3:29 Dave is just doing repeated single stokes on the snare with crashes but it sounds so good. Most drummers, including myself, would sprinkle some groovy fills in there but that section doesn't need it at all. Simplicity is best

I remember reading the story about Nirvana contacting Scream because they wanted to talk to Dave. And the Scream guys were so bummed out because they knew what was going to happen. I wish I could find that story. It's classic.

In Dave's new book the storyteller
@godzillas63012 жыл бұрын
book reads differently trapped on the west coast after skeeter , one of the band members fucks off yet again , dave is then contacted with a chance of joining . Given hes destitute , hungry and without anything to lose he travels and moves into kurts place to then become the drummer of nirvana . The book details how heartbroken he was to have to do this and how he contacted his mother to ask advise .... where she said sometimes in life you have to be selfish ....... even though she had been nothing but selfless in all that she had done . Im only here as i wanted to see and hear what dave felt ..... turns out scream arnt punk but they were very good , im impressed .

Everytime I watch these Scream gigs from the 80s I think how the songs go on too long and don't really do anything. Then Dave picks it up with the drums and it's over. Glad he joined an actual good band 😊 Saying that, Gods Look Down is a good song.

I just heard Dave on Howard Stern talk about his time with this band and how he cant who's the best drummer. To me, the best drummers, guitarists, singers, are those who can get the crowd going. I've heard plenty of super technical musicians who bore the fuck out of the crowd. There is something to be said about the genius of simple riffs of the right power chords, speed, front man, and ensemble like the Ramones, Green Day, Blink, Foo Fighters that can just get a crowd going. Dave proved to me here and many times over that he is one of the BEST Musicians cause he knows how, when, and what to play to get the fans excited. Dave, you Rule! What a great storyteller also.

Nah, just not my style. And I don't know if I'd exactly call me a poser. While I never made it in music, per se, I've still achieved enough to keep me happy. I have a decent variety of recordings (a good handful of which can be heard on my channel) and live shows behind me, and got to play at CBGB a few times, including a night with Wheatus, which isn't exactly my style either, but better than nothing.
