The transformations don't mean an automatic win and they do use strategy especially in the tournament of power. Ssj3 couldn't beat Buu, Super Saiyan God couldn't beat Beerus, Super Saiyan Blue only really dealt with Frieza and Goku didn't even beat Jiren using Ultra Instinct

I agree on the power level boost. I think it mattered more before the SSJ transformation. After that transformations became the thing that granted the characters more power. Personally, I think the SSJ transformations were at their best in the android and cell saga. I hated that kid trunks and Goten could just automatically go SSJ especially after the hell Goku and Vegeta went though.

I Fore one don't think the reason for frieza's gold form is bad writing. Because look you got to think about like this; The basically hopped out womb like a op protagonist of an esaki, so bro was chilln tell Goku and then trunks showed him he really ain't like that. And since all sayians for some reason like to preach how hard they've trained to get to where they are for some reason. After getting his as wiped twice he had to take a step back and think 🤔 why am I trash and what can I do to get stronger, and you got to remember he's never had to think about this beside being a son of King Cold(who I like to think of as a sorry anime version of Zargon from Voltron) the man had literal planets that he had rule of out the womb. He was basically just a strong ass spoiled rich kid who's dad just happened to be a galactic war lord. So yes the man indeed never really had to train to get as strong as he was. When it comes to zenkai boost your not wrong or right zenkai boosy doesnt boost your strength just a certain amount everytime no matter your power level your still gonna get a massive increase in power thats the plot of dbz goku and vageta gets beat up most the fight chill for a second say a dialog charge up boom now they stronger for some reason?
