To become Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange has to lose Christine in the process. In the MCU timeline, he pushes her away in his pursuit of fixing his hands. In the 'What If' timeline, he loses her to death. In both scenarios, Strange no longer has Christine in his life as he becomes the Sorcerer Supreme. But in this case, this Doctor Strange couldn't let go while the MCU version accepted his role with his loss of Christine (no longer in a relationship).
@chm17013 жыл бұрын
The loss of her in a relationship, is not the same as losing her to death. In the film, he still had the chance to see her and have comfort in the knowledge that she was alive and well (which is how he could keep going), but losing her altogether in the way that he did; I can see why he’d make the turn to the dark side.

Yeah, that's not actually a new concept, in Loki we've seen a lot of different timelines flowing together forming one single universe in the last episode, which they called "the sacred timeline" what is in fact just a universe that contains many timelines. And what we saw in this episode is a universe that contains only two timelines, the old one contained dozens probably. What makes things confusing sometimes is that we don't know if space is bigger than time or if time is bigger than space in the MCU, because previously in the Loki series we thought that Time contained space, but right know with this episode it seems like Space contains time "two timelines within a single universe" . I hope they explain all of that in the Doctor Strange movie. And sorry for my bad English, I'm not native.

@@williamsn9285 that would be bad choice because they have already screwed character like Taskmaster. Now they have a chance to introduce a big villain. Not really a Groundhog Day type scenario but more like The Time Machine with Guy Pierce. Same deal. His girlfriends death was the catalyst for him creating the time machine. If she doesn't die then he doesn't create the time machine and can't go back in time to save her. Paradox.

I loved the direction this episode was going, but then I was a tiny bit disappointed when we were introduced to the other good Dr Strange that they weren't going to commit to the original direction. I was so happy when Evil Strange won and the episode did go in the direction I was hoping.

I think the Sorcerer's understanding of Absolute Points in time is where the TVA unbeknownst to them have been pruning off every variation where Christine lives (or where Strange loses the functions of his hands).

Question. If the time stone isn’t creating a branch reality or moving Strange back in time, but instead rewinding time while keeping Strange the same, then why is Christine not dying impossible? Strange would still have the knowledge of the sorcerer supreme, wouldn’t he?
@yoyomayne3 жыл бұрын
Well did u watch the actual episode? Although he did still have the knowledge, we were introduced to a concept called absolute points in time. These points occur in various universes where something happens that MUST happen in order to maintain universal stability like Thanos's snap in the MCU. This one's just happened to be that Dr. Strange's lover had to die for him to become sorcerer supreme
@zeedstun8913 жыл бұрын
because everything finds a way to kill her. his power isnt the issue. every way he tries just results in a different death. one even being a sudden heart attack.
@ClonedGamer0013 жыл бұрын
@@zeedstun891 My point is that when he absorbs enough power to break the absolute of her dying, the universe collapses in on itself. But in that moment, Christine is alive _and_ Strange has his powers. What’s stopping him from saving Christine and then continuing to be sorcerer supreme?

@@ClonedGamer001 ok but to reply to the comment you just made I think the thing was that breaking an absolute point in a universes timelime would make everything apart of that universe cease to exist. Maybe strange was still there because he became powerful enough to survive the colapse, but Christine belonged to that universe so when it ended, she had to end

So the way the people were melting into ink was actually an Easter egg theory my brother came up with. They turned into ink because the show is animated and the people in infinity war turned to dusk because it’s live action. In the story of Adam and Eve, Adam makes Eve from the dirt and dust from the ground. And the people in the animated show are made of ink for potentially an Easter egg joke among the crew. Very cool.

This Doctor Strange episode was fantastic. After watching every episode, I think this one may be my favorite. I love the emotional weight this episode had and I can totally picture Doctor Strange eventually going down this dark path if he wasn’t so mentally stable. Even in the films Doctor Strange knows how important it is for him to take the role of the Sorcerer Supreme extremely seriously.
@KingfisherTalkingPictures3 жыл бұрын
This was the first episode I saw that captured the pure all-out gonzo craziness that often took place in Dr. Strange comics. A lot of the movies are kind of watered down versions of the 4-color insanity the best comics capture. This cartoon was the best sheer fuck-it fun I’ve ever seen of the mcu.

Dark Dr Strange has a great origin story for a dimensional cosmic being like Dormamu. Gods of their respective universe with near omnipotent power - consuming other realities or power to be drawn upon.

Man, Cumberbatch really did get the best stuff for this animated series, I really enjoyed it but man it was tragic! But also a really nice set up for the new Dr Strange film and the new Spiderman film! Also really cool they incorporated themes from WandaVision and Loki and echoed that in this episode. Just so sad to see that absolute grief stricken Strange who continued down this path turned into this shattered figure who ruined reality just to save Christine only to still fail.
