Hello Kenny. Love the demo and tutorial on how to build this project. Like you said the methods lend themselves to all sorts of ideas down the road. My scroll saw for the most part spends a lot of time attracting dust but perhaps this will change now and I will get more use out of it Harleymike/chicago
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 4 жыл бұрын
Scrolling is the most relaxing form of woodworking as far as I am concerned Mike. If you are allowing your saw to just sit and collect dust, you are denying yourself a heck of a lot of fun and relaxation. LOL. I hope you dust off the saw and try this project. Thanks for tuning in and taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it.

Great work. What blade did you use to cut walnut?
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings Жыл бұрын
Walnut is not a difficult wood to cut. Using a #3 blade should do you just fine for this thickness. A #7 will also work but it is a little aggressive. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Kenny, you bench clamp your using looks like an Older Veritas Clamp, but I've never seen one quite like it. The newer Veritas clamps don't seem as versatile. Is this a brand made by Veritas? Thanks

I know it’s been a couple years since you posted the video. I know the initial MDF templates were 3 1/2 X 5. Do you remember what was the final measurements on the pick box? Thanks.

Kenny, clever idea once again. My daughter’s fiancé makes and plays guitars so I may just be making a couple of these. Making projects using templates is great when it comes to making things like this. Not knowing anything about guitar picks, are all picks the same or would I be better off ordering some prior to making this project? Okay, you got your chuckle for the day but it was a serious question. Again, great project.
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 4 жыл бұрын
Guitar picks vary in size and shape Paul but for the most part, you can trace a generic pick and it would fit about 90% of the picks that guitar players use. Bass picks can be a little beefier but that would be something that you would compensate for when making the case. For me, if I'm making one for a gift, I stock the case with a variety of picks so I know they will fit. Thanks for the kind words on the show and taking the time to ask your question. I truly appreciate it sir.

Hi Kenny! Always amazed at your scroll work. I am curious, how much do you speed up your scrolling in the video? Love the little box. Didn't see the final shape coming until the very end. You are somewhat of an artist as well as a scroller. Bill
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 4 жыл бұрын
There is no set formula for me to speed up the cutting Bill. It is dependant on the length of the clip that I wish to place in the show. Normally, the cuttings are sped up anywhere from 2 to 4 times their original speed. For really long cutting clips, I may go as high as 20X but that doesn't happen too often. I hope that helps. Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words on the show and the project.

So do you stand or sit as you scrollsaw? What is the height of your table from the floor? Thanks for your cool vids
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 4 жыл бұрын
I always sit at the saw Mike. I'm not sure what the height is, but when sitting at the saw, you forearms should be pretty much level with the table. I hope this helps. Thanks for the kind words and for tuning in to the show.

If I don’t have a scroll saw what , is it possible to make this using other tools?
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 4 жыл бұрын
You could always use a fret saw to cut the design and then sand it to get the final shape that you want. A band saw is also able to be used but only for the outside cuts. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.
