The episode did another great job showing the South Asian American experience. I also thought Zoe naming her Night Light was a nod to how often Asian Americans are forced to view themselves through a white lens and the appropriation of Asian culture. This was further hinted at by Nakia's comment that Western history gets a much greater focus in school curricula than Eastern history.

I would bet that by the end of the show she no longer needs the bangle. Bruno said the power is really coming from within her so we'll probably have a scene where she loses the bangle somehow and discovers she doesn't need it. Scary Grandma at the end probably doesn't need it either or she would have just taken it.

yea like how Thor realised he never needed milnjor for power but for control, n i think Kamala's granma would possibly realise that thr bangles are useless first and try do some mega evil villain plan or some shit, Kamala then feels like she cant control her powers, gets a pep talk, beats the granny (dw this granny still 40 yrs old) and joins Captain Marvel in some space adventure

My thoughts regarding her great-grandmother: She is considered as curse and one who brought 'bad name' to her family because she choosed to be a superhero ( as her daughter said she went to her father by walking on a starry path which i think great grandmother made using her abilities ) to help people and interact with them . And at that time it was not allowed for many women to go outside on their own and interact with man without presence of any other person ( except educated and high class women ) . Maybe she left because she wanted to help others which was nearly impossible for her in that society .

I would like to correct you on 15:34 Ryan. Because Kamala told Bruno "this is the small Eid" when inviting him, before the event. That means this is not the Eid after the fasting month (Eid Al-Fitr). This is the Eid celebrating the day Abraham was given permission by God to slaughter a lamb instead of his son, Ishmael (Eid Al-Adha). Kamala did went to cafe with Kamran before this scene, therefore, it was not the fasting month, as Kamran would definitely be fasting. Only women can have reason to not be fasting.

I doubt the Eid was to celebrate the end of Ramadan as Kamala said it's the smaller Eid. I believe it's Eid-al-adha instead

I noticed during the intro that there was a moment that said “Ms Marvel, read 1:32.” If you then go back to point 1:32 in the episode, it’s right at the moment where Black Panther finishes the marvel intro. It might have just been a coincidence, but it looked like a hidden shout out to Chadwick Boseman.

SRK was a main teasing factor from a couple of my mates given I was only introduced to Bollywood when I was like 13/14 by my bestie. So not Muslim but spent a good 13 years in the community. So this show is definitely a throwback nostalgic vibe for my high school days.

Only 2 episodes in but this seems like this is going to be, above & beyond, the best Marvel show. A lot of good stuff going on here.

So far the show has had parrerels to the pixar movie "Turning Red" -both involve a young girl from a very traditional family -both find out the family has a history with powers -both have an over protective mother -there is a scene where they nearly expose their powers to everyone in the class -they give a presentation on why they want/must go to a pop culture event...which are told no -they eventually do sneak off to event -when mom finds out about her going to event. she tells her "this isnt you" when in reality....its the most her -their ackwardness due to powers to assumed to be her getting a period with friend offering her tampon -(if it was her great grandma) they both see their ancestor

Symmetra and this version of Kamala both use hard-light. I think it would be cute to see Kamala use her powers in a dance like way like Symmetra. She kinda does it when she creates things with her hands.

stupidest thing in the episode when she fall other side of the police car and tried to get up and another car came and she get in and they drove off, AFTER ALL THAT polices looked the other side of the car

Another great review as always! Also, at the Eid while going over the different groups, one of the Mosque Bros is Bilall Fallah, one of the shows producers.

There is train honk sound when she passed out. And in ep1, she goes into some other dimension which looks like a train station and mass exodus during partition

Not riskey business. It was lifted from the opening sequence of adventures in babysitting. Can't believe you missed that. Sheeesh.
