Imagine you’re at the pearly gates. St Peter walked towards you sheepishly as you scowl, with your arms folded, tapping your smouldering flipper impatiently. “My Child! Welcome to Hea-“ “WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT”

Oh absolutely. If there’s an afterlife and you die in a way like that you’d have every right to just scream and rant about it. It’s like trying to catch a falling kitten and it scratches your jugular on the way down causing you to bleed out. Just the dumbest possible way to go, completely out of your hands. It’s like a sinkhole popping up under your house or a meteor falling on you from space. Nothing you could have possibly done to avoid it.

@@malikoniousjoeIt feels like the setup for a Beetlejuice-esque comedy skit. Like you get stuck on a bench between Aeschylus (the Greek playwright who supposedly died from an eagle dropping a tortoise on his bald head) and Hans Steininger (the Austrian who held the record for longest beard until he tripped over his beard and broke his neck).

I prefer his older stuff, like this classic show (Morgan!!). Now it's too fast paced and hysterical. Yeah, I'm getting old...

I’m convinced the only reason Randy uploaded this years later is because he only just came up with this title and really wanted to use it

One nitpick other than it being an urban legend. The tank a scuba diver uses is not flammable gas tank, its just highly pressured air and while it can rupture quite violently from the pressures its not in fact flammable. A very common misconception is that the tank holds pure oxygen, and if it did it would be flammable and volatile. But if you went scuba diving with pure oxygen in your tank you would DIE real fast from oxygen poisoning.

also the planes don't just grab water like that.

@@dtylerb eeeeh this is actually a bit of linguistic conundrum. Oxigen can't be flammable because flammable means prone to burning and burning is a process of stuff combining with oxygen but oxygen is very much volatile and can't really be seen as a catalyst since it's a catalyst increases the rate of a chemical reaction but remains unchanged while oxygen is an essential part of the reaction

It's an urban legend... which broke my heart when I found out. I really wanted it to be true!

Even still. Like randy said later on in the special "why do we get so deflated when we find out something we thought was true wasn't" isnt it best to just live in the moment of believing it was

More than that, this urban legend dates back at least as far as 1987, as was used in the opening sequence of Magnolia (1999).

It's actually an urban legend though. Various firefighting aircraft collect water through openings ranging from several inches to at most a foot in diameter. None of which could even remotely fit a person, let alone one in scuba gear.

Well technically it's not a lie, a lie is something told with the knowledge that it is false. Randy/puppeteer likely genuinely believes this story to be true, or at least has not looked it up to confirm its falsehood. This is an urban legend rather than a lie.
