That's a good question actually. Where is the line between old and new? Because Princess Charm School in 2011 was the end of the last good Barbie movie to me. the "reason" why technology is so blatantly in our faces in the new movies is because all the old movies were just a 2000's era barbie telling stories to her friends, sisters, etc. but now they've moved into the "real world" in the barbie universe, I believe the new movies started when they stopped being stories in stories, and more just the adventures of barbie and her sisters

Yes, he was being VERY picky. Also: 1. The prince's song being about "colonisation" was a huge reach; at no point does he sing about taking over the island. 2. Also, Queen Ariana doesn't use "magic" to poison everyone; they literally call it "sunset herb" - it's a plant powder 3. Doesn't a bird tell Ro about the sunset herb? So her talking to animals DOES save everyone! 4. I don't understand how Ro leaving the island somehow affects the quality/relevance of "Here on my island" 5. Ro and her mother singing the full version of "Right Here In My Arms" was not anti-climactic at all in my opinion. It was great and them just talking would've been more awkward. 6. He also got Ro's name wrong; it's "Rosella", not "Roselina". His only good complaints in my opinion were the animation quality (bearing in mind these movies were low-budget direct-to-dvd releases), Ro wearing makeup and Ariana's plan being weird.

You should do Barbie princess charm school next. It’s kind of in the middle between the old movies and the new ones. The animation isn’t as good as the new ones but not as bad as the old ones, it has a few lessons it try’s to teach, and it has a fun mystery as well.

If you want a more interesting Barbie character as the main focus of the movie I highly recommend Christmas Carol! It's the only movie where Barbie is the "villain" and its one of my favorite Barbie movies. Diamond Castle has some pretty cool characters too.

I think the answer to why when the “new” barbie movies started is so ambiguous is because it’s literally just whatever age you got too old for them. So it’s probably different depending on the person. After having gonna back and rewatched some of them, there are definitely some ones that I didn’t think were that good when they came out because I was at that age of “kids movies aren’t cool anymore” that I enjoy now. On the flip side there are some I remembered liking that I don’t like at all now. ...I’m not gonna say which ones here tho, I’m not looking for a fight.

Barbie Life in the dreamhouse serie is some thing special 😂. I find it the best animation style more "realistic" to the dolls style. The way of the reality style show. There's three and I think they have some pretty interesting lore and I remember really liking the Mariposa spin off movie (kind of a spin of since the Fairytopia characters do appear in the beginning) though I can't remember much about the Mariposa Sequel.

Okay, so, the 2005 Barbie and the Magic of Peagus is one of my favorites. They tried to flesh out the characters a bit better than other older movies, you got some sarcasm from Aidan(the love interest who actually wasn't born a prince) and Annika(the part Barbie played). Plus the cloud kingdom is just beautiful
