I went to see this movie when it first came out, and that was 3 hours of sitting. Towards the end of the movie, me, my grandpa, and my dad got up cause the credits were rolling, and the dude that sat 3 rows ahead of us with a big bucket of popcorn got up, and there was popcorn all over the floor. Batman in most interpretations (not all) is so great partially because he's a superhero who is written and often shot/drawn like a villain. I remember when someone broke it down for me that in the I Am Gotham comic, if you did not know who Batman was and the panels had no words on them, you would 100% assume he's the villain of the comic 9 times out of 10. The actual villain is drawn to seem much more heroic, his coloring and posing and tactics much more clean, yet he's highly ineffective when he tried being a hero and absolutely psychotic when he was pushed just a little bit. Even in the movies, the way people talk about him in fear like in Batman Begins, like he's the boogeyman, the way he dips in and out the shadows at will or makes a super theatrical entrance like in The Batman. This movie was a little different in that they were going with the idea _this_ Batman was going too hard in the paint with the villain persona, but he's still shot like he's the Predator on a hunt. Now sometimes we actually go too far and get garbage like All-Star Batman but we don't talk about that.
