Screen Glazing: Painting with Light in Painter 2019

Glazing brushes offer Merge Modes, which can be a powerful time-saving feature. This video showcases the power of the Screen Merge Mode used in two of the new Glazing brushes included with Painter 2019. Screen is useful in many comic book coloring, illustration and concept art techniques because it allows you to paint very rapidly, starting from a dark base and painting with light.

Isn't this just the same as using either the dodge tool or any brush set to screen in Photoshop?

Hi, I'm doing this method as described. However, when I start painting with the soft screen brush it will automatically create a new layer as soon as I start painting. So I'm unable to do this as you described. I can't figure out why this is happening. I've gone over all of the settings just like your tutorial but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: figured it out. Had to convert shape layer to a normal layer.

with CP2019, when I have Preserve Transparency enabled I cannot draw on that layer, the app keeps adding layer with new brushstroke - help

It's a shame that Painter 2019 has little to no tech support. In my opinion, 2019 is either broken or they just outsourced their customer service. I made the mistake of upgrading and my brush packs no longer work. More than 2 weeks later and no solution. Is anyone else receiving this kind of support?

You could already do this in earlier versions by using: Brush Controls->Stroke Attributes
