I think Broly transformation was just right in this movie. the reason is because everyone knew why he had to be kicked off of the planet when he was just a baby due to his power level being higher than anybody’s on the planet at just the infant stage. So due to knowing that right from the beginning. He needed stronger opponents in order to unlock what has been dormant since birth.

Also most of the times that goku has surpassed vegeta is due to him being the better fighter with martial arts knowledge thanks to all his masters and privileges like training in the afterlife where the concept of time doesn't exist which is why he easily unlocks Super Saiyan 3.

How Saiyans measure their talent is power level at Birth and how fast it grows, at birth Goku had a power level of 2, Vegeta had one way higher. When Goku finally reached the power level of 20, Vegeta had a power level of 10,000. Goku mainly got this far because of his advantage of Masters over Vegeta, learning various techniques and skills while Vegeta was mainly a space pirate that focused on making them moves he already had stronger. Goku would have lost their first encounter if it wasn't for Gohan going ape and doing some extra damage to Vegeta, even with Kaioken times 4 which boosted Goku to 24,000 pwr lvl, Vegeta still came back ready to kill Goku. It's actually canon that the main thing that was keeping Vegeta from going ss way earlier than Goku was very basically a mental block.

All Saiyans get rage boosts, even if they don't transform. Broly just has a lot more potential and is hyper-adaptive so his rage boost hits wayyyy harder. Like it's not just rage, it's like a primal wrath. I think they described it as SSJ combined with that primal Great Ape power inside of him. Also, the whole Super Saiyan becoming basic thing didn't start with Super. Kid Trunks and Goten did that shit almost by accident lol

Think about it how would Broly who had never really trained and if he did was trained by someone weaker than pretty much everyone in the series at that point, Paragus, beat 4 super sayians and piccolo to the point where they had to mix all their powers together. Honestly when you really think about it the super movie was the same as the z movie they just wanted to introduce Gogeta and make him canon and also use the new god form they were given.

I think that yellowed eye form was explained to be basically tapping into the Ozaru power, but without any loss in speed and agility. Ig since Broly is a bit more "primal" in his mindset, he's able to tap into it with his Legendary Super Saiyan DNA.

I think Broly is just about the only villain that can get away with going from nobody to being SSGSS. Not just because of the "he gets stronger with anger thing", but because he is the legendary super saiyan. They never outright state it, but that’sthe implication with his power level being so astronomical even as a baby. If anybody is going to be rivaling the gods with his raw power, it's Broly. There's something kind of lost in the original broly movie's concept of the legendary super saiyan. He's strong af, but that’s also against a much weaker Goku and Vegeta. Both would surpass him in their later SSJ forms. Here it feels justified for him to have that title as his raw potential is literally Godlike and he's just getting started.

This is what I got. Broly is the legendary Super Saiyan (sleeper). From baby to adult only knowing his father and the planets strength that he was on. Years of his father ranting how he was supposed to be the one to redeem themselves. He has no experience or ethos besides I have to be “him”. So mindset he’s dead certain because he’s conditioned.So fighting Vegeta is the first wake up call. Vegeta base is the hardest fight he has ever experienced he’s shocked. So as legendary he’s never been tested. Base form Vegeta was a surprise and so on. He took the hits and realized he was to overcome. Every time he matched up he was out classed. With experience but in raw power he was just understanding. Resulting in him delving deeper into the Legendary Super Saiyan(LSS). Had he not seen his father (the only other being he had interacted with over years) die maybe would never reach this type of desperation that is the berserker LSS. He’s never had a thought of his own realistically because he was always directed. He always had the strength just never had the reason to unleash it. Makes the LSS more elite knowing it’s after SSB too. Movies definitely makes things rushed but the idea is there. Anyways it’s more understandable than the original. Broly was never weaker per se just taken back into oh this is what I could do.

Okay. I just wanna take a stab at trying to better explain Z Broly's obsessive hatred for Goku and his crying. Because the movie did a terrible job at explaining it. Z Broly wasn't angry at Goku directly for crying. It was everything else that happened afterward (Getting stabbed and thrown in the trash only for the planet to get blown up) that pissed him off to the extreme. However being a newborn baby, Broly's mind could not separate and only conflated these events together. Kinda like someone sending you out for groceries, and you get in a car accident because of it. That's the reason Z Broly hated Goku's crying. Psychological problems and infantile thinking.

Super Saiyan 2 was seen by Goku during his time with Gohan, they trained for it. Both Goku and Gotenks trained for Super Saiyan 3, Ssjg was earned through a ritual was completely different than training or "getting mad", they also trained for super saiyan blue. Ultra Instinct was also gained through other means aswell. And DBS Broly is what the legendary super saiyan is supposed to be, a powerhouse. The only saiyan you should be mad at is Caulifla, she just looks at super saiyan 1 and 2 then masters it immediately

People are really too tied to the idea that Super Saiyan can/should only be achieved by the emotional weight behind it. The way I see it, Saiyan's that achieve Super Saiyans are able to do it, not because of the emotional snap, but because they had that latent potential within them, and were able to raise their power to do it. I know people have their issue with the U6 Saiyans, but it's outright told to us that they're powerful Saiyans and prodigies. They just never had the need, anger, or knowledge to reach that level, but they were probably always strong enough to. Broly was a mutant Saiyan, first off. So he was always strong enough to go into Super Saiyan. He just didn't have anything to push him over to bring out that extra strength, nor did anyone teach him about it. He and his father didn't even know that was a thing. But here comes Vegeta, an absurdly strong opponent that's able to outdo Broly everystep of the way, forcing him to fight harder and harder, forcing Broly to bring out more of that latent power that everyone feared. They way I see it, a baseline level of power was the more important prerequisite to accessing Super Saiyan.

know this vid been up for a minute but been catching up on them, through all of super I think the writers kinda forgot how Zenkai boosts work(very on brand for Toryama) and the Saiyans started getting them mid battle, and as they keep fighting stronger opponents there power raises through the battle to catch up, Brolly was already stronger than most Saiyan babies, went Oozaru while still young, and existed on a planet with a permanent full moon, so even without a tail he kept absorbing that energy, fought practically everyday against giant bugs, and is shown to have a battle iq similar to Goku learning as he fights, but his rage was uncontrollable leading him to become more of a sloppy fighter in the end and mostly just brute force, its been shown he's learning to control both his Ikari and super saiyan forms

Has everyone forgotten that krillins death on namek which basically triggered gokus first sayajin transformation was actually his second death (first death was caused by tambourine in the tournament/demon king piccolo arc) and at that point i think it was only known that the the earth dragonballs could only bring a person back to life once. Comparing that with all the other transformations (as cool as some of them are ) make them all feel kinda lackluster in terms of why the transformations happend just my opinion though

DBZ Broly had achieved regular Super Sayian at first and then later Legendary Super Sayian as we saw when he was a teenager he was in regular super sayian If DBS Broly had already had Super Sayian like DBZ Broly it wouldn't have been so bad. Also Broly didn't just hate Goku he hated Vegeta as well. Edit: Goku crying, King Vegeta stabbing him , and having to save himself and his father from being actually killed by Frezia supernova. That's a recipe for anyone to experience PTSD episodes .

Honestly the power ups with Gohan and Broly make sense when you think about it. For Gohan its because he's a half blooded Saiyan. Its been said numerous times that a half blooded Saiyan has more potential than a full blooded Saiyan. Which would explain why Gohan can gain massive boosts in power with little to no training. He's supposed to be better. Why do you think Goku sent Gohan to fight Cell? Its because Goku knew that gohan would be the one to break through that super Saiyan wall and reach Super Saiyan 2 For Broly his power increase is tied to his adaptability. Heck Goku and Vegeta said in this movie that Broly learns as he fights. Every second of the fight Broly is getting stronger and faster with his attacks. However this power increase is not infinite, once Gogeta went Blue broly didn't labd a single hit So it does make sense for Gohan and Broly to be this strong

You notice how Vegeta and Goku get stronger and more skilled as they fight, well Broly has this combined with Gohan's growth potential. His growth is so fast, that he's basically everything Gohan should have been. 2. The reason why he could keep up with them without going Super Saiyan, is because he's growing, learning and adapting as the fight goes. 3. Now, do you remember when Vegeta turned into that giant ape when he first fought Goku in Z? As the legendary Saiyan, Broly can access that power boost without turning into the actual ape form. That's what that green primal aura was. 4. SS is a several times multiplier for whatever your power level was when you transformed, so the fact that just the rage boost had him even with SSB, when he finally went SS, he was way stronger than both Goku and Vegeta.

I love the character development Scru has from the video. From disliking to actually understanding what they were trying to sell. And yes, yes the power levels never mattered. I think the one reason it's more reasonable is because it's Broly and was have history with his first incarnation, but we all agree his Super version is better.

If anyone had been paying attention to the ToP. You have to be Red before you go Blue. And since he was blue, you can assume he always knew how to go red. Vegeta is a better tactician than Goku, he doesn't waste time trying to train people. Vegeta always knew how to go red, he just never wanted to train nor be in it.
