King Richard isn't the life story of Richard Williams, it's about a very specific time frame in which he and Oracene gave Venus and Serena the foundation to become who they are. That's why it starts and ends where it does. People that gripe that the movie is about him and not about them, but it really isn't. There's a lot of stuff that was left out but that's true of any biopic and especially true of any biopic that's about a specific event or time. I don't think anyone comes away from that movie thinking that he's a saint but it tells the story it's trying to tell really well and the acting is great in it -- which is what is being judged by the awards shows.

I think I've seen more Best Picture nominees this year than in any other year and I've only seen four (West Side Story, King Richard, CODA, and Don't Look Up), which really says something. I think I've seen more movies in the past year than any other year and I only saw one of the ones listed and hated it. The original West Side Story was just hands down superior. The rest either didn't look good or I never heard of them... Except Dune. I just never got around to it. Still.... Spider-Man was better.
