The beauty of this movie is how the narrative was displayed. A room full of people can watch this scene and take away something completely different. Some will get fired up about making money, others will think this is glorifying greedy dirtbags. Then there are people like me, who see that this is showing you how depraved and manipulative this world is under the disguise of appearing glorious, similar to many cults and religious extremist. The thing is, all of these views are technically correct. Scorcese expertly executed this story to let the viewer decide what their takeaway is.

The majority of all sales jobs, especially telemarketing, get employees to memorise a script. Some places even punish you for going off script even if it makes sense. You might dig telemarketing if this appeals to you, some good friends made over 100k a year when including commissions and got offered a lot of opportunities for better paying jobs in the same industry. You just gotta be fairly ruthless and willing to hit people with the upsell and be ok with selling to people who clearly misunderstand what's going on, including old people. Most of the time they were giving people a better deal than they already had though. This was telemarketing phones, prepaid plans and internet packages etc.
