I've had this problem for probably a bit over a year by now. My mouse is an LG G602. I remember buying this thing for about a hundred bucks a few years ago. My scroll wheel clicker stopped working and a new one cost over 200 bucks now... Wd-40 did not solve my issue but watching your video made me take mine apart and realize it was a loose connection in the solder for the click wheel button. (September 26th 2020) Followed your instructions and it worked perfectly, first time. I had tried quite a number of things that other videos suggested - smashing it as hard as I could on the wheel, using a screwdriver to push the button down harder, etc. None worked. The only downside to this fix (or any fix) is that you have to remove the rubber feet and double sided tape. It never goes back to how it was before in my opinion, but it's at least working and I'm sure I'll get another 1-2 years out of it. Thank you FirstL00k.

You're welcome! It was either that or throw the mouse away, so there was nothing to lose. By the way, if it gets stuck again (depends on the environment and the particles I think - dust, humidity, etc.) you can always repeat this method, but don't overdo the WD-40. Too much and the clickiness goes away and you lose the tactile function.

@@FirstL00k My Razer Deathadder scroll-clicks, but scroll stopped working yesterday & I guess it is a hardware issue. Hoping this lube-fix might work, but I'll go buy a (hopefully) more reliable mouse. I've had two or three Deathadders fail on me rather too quickly - starting to suspect they are designed to fail. The mouse seems a good candidate for a modular design that is robust & easy to maintain & allow for easy replacement of cheap parts. Searching for such a product, I stumbled upon the EpicGear Morpha X modular gaming mouse, but it seems another bejazzled effort to coax a hundred bucks out of your pocket, rather than the durable, hackable, maintainable "Model T"-style workhorse we need. Dude you are awesome, thank you! It worked for me. At first it did not, even stopped clicking, there were not even a click sound. I realized maybe I dropped a bit more wd40. I let it dry, the next day it was working like a charm. Now I have a backup mouse thanks to you! I have stopped buying razer products, they have a very short life spin and are overpriced. My room looks like a razer garbage store. I have a ouroboros, mamba, DeathAdder chroma, DeathAdder elite, DeathAdder essentials. All have double-clicking or wheel issues. At first I used to order micro switches from aliexpress and fix them. But it ain't worth it.

Wow, you DO have a lot of Razer stuff! I agree, they make stuff that don't last very long. Even if you know how to fix it, you shouldn't have to do that for the money you're paying. Thanks for the good feedback, great to know that your mouse works again!

Works. Even if the middle mouse button clicks perfectly, and it appears as if the click wound not register; it still requires some greasing. This is the fix.
@1SaG2 жыл бұрын
Not sure I'd want to use WD40 for this. It's a mineral oil based product that might start to gunk up over time. If it's plastic on plastic lubrication that's needed here, I'd probably try some sort of silicone grease rather than WD40. If I ever try this fix, I'll probably put some of the silicone/Teflon paste on there I use to grease other plastic devices. It's safe for both plastic on plastic and plastic on metal lubrication.
@jimmythepowerful Жыл бұрын
You need to solder a new omron tactile switch… the old one will only work halfway good until the WD will evaporate…

Same thing happened to me too. I did mine twice before the switch worked at every click. But once it works, don't do it until you have more symptoms - I used WD40 a third time to make the video, and the click became too smooth (it clicked too easily) - but went back to normal after a while.

My lancehead has problems lately, buttons travels full length, i hear the clicking sound but no action. First right button, i hold it down, it acts if I were holding and releasing. Mid button didn't work at all until I opened up this video, now it started to work again... but it actually does the same thing as the right button. Should I blast it with w40 too?
@FirstL00k2 жыл бұрын
That could be an issue with the switch. The theory behind this video is that greasy gunk has built up over time (especially if you live in humid area) and the idea is to loosen it up enough so the clicks work again. It's like using wd40 to remove labeling glue off of glass bottles, for which it works really well. But I wouldn't know what's causing your double clicking switches. Maybe the switch is still getting stuck and you can try using a little more of the liquid? (But only a little! Don't use too much)

@FirstL00k3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I appreciate it! On clicks with micro switches like in Chroma, I think you're stuck with what you have unless you can replace the micro switches (requires re-soldering in new ones.) If there's an electronics shop near you like Best Buy, I can recommend trying out all the buttons on every mouse until you find the ones you like the feel of. I do it sometimes and am surprised at the variety.

Still works as of 10/14/20 ! My recommendation is when you peel off the mouse feet stickers, use a small flat head like how he is using. I kinda destroyed mine so now when I move my mouse around on my mousepad, it is not as smooth and is a little bumpy so im gonna go buy some replacements from Amazon for about 8 to 10 bucks. Still worth paying 50 to 70 for another one

Always get new ones before you take a mouse apart. In the past the quality was a little sketchy with thin teflon over plastic but recently there seem to be better quality ones around than stock.

If you have a soldering iron, you can replace it with a better switch. Its very easy to do with enough practice and will make your device last longer.
@kristinar35702 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think that's what I need to do... how would you go about finding one for this though?
@maxthreshold2 жыл бұрын
@@kristinar3570 The switches for the mouse are standardized, so you can look up the part 'D2FC-F-7N'. As for which brand to choose, do not get Omron switches (used by razer) as they don't last long. The Huano and Kailh brands are the better ones.

mine started doing this a couple weeks back. the little pads over the screws already wore off a while back, and I had to make my own out of some stickers that I cut into pieces to cover those areas. it really sucked because it doesn't slide as easily as it used to. I am afraid to pull up the bottom sticker to release the final screw. I might just cut a hole over top of it. I really hate taking apart small electronics, just because Ill probably not be able to put it back together right! either way, im gonna have to try it. I really need mouse3 for the game I play.
@FirstL00k5 жыл бұрын
It sucks when you have no choice and are forced to do stuff like this. For the bottom plastic bits, you could use plastic lids (like Pringles or Chinese food soup lids cut to size), but you need to sand the edges round so it doesn't catch on the mousepad. Good luck man!
