+rickdeezy07dj But we can't discredit the actors that actually WERE nominated. There were many stellar performances from actors of color this year, but there are only five slots. I think it's really unfair when people say stuff like, "Will gave an Oscars-worthy performance" without saying who he would replace in the Top 5, or why he was truly the best of the best. There can be ten Best Actor Oscars-worthy performances in a year, but obviously not all ten will be nominated. Basically, my belief is that the point of the Oscars is not to recognize ALL the worthy performances, but just the top five. And this year, they happened to believe no actors of color made the cut for reasons less related to race than people believe.

@andreasuten10129 жыл бұрын
ir10031981 That's what's happening and I'm perfectly fine with it. The problem is that now disagreeing with a PoC/woman gets people to call you racist/misogynist. Everything seems to be racist and sexist these days and disagreeing with that apparently proves that. Oh and reverse racism/sexism doesn't exist, so #KillAllMen and 'whitey' are perfectly fine! When you go look at the facts (for example statistics on the oscars or people getting shot by the cops), you'll often find there actually is no proof of racism (unless ofcourse you use data starting BEFORE Martin Luther King was even born or if you don't take into account that blacks and whites might have different crime rates). All year feminists are screaming "rape culture" and "patriarchy", but when 1000 men rape multiple women in one night, speaking out against that suddenly is not OK. These racism/sexism accusations are a form of censorship.
@Smoke19 жыл бұрын
+Andreas Uten Actually what's happening is two extremist sides fighting each other and dragging the rest of us in it. On side (a) you have crazy feminists and SJW who see sexism and racism in everything - and on side (b) you have racists and people like MGTOWs who see anyone who is not white or male as lazy and wanting special treatment. Both these sides are a minority in their demographic groups but because they are constantly at war, they make the most noise. Both these groups see people who don't agree with them as misguided and stupid and ignore the fact that they are causing a movement that is taking us backwards and driving a wedge between groups. Regardless of race and gender, most of us hate feminists, racists and SJW, but we can't attack one without causing collateral damage. The result is people talking shit about women, white people and minorities when their targets were feminists, racists and SJW. That said, some of the issues tackled by these nutjobs have some truth behind them.
@andreasuten10129 жыл бұрын
SMOҟE It's not just the two extremes against eachothers. The moderate left is a very strong voice against far left (third wave feminism) as well. The problem is that these feminists target people like me, who are on the left and agree that refugees should be helped. Feminists barely even talk about actual rapists or misogynists and especially not when they are not white.

Thurgood is a movie, it’s called ‘’Marshall’ with Chadwick Boseman (RIP) as Thurgood Marshall. On some level I feel like Michael Che’s reaction plays on Chadwick’s expression with Leo DiCaprio

Let's not forget that not that long ago SNL was being criticized for lack of diversity.
@whateveryouwant3119 жыл бұрын
+Cindy TM yea but to be fair to them they also made a joke about their lack of diversity too.

Freddy Silva I didn't say the the joke was funny I was just pointing out that they also made fun of themselves for the same issue.

+Cindy TM They were fully aware, They made jokes about it themselves, not because it was a joke, but because they were frustrated at no one at that time applying to get in so whey they hired they did not have much of a choice.

People dont know that Thurgood Marshall was homeless until Dave took him in and encouraged him to study law. The movie was originally going to be called The Daveside.
@ellicel3 жыл бұрын
AND taught him law (which Thurgood didn’t even know was a thing) by using folksy examples and pithy quotes! Dave rules!

+gutz1981 True, but SNL has poked fun at its own lack of diversity before. The writers don't cast the actors
@gutz19819 жыл бұрын
J Nickroblovin True. But that doesn't necessarily give a show the right to judge others for the same crimes it is committing. Its like an abusive father who laughs about beating his kids. Yet judges of other fathers who don't smile when they beat their own.

When it came to Creed, I think Ryan Coogler should been nominated for best director. Micheal B. Jordan was great, but the directing and cinematography are what really stood out.

Maaz Kalim hmm, let's see. You clearly understand who "they" refers to. This pronoun has been and is used as a gender neutral pronoun to refer to a singular subject; this usage has existed and does exist in the past and present.
