LOKI: KANG is a Descendant of TONY STARK | Marvel Theory BREAKDOWN | MCU Revealed

Loki is done and we're still--like the Time Keepers--untangling the epilogue. In the comics, Kang is actually a descendant of Reed Richards, of the Fantastic Four. But what if the Marvel Cinematic Universe gave us a different take? What if Kang is actually the great(x33) grandson of Tony Stark? It would tie in thematically with Iron Man, and help set up Iron Lad in the Young Avengers movie. It would also fit in with the themes of Captain America, Ant-Man, and Thor.

either he is related to Stark or he more than likely has an admiration of him, Stark is the reason Kang can travel through time. He could just have researched the origins of time travel and it lead all the way back to Stark, thats why he lets the Avengers get away with messing with the timeline, if not the technology might have not existed for Kang to use in the 31st century

except Stark used navigation through the quantum realm as the basis for his time travel and that required Pym Particles because you have to shrink to enter and exit the quantum realm. The TVA does not utilize shrinking of any kind so it likely achieves time travel through different means. The Time Doors used in Loki bear much more resemblance to Dr.Doom's Time Platform (merely vertical instead of horizontal) and considering Kang is a descendant of Reed and Sue, that connection makes more sense.

While they could "explain away" differences in methodology as he was inspired by Iron Man's work; they could also have something else in store for fans. I so very much hope it is Dr. Doom but we'll have to wait & see!

One other thing that supports this theory is Ravonna's line about the Avengers being supposed to time travel during Endgame; Tony stated that he didn't want those 5 years gone, because of Morgan. So, in a way, the time heist is a part of the Sacred Timeline because it allows Kang to exist, and he wants to preserve his own existence.

If Kang is from the 31st Century, he's probably related to most of the 21st century's population. That's 1000 years, if you assume that is 33 generations 2^33 = 8,589,934,592. Yeh sure there will be plenty of crossovers where people are related +5 generations back but over that kind of time period 'related' is a nonsensical statement.

This has been my theory for a while...they assigned a lot of Reed Richards' genius attributes to Stark in the MCU because they didn't have access to the character when the universe was conceived; given that reality, and the fact that Tony basically solved the riddle of reliable time travel, a Stark-based Kang would make more sense than anything related to RR.

True, but I still hope the MCU will retain aspects of Reed Richard's character that haven't already been taken up by Tony, as Reed is a really complex character in his own right, as he feels never-ending internal guilt over what happened to his team that turned them into the Fantastic Four (especially Ben), chose to make his family beloved to the public in hopes of finding forgiveness from them, yet they forgave him long ago and love him for helping them find purpose, questions his purpose in the universe and knows that he can solve every problem in the universe, but chooses to not leave his family behind and attempts to fix those problems one step at a time not to mention being the smartest man in the Universe.

I collected FFs from the early 70s through the mid 1990s, and frankly I'm still a little ticked at how they've been cinematically hacked to pieces over the years. They will always be the first family of Marvel, and need to be done right once and for all...but I still think making Kang a Starkson makes more sense with the way this MCU is built. ;)

If they had the rights to the FF from the outset, they probably would have leaned much more into Stark's troubled playboy billionaire arc than his guy-who-figures-everything-out arc. Richards was the consensus big brain of the Marvel comics universe from the 60s well into the 80s (along with Doom).

If Morgan Stark has kids and her kids have kids and her grandkids have kids, etc... then there's a pretty solid chance that Tony Stark is blood-related to literally EVERY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH in Kang's time. That's not comic book coincidence, that's just math. I mean, it's estimated that there are 16 million direct descendants of Genghis Khan alive today and he died a mere 8 centuries ago. Every century that goes by that number increases exponentially. Ten centuries separate Tony and Kang. So... it would be kinda weird if he was not Tony's direct descendant, or at the very least a cousin many times removed. Unless the line of Stark dies out with Morgan or somewhere shortly after that.

Uh true but it's not unreasonable. If you did a little study into DNA instead of going off the normal idea that "Hey for plot reasons they'd do that" If we go back 1000 years me and you will have common ancestors and I don't even know you. The reason that is simply because every person backwards has 2 grand parents and then after next person it doubles to the point that it expresses everyone is related in some way shape or form. If I'm related to 1 million people and you are also 600 years ago and Earths population was even smaller back then, it increases the chances. The father you go back in time, the higher amount of ancestors and smaller the population. Many Presidents or political people are cousins, even Bush Jr and Obama are for example and that happens simply because someone in their family has a common ancestor to them. All it takes is 1 person. On top of this you must understand travel was limited the further you go back into the past so people were closer together in proximity to build families back then as well as cheating goes on, adopting and things such as slavery or migration to a different country and mixing with those people there. Kang is from the 31st Centaury, Tony Stark is from the 21st, that's nearly a 1000 years between them, they will have millions of common ancestors between them. If you did a DNA test right now, you'll have ancestors from across the planet in places you wouldn't even imagine. There ain't no pure race person in existence. We have this illusion based on looks and country of residence that this is the case but it's not true at all. Think I'm lying? Go do a DNA test or better yet speak to a geneticist, they see this stuff everyday. Kang could be closely related to Tony stark or further away like a distant cousin IF they wanted to do that.

I thought the way the camera angle showed Kang’s wrist based“Timex” after he took it off, placed it on the table, appeared eerily familiar. That angle was absolutely purposeful. It was a overly long shot. Silent too long as well. Implying the importance of King’s Timex being over the top of his hand.

Why do heroes have to be related to one another? Why do future heroes have to be descendents of the present heroes? I think Kang would be much more interesting as a regular scientist who cracked the code and connected with all these versions of himself, good and evil. I think it would be nice to find that Stark isn't the only genius bloodline in the MCU. I hope the next generation of heroes are the most worthy people and not the most-related-to-the-present-heroes people.

Another tiny little detail towards the end there that we could be overlooking is when Kang says “this is the only way” now at first we thought this was just a clever line to tie in Doctor Strange’s dialog to Tony, but it could also be another tie in to Kang being a descendant of Tony Stark

He Who Remains said "this is the only way" hearkens back to when Strange said there was only one way....Kang probably meddled in every scenario to get the one outcome that needed to happen for his ends. I happen to believe the actual Kang will be Kang Prime, who will be played by Robert Downey Jr., not the Kang variant that might even appear in quantumania.

Kang is from 1000 years later. Assuming a generation is 30 years, that's 33 generations-ish later. That's 1/8589934592 of Stark's DNA (it's not that simple but you know what I mean).

If you watched Loki, and I assume you have. Kang does say or imply he's existed or exists in every timeline. Thus, he probably 'let' the Avengers screw around with time because that was always meant to happen. A version of Kang could hv always been hiding openly in our timeline and/or quantum realm waiting for Tony to trigger the Deutche Proposition and create time travel.

I like how this idea makes a connection between Iron Lad and Iron Man. Why would a descendant of Reed Richards try to be like Iron Man? With Tony being dead, a time-traveling descendant deciding to be the new Iron Man makes total sense. I hadn't thought of it that way, but now I wouldn't even be surprised to see Iron Lad appear in the Armor Wars series.

I must say Ryan, you really know how to catch things! When you synced up what Pietro described about what he remembers about his parents death in Ultron with Wanda's childhood seq in WandaVision, it actually matches exactly as described. Which is UNCANNY and how the showrunners were so attentive to detail. Also fantastic catch that Stark's character arc is basically him being a responsible Dad. Which I never realized until you brought it up! Also the idea of Original Sin that mankind will always have to deal with the previous generation's sin, which I never realized is also the case in the Marvel films. And your theory that Kang could be a descendant of Stark is probably quite true and thatHe Who Remains already shares similar traits and qualities and similar tech parallels to Tony. And that if the Stark legacy continues, it does make sense ala Star Wars style like the Skywalkers, that the legendary bloodline will continue in good and bad ways.
