Another thing with the TVA, the entire place might be laced with runes, which, as we learned in WandaVision prevents magic from anyone but the caster of the runes from having effect. In the room with the Timekeepers there are runes on the walls and it would explain why Loki's and Sylvie's magic didn't work there. Maybe these runes also prevent the infinity stones from working which would explain this "loophole".

These types of stories will always annoy some, but it’s just making me dislike the TVA power levels and rules even less. I already thought that Kang’s killing by being stabbed, and allowing it to happen, was a bad part of the ending for Loki. Now there will be more confusion with the real heavy hitters of the cosmic Marvel multiverse. Beyonders must not be out there or they’d have ended it? Where’s Eternity, or any of the entities that exist like Molecule Man? Galactus? Maybe Ultron defeated them all off-screen, but this also showed how overpowered Captain Marvel has been made, and how under powered Hulk, Thor and even Strange have been made.

I appreciate this video but I feel like the only answer necessary to all the “plot hole questions” is this… Because this is a show about the infinite possibilities of each timeline. The timeline of this episode didn’t necessarily branch off to create a new one as soon as Ultron got into his Vision body. For all we know, this timeline split before Cap got the serum, or even sooner than that, etc. The whole premise of a What If show, is being immune to any and all possibilities of loopholes… it’s a completely alternate universe, reality, and timeline… Remember the first words to each episode… time, space, reality… where the smallest of decisions can branch out into an infinite amount of possibilities

@finleyhan350
@finleyhan350 2 жыл бұрын
That's just a big excuse for lazy writing, lol. I get that the multiverse is infinite and all that, but what got us interested in the premise of the show in the first place is the idea of how things would turn out if this one specific thing changed. Every single change from the main timeline should be caused or at least correlated to that specific change (Nexus Event) in order to be interesting. Because if we just use your point of view to watch this show, then even something as absurd as seeing Steve Rogers being Iron Man or Peter Parker being Falcon in an episode titled "What if Thanos failed to snap his fingers?" can still be impervious to criticism.
@msquared9605
@msquared9605 2 жыл бұрын
@@finleyhan350 you’re just bitching about the fact that they published the episode about the timeline where ultron won, then beat thanos to get the rest of the infinity stones, instead of the timeline where ultron won but then thanos beat him to get the final infinity stone and still ended up snapping. Tell me what kind of lazy writing would that be?? “Episode 8 What If Ultron Won”… ultron gets his body, destroys mankind but then is immediately beaten by thanos, who then snaps the half of all life away, and ultron, except for humans… My point is there isn’t only 2 timelines, one where ultron wins (what if episode 8) and one where he doesn’t (main mcu timeline) each one of those outcomes splits off into an infinite amount of timelines, just like the show and myself have stated
@finleyhan350
@finleyhan350 2 жыл бұрын
@@msquared9605 Lol, I'm not bitching about anything. I'm just saying that the episodes aren't that well written and the "infinite multiverse" reasoning should never be used because it can also excuse any form of bad writing. I understand that there are more timelines than just the main timeline and the one where Ultron wins in the main timeline, but those timelines aren't what we're interested in when we dive in the show. Your exact reasoning can also be used to excuse my previous example, an episode called "What if Thanos failed to snap?" that has Steve Rogers as Iron Man or Peter Parker as Falcon is as valid and logical as episode 8 because there are "infinite multiverses" where this could happen. And about how Ultron wins, there are non-convoluted ways which can be used to explain how he gathered the stones. One of them that I can think of is for them to just have Ultron discover the other Infinity Stones and collects them by himself, while racing with Thanos to do so. It doesn't need to be done that way of course, but the writing from the episode itself is just not that great.

I remain of the opinion that The Sacred Timeline is merely a branch of time that was protected by the TVA and He Who Remains and that there may be other branches from the before the Multiversal War that were so far off from the 'continuity' that He Who Remains was concerned about that they continued to exist perhaps with their own version of Kang that did likewise. Making sure their Timelines never cross until they eventually do. Chaos wins in the end. Also at some point the MCU have to hint at the Beyonders, entities that exist outside the Multiverse on a higher level than that of the Watchers.

I wholly agree with this statement. that is exactly how I explain it when writing my theories as well. sounds to me like you like quantum physics and are good with character development. But if not then you are onto a logical progression about the nature of quantum mechanics particularly the parts about entanglement and wave function. within probability we must assume that both a negative and positive added to the equation will give us a range in which a photon may end up within. In the MCU conflict presents the collapse of the wave function and the character is then coherent within one branch that split off while his variant who made the opposite decision became coherent in the other. which means that if kang isolated and looped a group of 3 timelines that it is entirely possible there is an infinite number of isolated looped universes before the nexus events happen. but it's clear that it's all cyclical in the MCU and relies on many ideas presented in eastern religions. which is in contrast to Steve who I will maintain went into the past to ensure kangs pre determined timeline because the avengers in Steve's mind must always win against Thanos in endgame which is an infinitely repreated event. part of the reason strange has to look at so many timelines to find one where the avengers win. essentially my assumption is all the timelines where the avengers lose are timelines where Thanos gets the necessary information to defeat the avengers. which means young Thanos at the end of endgame is a variant of old Thanos who completes the snap and knows what it's like to lose. Which leads me to our first clue within the MCU eluding to this. Loki himself. at the end of Thor Loki falls into a wormhole created by the collapse of the Einstein Rosenbridge. sound familiar? in Thor Ragnarock Sakaar is a planet surrounded by wormholes and Theorhetically exists in its own space time where time can be looped back on itself. We as the audience don't know if Loki went to Sakaar and then Thanos or if after the first movie the Loki we meet at Sakaar is actually the one from the first movie. also certain scenes are meant to have double entendre to give us dual meaning when presented with new information/timelines throughout the MCU in its entirety. which means by the time we get to the first avengers movie the Loki we see on screen is both a Loki from an alternate universe as well as the original who fell through the hole. in this scenario the information the audience knows makes the scene coherent. and the mechanics of what I'm saying is there, but certain things have not been revealed. but as the MCU continues we will undoubtedly be given more pieces to complete this puzzle and reveal that Tony Starks vision of the avengers losing is actually from a previous iteration of events. meaning the amount of timelines where the avengers lose have been corrected by Thanos. every time Tony or an avenger comes up with a solution in endgame to defeat young Thanos he is remade in his relative timeline and original reality (hopefully thanks to hela and talking with his older dead self) and starts putting his chess pieces in place to win... reminds me of the queens gambit. meaning the timelines Dr strange sees where the avengers lose are Theorhetically only half the timelines. just reread what I wrote and know it's hard to follow lol. my sentence structure needs work but the Info is there. so hard to cover this subject from a phone. but more to the point We have to deduce that there are also multiverses within multiverses. infinite deterministic timelines. infinite timelines of freewill in which probable futures also affect the past within a multiverse. essentially what modern quantum computers want to accomplish. if I were to guess I'd assume that the MCU is leading to a revelation about the possibility that our universe could potentially be holographic such as Elon musk suggests. we've already been introduced to the concept of boltzman brains via ego. though a more microscopic version of my analogy I also assume that it is more macroscopic as well. which supports scientific and theological concepts that are currently popular.
@enderprodigy3167
@enderprodigy3167 2 жыл бұрын
haven't watched the video yet but assume that if Dr strange can use time in the dark dimension then stones work so long as universe they are from still have the potential to continue. I think the stones in the drawers at the tva are from erased universes which is why they tend not to work. unless you find a linear timeline that they originate from. which is what I think Loki may have done in one of the episodes to stop a building from falling. which means that the singularities depend on the state of their respective universe. The one I haven't figured out is how a tesseract "awakens". this indicates that maybe there is more than one set of stones at play and that some stones may have been swapped until a potential point in time where the probability of another universe is destined to occure. also indicates that there is a strategically planned timeloop. perhaps the mind stone is also indicative of this as it shows Tony a probable future that most likely occured in a parallel reality. which means the Loki we see in the first avengers has already seen that alternate future. at the same time without the events of endgame he doesn't get his moment in the TVA. I speculate that the Loki from the first Avengers is simultaneously the Loki from the TVA as well as from the first Thor movie. Sakaar wormholes and relativistic principles might also come into play considering the end of the first Thor movie but so far that concept has been the least explored. I think captain marvel is introducing relativistic concepts along with Thor while we are nearing the end of quantum concepts at play. It appears the MCU may be attempting to reconcile the missing piece between both by making freewill and determinism simultaneously possible. which is what we should take away from the Loki series concerning the rules of the universe. I don't claim to believe any of it but for the sake of the fictional world of the MCU these theorhetical concepts are the same vs contending arguments. it's very clever. however I think that the breakdown of the wave function doesn't indicate that all probabilities exist when unobserved and still maintain that thing that exist in "phase" are still deterministic. they just move to fast to observe. if an unpredicted result happens I think it's because there is a variable factor not accounted for. one I think pilot wave theory addresses rather well. regardless that doesn't appear to be a concern with the MCU that is just addressing popularized ideas in physics and certain interpretations of that theory. fun ride either way.

The avengers used the infinity stones from their own universe, just a different point in time. Removing the stones would create a parallel universe, had they not been returned. But since they were returned, it was as if they never left. Think like Back to the Future, when Marty comes back and sees himself leave... for a brief overlap, there are two infinity copies of each. Now when the tesseract goes where it isn't supposed to, and doesn't return... that creates a parallel universe out of a branch timeline... which the TVA erased when it captured Loki. The Dark Dimension and Mirror Dimension are Pocket Dimensions within this universe... not separate from... which is why the stones work there.

Why could Ultron use the Stones well looking at Doctor Strange he was able to because Dormammu had opened a rift between Earth and the Dark dimension (also dimension actually implies still part of a single reality but never mind that) we also see in Loki the Tesseract lose it's glow but only after the gate Hunter B-15 and Loki entered the TVA though closes, this show that the Stones can work in other universes as long as their connected by an opening. Ultron didn't travel to another universe in the conventional sense instead he managed to shatter the barrier to Uatu's realm (Lets call it the Space Between Spaces) Note Ultron literally shattered this barrier leaving a permanent hole as well as his new found connection to The Space Between Spaces allows him to travel anywhere within the Multiverse and still retain the power of his Infinity Stones. if he had traveled to a different universe like He Who Remains and the other Kang's he would be shocked to learn his Stones don't work unless he is tied to his universe and well that wouldn't pose too much of a multiversal threat now would it. To be fair the MCU has never out right explained if the Infinity Stones work in other universes by with these little details it seem likely they don't.

Excellent points all four of you. The stones from the MCU don't line up with the 616 stones in their colour and placement on the gauntlet. The rules for stones in comics were more established, especially with the Council of Reed Richards. Three of them show up with a gauntlet each. They say that the gauntlets don't work outside their universes but that doesn't mean they're paperweights. It probably just means they aren't the most powerful weapons in the other universes. Reed 98740 was seen using his gauntlet in Universe 45. They could still have some power, just not an infinite amount. They would be Finity Gauntlets.

At the end of episode 1 was hinted that the time stone (tesseract) may have not only space but time travel properties (because of Cap Carter appearing in a different year in her timeline). So, if we assume that premise as valid, that would give Ultron the ability to time and space travel through different multiverses. Hence, time jump plotholes could be explained.

What no one has realized is that the whole episode is a reference to the comic saga of "age of ultron" (2013) in which ultron reaches its final form and exterminates the universe, becoming so powerful that lives beyond it, same thing it does here with the infinity gems. In addition, the controversity of Vision killing the avengers and thanos with the infinity gauntlet is given by the fact that now, ultron has evolved into vision becoming simply perfect: as there are millions of ultrons, he cannot be killed, he has the full understanding of the powers of vision (unlike jarvis) and thinks objectively, thanos, for example, didn't send the black order against him in order to take the gem himself, so he let his guard down, he didn't used the power of the gems and overestimated himself, while Ultron launched his maximum power right away.

I think it’s also simply these are different Stones than the ones in the comics. The comic Stones don’t hurt those that use them, but only work in their home universe. That’s their limitation. On the other hand, the MCU stones can be used across any universe or timeline, but even the most powerful beings would be seriously injured if they use too much power. Yeah. What OP said is really going to be the final answer. In a universe of made up stuff, who's to say that they can't just make new rules when it helps the story? There have been many instances in the last decade plus of the MCU and even in the TV shows where Lore didn't completely transfer from the Comics. While they do use the comics as a defining guideline, the MCU is still free to do pretty much wherever it wants. Us Marvel super-geeks ultimately have to accept that it's not going to be a perfect 1:1 comparison. To be fair, they already did thematically establish that the Time Stone worked in other dimensions. And no one batted an eye. Besides that wrenching of continuity from the comics, this really is a kick-ass episode.

Infinity stones while powerful do not hold control over everything as shown in loki where it is found they dont work in the TVA. Small correction. The Dark Dimension isn't another universe. Its a dimension inside an existing universe. Each universe has its own Dormamu with it's own Dark dimension because he is not a multiversal being. The stones working in other universes does seem to be broken continuity until they retcon it. We know the MCU is not infallible. I know it's not going to happen cause they are setting up the multiversal avengers to take Ultron down, but this really seems like the point where the Living Tribunal would step in and flip the off switch on the stones since it threatens the multiverse
@acedragon543

@Hash Frowns No they just never explained why the stones didnt work in the TVA so the most logical choice was that they were following the rules established in the comics. They were also animating this before the script for Loki was finished even though this takes place after. Making the safest assumption, it being a continuity error. At least that's what im sticking with until it's properly explained or retconned. Personally im not a stickler for stuff like this as long as it's entertaining lol
@acedragon543
@acedragon543 2 жыл бұрын
@Hash Frowns They explained endgame in endgame. The stones virtually never left their timeline or universe. With Cap returning them to the moment they were taken. It was an event that was meant to happen in that timeline essentially sliding their existence forward in time momentarily without changing anything. The stones would have still worked because they were in their home universe the entire time
@acedragon543
@acedragon543 2 жыл бұрын
@Hash Frowns Yes they were. They were returned to the moment they were taken in the main timeline. Thanos would create a different timeline but anything with the stones wouldnt. Returning the power stone to the moment it was taken would not disrupt the timeline. Starlord wakes up and the stone is still there. Nebula doesnt get capture. Everything progresses as normal. Thanos following them makes an alternate timeline where he doesnt exist past 2014 and puts him on a different branch of the timeline relative to the stone. From the stones reference point everything plays out like it would up until it's destroyed after Infinity War. Thanos's newly created timeline continues forward without him and a power stone or gets pruned. The stones were gone and back in a blink on the main timeline keeping them inside their own universe the whole time.
@acedragon543
@acedragon543 2 жыл бұрын
@Hash Frowns It's ok. Time travel is confusing. And nobody rewrote any timelines. I'm not sure where you got that. The stone was returned to the main timeline and that Thanos diverged into a new one. Theres nothing that says starlord wasnt knocked unconscious to begin with in the main timeline and we just didnt see it. That applies to all of the stones. Anything we saw happen in endgame could have happened in the background. What happened to get the result of endgame was meant to happen, and will always happen

I have a theory on why the stones work in other universes. I think the MCU is a single universe split into many different smaller universes. Like how the Ancient One allowed multiple timelines to exist in one universe. So the stones still work because the MCU takes place in one giant universe split into many. It would explain why the Infinity Stones are pretty nerfed compared to the comics. Each universe's stones are an infinitely small chunk of what they should be. It also explains how the multiverse has existed in comics for decades but apparently the TVA has been preventing the existence of a multiverse. TL;DR, the MCU is a multiverse contained in a single universe.
@inteallsviktigt

hard disagree. the TVA have never prevented a multiuniverse from existing. they only care about branching timelines affecting the existence of TVA. they would care if Ultron destroyed 99% of universes as long as it's not a danger to their mission

Counter theory as to why the Watcher was so surprised by the Ultron invasion: The Ultron invasion was already something that was happening and existed, but the Watcher was confused since he hadn’t witnessed Vistron’s (yes, I’m calling him that) rise yet. So, after witnessing the invasion, he went to the Vistron timeline to try and understand what happened and why Vistron is traveling the Multiverse. Doing so indirectly leads to Vistron’s awareness, and the multiversal shenanigans ensue. So long story short, that’s a Vistron who has already encountered Uatu and begun his multiversal conquest, but Uatu hadn’t witnessed his reality yet and is the inciting incident for Vistron’s awareness. So basically, timeloop shenanigans

Point by point. “Let’s assume this is the same universe.” Let’s not. There are tens of thousands of universes that Marvel has explored, potentially millions and beyond. “After all, we see that Steve is resistant to government control” […] “if he’s so convinced he knows more than the authority figures” I don’t know what you didn’t get about Steve Rogers, but it appears to be “anything.” Steve Rogers doesn’t trust institutions with agendas, he doesn’t believe the government can own its citizens, and he believes that his life is his life, he will risk it if he has to, if it will do some good. And he’s right, each time. You think he’s gonna turn around and overthrow the government? If you’re basing that off the MCU Steve, I don’t know what narcotics are passed around at Screen Crush, but you’ve had too much. TVA, why didn’t they step in? This video ignores the simple and correct answer that is also the question - Loki’s show not only created a multiverse, but it created it retroactively. With no Immortus to preserve the Holy Timeline, thousands of timelines came into existence, including throughout the history of all of those universes. Once that happened, it allowed this show to exist in all instants of history. As for the enormous, “sail a ship as large as infinity” plot hole, your explanation for the TVA being in the Quantum Realm may be accurate though nothing we see suggests it. But the rest of your explanation is a giant pile of wrong and for the simplest reason - you don’t understand the real implications of the multiverse. The MCU is one universe. But so are the comic books. If it holds true that the comic books basically say “if you have the stones from universe A and go to universe B, they don’t work,” that’s a multiversal rule. One we have seen be completely true over and over and over and over and over and over. Either Marvel made a massive mistake or they’re deciding to break their own rules. Based on everything we have seen for FORTY YEARS this episode was written be an ignorant person. Thanos from Universe 251 can snap Universe 251 out of existence. But if he goes to Universe 252, where Deadpool snapped and made all farts silent but deadly, and Thanos snaps, nothing happens. The infinity stones are part of the fabric of the universe they were made in, it is what gives them such potent power. Different stones were used as that fabric in other universes, so these ones from another universe are essentially inert. That is not an opinion. That is how they have been written. It is objective reality. So Marvel has either decided that the reality that spawned EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE CHARACTERS is wrong, or someone doesn’t have reading comprehension. I’ve read these stories since I was a kid, and this episode that seems to be so lauded is the first episode that I think is downright trash.

Let's break it down. This definitely takes place after Ultron, which according to the MCU timeline was in May 2015. If Guardians was in Aug 2014, then Guardians 2 would be in February 2015, well before Ultron was born. Even if GOTG was concurrent with CA:TWS, it's still well before Sokovia, so the Guardians being there could well have been just a second visit after the one in Guardians 2. This also puts over a year between the Battle of Xandar and this new timeline where Thanos started collecting early for whatever reason. He sacrifices A daughter for the soul stone (Nebula, probably), gets the power stone from a freshly rebuilt Xandar, finds the reality stone in the collector's shop, picks up the time and space stones, then gets sliced by Ultron.
