I love this watch movement. I have a few of them because I was disecting them and destroying a few of them. I destroyed 2 or 3 of them before I finally got one taken apart, lubricated and put back together. I even bought an ETA 6497 and played with that for awhile. Then I started casing them up and actually wearing them. That's where I got bored with them. They are too big to be used as a wrist watch movement for me. They really are pocket watch movements. Big enough for a klutz like me to take apart and put back together. I highly recommend the ST36 to start out with. Great movements.

They fit to 42mm case, I am thinking building a watch for myself with this movement but it's borderline too big. Do you know any thin and cheap movements?

I use 47mm diameter Invicta watch.

I'll buy your destroyed movements.

Great to learn on but it’s annoying there’s no parts. I lost the canon pinion and a casing clamp so can’t case it now . Plus I forgot the ratchet wheel screw is reverse and snapped the screw. But mistakes are lessons 😊.

Became interested in Chinese watch movement back in 2001 when my son bought a number of watches in Afghanistan as a gift for me. Still have them with a few Rolex rip-offs and all working as good as new . The Chinese just worked harder to get it right back then . A bunch of old Russian stuff that was half junk and half working pocket watches . I was impressed. The going price was 3 to 15 dollars American . My son was a combat photographer and had a lot of civilian cross business activities. I have noticed the different positions of balance wheel to placement of winding stim in relationships to watch brands and China rip-offs.

As a movement to start learning watchmaking it is great. Big, simple and beautiful (as opposed to other cheap movements). Also mine came lubricated

I read that Seagull used to have some issues with winding mechanism becoming excessively loose. At first it was to be caused by the loose tolerances regarding crown wheel, secured by 2 screws back then (this has been fixed and now there's 1 big screw). Then I heard that other parts get loose within the winding mechanism. Have they fixed it all? I'm thinking about buying ST3600 watch in a few months and I don't want to get negatively surprised after 2-3 years of use.

56 hours of power reserve, most of them go as high as 57-58 hours, NOT 36 as stated in the video. 46 for Unitas 649x, 50-51 for ETA 649x-1 and 54-57 for chinese clones.

I'm amused that one little bottle of moebius costs more than a spare movement. Looking forward to playing with one! Nice review.

Is there a way to get in touch with you about my ST36? I am learning how to disassemble it, and on mine there is an extra part that appears to be above the balance wheel. I don't know whether to remove it first. I'd like to send a photo. Thanks.

I've ordered this movement to do my first watch build. How can I tell if it's been lubricated or not?

Was the one you bought here oiled?

How to take crown out ? No button to pin
@benoitcerrina7 ай бұрын
You have to unscrew the setting lever screw from the other side by about two turns. Do half turn by half turns till the crown comes out

Are you pronouncing Unitas correctly? There was a famous American quarterback and it was pronounced differently
