll say 3.5/5 stars better than part 5 and part 3. which isn’t a bad thing at all because all of them have been consistent.

SCREAM 6 SPOILERS - - - - I'm 4 days late but I have one thing they should work on. They need too give the killers more screentime. They usually only focus on giving 1 killer more screentime (not the case for scream 2 and 3). Quinn IMO was a fantastic gf even though she got 1 kill she gave us the subway scene and the gale chase scene. She has like around 15 - 18 minutes of screentime maybe even lower than that I really don't know. Ethan was just there in scenes and really didn't do anything. I feel like people probably would've liked Quinn more if she didn't fake her death so early like I would've rather have them fake Ethan's death then her or have her fake her death later you know. They should really work on giving all the killers screen time, that way we can feel more towards and be more surprised or something like don't make them too obvious like they did with Bailey and Ethan.

My thoughts for Scream 6, Radio Silence was so close with giving me a perfect sequel but alas, Welcome to Act 3 where logic gets thrown out the window. SPOILERS!!!: . . . What was the plan for Quinn after being declared dead by the police? Changed her name and appearance and live under a different name? Gale wrote a book on the events of 5 and she didn’t know or recognized Richie’s family? Kirby who takes an interest in Ghostfaces’ killings didn’t know Bailey is the father of last year’s killer? Mindy who even acknowledged the events of Scream 2 didn’t expect the killer would be the parent of the killer boyfriend? Bailey changing his name and transferring to the NYPD at the same location of the person who murdered his son yet passed a background check. Plot holes aside it’s still a solid 8/10 movie but definitely ranked at the bottom half of the franchise for me. Best way to describe Gale’s character arc is to quote the Great Jennifer Jolie: “After all, Gale Weathers, you're such a complex character.” Would I love for Gale to kept her word to Sam about not writing the book? Yes. Am I surprised that she did though? No, Gale at the end of the day puts her career first.

SCREAM 6 SPOILERS: I definitely agree with them making the killers so obvious- all 5 main reveals (not including Jason and his accomplice lol) from 5 and 6 were just so obvious, it kinda annoyed me... I didn't mind Amber and although I found Richie really annoying, I thought that their joint motive was very well written and timely, so I just let it slide. In this movie, it's just too much though- the list of clues and moments that made Detective Bailey obvious as a killer is endless, Quinn was never shown being attacked (we barely saw the wounds on her stomach at all) and stumbled on people to slow them down, which made it super obvious that she was faking and Ethan was definitely a Billy effect with him being so obvious that it'll make people think he's innocent but that's the trick. I also didn't like how it was included in Mindy's monologue that any survivors could die when the movie proceeds with every single survivor continuing to live, like, huh- I don't mind Chad as a character, but he's so expendable and was stabbed 500 times, why would they bring him back on that stretcher at the end? I would've maybe been okay with Mindy dying instead, but it wouldn't have looked very good if both of the (openly) queer characters of colour had died, especially since Anika's death was just so upsetting and violent. I liked that Danny survived, because I feel like he could be pretty fun in the next movie and it's nice to have a new character not just be there as a red herring or a body count addition. Matt, Chad and Tyler have said in a spoiler interview for this movie that the reason they didn't kill any survivors is because they love those cast members so much, which, with all due respect, is just very childish. Why would you set all those stakes up just to add more flaws to your art? Just make other movies that aren't scream with the cast members whose characters you killed off or something. It reminds me of stranger things, because the creative team of that show have said the same thing a lot (another case of a really great movie/show where a bunch of people would realistically be dying, but only half of them are because the writers/directors just like the cast behind the scenes) This makes it sound like I didn't like the movie but I actually loved it, haha- my second or third fave in the franchise! Really loved it. 44:20- I actually disagree- Liv had been going to that school for quite a few months by that point, and although I really love Mindy in the new movie, her passive-aggressiveness and straight up bullying towards Liv was actually really mean. If the roles were reversed, people would hate Liv more and love Mindy even more. Like, imagine putting up with that bullying for MONTHS, with people barely sticking up for you- all Chad ever did was a small little "come on, Mindy"- also Liv was probably pretty on edge because of the killings and attacks going on, which probably added to her problems- and although I totally agree with Chad's logic of turning her down for going upstairs, I guess some people would interpret that differently, which she did, as her own boyfriend thinking she was a killer. It was suggested in that park bench scene near the start that Chad had been asking and propositioning her for 'taking their relationship to the next level' and whatnot, so she probably felt extremely vulnerable and upset at him asking her for that for so long and then just turning her down when she's actually ready to do it, soley because of the whole 'everyone's a suspect' thing. I do think that the layers and full character of Liv is really only something that people can see by actually searching for it and digging deeper though, as she barely has any screen-time or dialogue so I understand why people think of her as a nothing character. I really wish she was the killer with Amber, instead of Liv. Always have. It would've made her character so much more developed, from her snapping from so many different pressures going on around her- also, it would be a good way of honouring the original but with a twist, in that it's a duo of two girls instead of two guys! Also, I've just always wanted a duo of female killers, haha

@@HauntedHippie there's rumours that they did shoot a third act of Liv and Amber as the killers, (with 2 other endings, one of which is the final product and another with the same killers but different survivors, with each of the three different endings being shown in equal amounts of test screenings to see which did the best) which I would really love to believe, but really struggle to, considering that it would not only cost the studio a lot of money, but also was being shot during the worst height of covid, so they probably wouldn't have, to avoid longer periods of chances of exposure.

Sam dated Richie, gale wrote a boom about him, Kirby is an fbi agent and not one person could figure this out or even ask about it? Representation and Easter eggs aside the writing was eye rolling, and it sounds like most of what was good is bc of the actors themselves. It’s hard to take 6 serious and it feels like they are riding off the success of the nostalgia pre-requel and die hard fans. Also check out la Llorona, kinda surprised this wasn’t mentioned, when talking about a primarily Hispanic/Latino cast. I know it’s not a slasher but definitely horror.

I didn't hate Scream 6, but it's my lowest ranked out of the franchise. The reason being that all six main characters survived, it really would have benefited from higher stakes, they played it a little too safe. There is not a single bad Scream movie.
