@@nhannguyen2190 The scene with the parents not being understanding of their sons' mutant abilities was clearly meant to resemble parents having trouble accepting their child's homosexuality. Thus the mutants' trouble with fitting in in society is clearly used as a metaphor for the problems of gay people (the X-Men franchise has always been a metaphor for outsider groups, but exactly which group has varied). Producer guy in the sketch thinks the metaphor is very obvious, or "thinly veiled", as it's also called when something's not well hidden. A bride in some cultures and time periods wears a veil, i.e. a face cover, during part of the wedding. You could imagine that if the wedding is cheap, they could only afford a thin veil. Ergo, the bride would be thinly veiled - just like the metaphor

"But the SR71 was so fast, it could literally outrun missiles " ........ "You forgot about the thing the SR71 was famous for?" "I forgot about the thing the SR71 was famous for."
@justforever96Ай бұрын
It could fly so fast and high that a missile launched from the ground couldn't climb to 80,000ft and intercept it before it was out of the envelope of the missile. It was also so fast that it was almost impossible to get a fighter in a location where it was able to fire a missile in an envelope where it could successfully overtake it, since it was usually much higher than the fighter and the speed made it take longer for the missile to catch it, so the envelope where a successful shot could be fired was extremely small. But there were plenty of missiles faster than the SR-71, most of them are. They need to catch it, not just match it. The MiG-25 was a serious threat, which is why they stopped using them. In any case that isn't an SR-71, it's a fantasy jet that they styled to look similar to the SR-71. That doesn't automatically mean it has identical capabilities. Since we don't know exactly what its top speed is and the movie shows F-16s easily keeping up with it, we have to assume that its top speed is Mach 1.8 or less, like the F-16. You're going to say the movie is wrong because it looks kind of like an SR-71 and so it must be a Mach 3 aircraft, because? An A-7 looks similar to an F-8 but one is subsonic, one is Mach 1.8. That and the SR-71 can only do Mach 3 at very high altitude where the air is thin. It's obviously at quite low level here, it's below the damn clouds. I doubt an SR-71 can do much more than Mach 1 at lower levels, it's designed to work in a very narrow envelope, and the heat and turbulence would destroy it if they even tried to use full power before reaching cruise altitude. Even assuming that jet has the same capabilities as an AR-71, it can't use them while it's where F-16s can reach it. An F-16 fires missiles that can reach Mach 4 and track a target a hundred miles out, they can definitely shoot this guy down.
