The fact that they believe Mile's and Gwen's familial bonds are ignored or overshadowed during the Spider Society sequence is baffling to me when it's the impetus for the central conflict between Miles and Miguel and ultimately the reason why Gwen decides to help Miles. We know how important Miles' parents are to him, and I think it was a very deliberate choice that the movie made when it didn't physically show or cut back to them during the lead up to, and during the spider chase sequence. Their absence helps to push Miles' isolation and reinforces the emotion of Rio's speech to Miles about looking after the "little boy" for her. It really feels like the criticisms delivered here boil down to the movie not lining up with expectations.

i knew mentally that the movie is long, but it never actually felt like a drag. every scene was amazing and fit the narrative. if they cut anything, a sizeable chunk of the plot gets cut, it's simply a pretty massive story that required a lot of working parts to make just the first half. if you can sit thru 3 hours of titanic or avatar or lord of the rings, i think 2.5h of this is pretty acceptable. if anything, it's just more bang for your cinema ticket buck.

Flash seemed like the norman summertime "blockbuster" that the production companies have to throw out there every year to justify all the money the advertisers spend to get in said movie. But Spiderman: Across the Spider-verse seemed like the movie with more heart and dedication to the source material. It dealt with a lot of heavy subjects as Miles and Gwen both struggle with their parental relationships. Yes, it did throw a lot at you with all the variants of spider people but they did such a good job of keeping the main story focused on how hard it is for Miles to find his place in all this chaos. And while it may not have an ending it definitely got the audience more invested in it's characters than Flash where most people just viewed the movie to see Batman.

I think the image of a dystopia has just changed. When they went under it looked like a cyberpunk under-city slum situation to me, my impression of the world was a shiny outside with a rotten corrupt core. Very tomorrowland. A utopia is just a dystopia in disguise, and I definitely assumed his world was a dystopia. I mean, look how empty it was! Also I adored the pacing, I think it being two parts really gave us the room to take the time and have those scenes that people would be begging to have gotten if they were revealed as deleted scenes. The movie, like spiderman, is itself trying to have its cake and eat it too. Also, I didn't catch which world Miles was from so I missed that he was in the wrong dimension so that build up was a genuine twist for me. I think its a fun and devastating scene. The back and forth of Gwen approaching his window like she's listening but not actually being there was so good.

Everything about Canon events and Spider men losing a "Captain"Stacy aka her Dad affected her.... & her having No Band/Friends... it was a twist/story being told that I Didn't realize was being told until the very End when the Drums hit... and that realization hit hard and Made me Love this movie sooooo much more.... spiderman was the first time i even saw/heard of the concept of dimensional travel and other realities. i saw it in the 90s spiderman cartoon with madam web and the beyonder. so for spiderman to be one of the only superheroes to meet themselves in other realities that actually has deeper impact and meaning to all other superheroes not just his own timeline.

You keep saying that you hate that 2099 isn’t in this dystopian place he is usually from. Isn’t he living in the universe that isn’t his own since the one from that universe died? Isn’t that why he’s injecting himself and also wearing the bracelet? He isn’t from the place he currently is. Additionally, the screen showing earth 42 was a blink and you missed it moment as others have said. For more casual people like myself I didn’t pay attention so the build up was great for the final reveal.

I think it's easier to have a central focus on one character and all versions of that character vs mcu. They're trying to bring everyone together and shoe horn them in. Trying to collaborate everyone and every version of them together is much more difficult to do than centralizing on one character and more or less making their story branch out.

the recognition of a person telling a loved one about who they are (whether they're a spider-person or part of the LGBTQIA2+ community) and fearing their loved ones' reactions to that is so powerful. the two things are similar, but not quite the same still (based on my own experience). (just to note: i've partaken in some 🍃🍃 iykyk) i've also seen guardians 3. i haven't read any of the comics, so i'm sure my comment is deemed invalid in any arguments, but i'm going to say my piece anyway. i would still argue that ATSV is better on so many levels. visually, it's really hard to argue that. on a philosophical level, guardians 3 and ATSV are tied. the depth in rocket's story was a great addition to the storyline and i think he was a great pick to make a main character in THAT movie (if he's considered a main character for that movie). same with gwen stacy's intro and honestly her story throughout (in subtle ways). it's giving more depth to the series, and i'm ABSOLUTELY here for it. soundtrack? hands down daniel pemberton for ATSV. no argument. when i listen to the soundtrack on its own, i visualize the movie in my head. that may not be the case for some people (idk. it might be, though), but it's such a captivating soundtrack--from when Rio has her talk with Miles, to the Nueva York Train Chase. I am constantly playing the artist soundtrack in my car, and I'm especially happy when "Another Dimension" plays in my shuffle. 😍 TL;dr: I'm a bit biased. ATSV is a great movie and you should watch it if you haven't.

Why is Miguel worried about Miles saving his father? In a normal timeline, Miles will be fighting the Spot (which would be a part of the attempt to save his father anyways,) and then fail to save his father. All Miguel would needs to do to enforce the timeline is prevent Miles from receiving outside help. If the concern is that Miles could force the loop hole of his father quitting like Gwen did using outside knowledge, wouldn’t Gewn’s universe disintegrate if this was a dangerous action? (Great movie by the way, I loved it so much!)
@kritichaplot5025 Жыл бұрын
Right, that's what I've been wondering too. I think Miguel's story would be explained more in the next movie to really understand the consequences of breaking/avoiding a canon event. His reasons for accepting canon events are not explained in this movie too well.

the whole purpose of this movie was to NOT be another Spiderman movie with the same tropes. It wants to tell its own story and be unique which is why I find a lot of the takes in this video confusing, I don't feel like they truly get this movie and its central themes and only look at it from face value and judge it based on the other spider man movies. The directors knew that if they made this film about another Peter Parker it would end up being the same thing as the live actions and it would have not even been noteworthy to watch. They want to tell spider man how they want to not based on the tropes of the other superhero movies but make a new and original story that hasn't been told before which is something marvel definitely needs to learn from.

I have a theory. I got a feeling Miles Morales of Earth 42 is the hero and he’s fighting against the sinister six. He was supposed to get bit by the spider, but he never did, so because of his intelligence he relies on tech to fight crime. I think he’s going to ask 1610 Miles to help him with the Sinister Six and then help him get back home and also give him a gadget to stop The Spot In the mean time the spider Gwen horde is going to stop The Spot. (Gotta put some respect on his name). Just a theory

I think since spots powers are basically the multiverse, he'll probably be the one who actually brings back sinister six from alternate universes so we have the cameo and Gwen's team fighting against sinister six and him at the end. Spot seems to be taking his time because I thought he would be already creating havoc since Miles took time to fight all the spider people so he's probably gathering the villain team from alternate universes.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was so good I'm still mentally struggling to process what i saw and heard. Unlike every other Marvel film, I only saw Into The Spider Verse once. I watched it again for an hour and I immediately saw so many parallels (like Miles dad deciding not to jump but to use the stairs like Miles did..) I loved the visual style of SpiderPunk and how he was basically an evolving SEx Pistols logo. well done. So many things to see and listen that I caught and didn't catch, like slipping in the original 70s spiderman I grew up with, the ever lasting meme of ythe multiple sipermen pointing. Genius

feels weird that critics of this movie continue to harp on the fact that it’s a two-parter… it’s become clear to me that not everyone knew beyond the spiderverse was gonna be a thing, but cmon people. once you saw the end credit reference, you should’ve been satisfied. were y’all saying this stuff when the penultimate harry potter movie came out? or hunger games? or infinity war? LOL. it’s an unfinished story but not an incomplete movie. it had EVERYTHING and there’s still more to tell. we all don’t have to agree about it being the “best superhero/multiverse film of all time,” but can we eliminate any discourse about the fact that the story wasn’t resolved yet? IT WILL BE. also want to acknowledge that this movie will inevitably resonate with some people more than others based on personal connections to miles’ identity as opposed to a connection some folks have generally with spiderman. for me, there was an entire level of depth beyond what these SC guys were taking about and that’s OK. it can do more for some than for others. but give me a break with the incomplete story bit

Its interesting how no way home was about accepting the canon with May's death and the great responsibility lesson, whereas this movie is about questioning the canon event while still keeping the lesson. The first canon death event represents the great responsibility lesson (Peter: Uncle Ben, Gwen: Peter the friend, Miles: Uncle Aaron). While the second canon death event of the Captain represents accepting that spiderman can't always save everyone. So No way home was about the first canon death and across the spiderverse is about the second.

I’m tired of hearing “it’s an incomplete movie” Its 100% a complete movie with Gwen’s arc and her learning to trust herself and her friends rather than just what she’s told by the people are supposed to know better than her - this is Gwen’s movie not miles’ Miles may still be the focus but it was Gwen’s arc not his - his is obviously incomplete but that wasn’t the point of this film

I found this movie to have a similar feel to the second Matrix movie. The first Matrix set up the hero and gave us a glimpse of his world. But the second movie showed a deeper world and setting up the true, bigger conflict. They spend a lot of time with character development in the first part of the movie, more action in the back half, and ends in a cliffhanger. it feels a bit long, but not when you look at the second and third movie as a full 5-hour sequel. I think these Spider-Verse sequels will play out the same way and will feel like a full, complete story when it's all said and done. I really enjoyed it (and I like the second and third Matrix movies as well).
