IIRC in the first film, Inspector Lestrade plays along with Holmes with that punch to help him gather more info about the bad guys. People have noted that Lestrade in this film was praised for nothing being able to help Holmes and be more intelligent than what his character is usually depicted in media.
@iout7 ай бұрын
Not only does Lestrade play along with Holmes, he's the one who gives him the key to escape the handcuffs later in Coward's office. Neither Lestrade nor that one mustachioed officer are actually corrupt in the movies. The latter tells Sherlock that his arrest has been ordered and then proceeds to help him escape capture. They're forced to arrest Holmes because Coward is a government official, but clearly are trying to undermine him in the process.
