@113960732709005836723 Agreed. I might actually say that he DOES overshadow Aragorn in the first movie. A shame he was taken so soon! Imagine how much they could've used him later on 🙌 But the scenes with him in the directors cut of Return of the King were excellent 🙏

I disliked Boromir until I've seen the extended version (I haven't read the books yet). Now Boromir is my favorite character ever (I think he's the most human of them all) and every time I watch LotR, I like him a bit more and I like Aragorn a bit less (because he's the real reason why Boromir had to die)

But I think I might finally convince myself to read them once I get the next "I must watch LotR" mood, because I've seen it so many times that I quote completely unremarkable parts like "Young master Gandalf, it's mmmm-wonderful to see you"

***** Did I read the books? Yes, first in 1979, then at about 7 year intervals ever since. But in what way do you think he is treated "better" in the films? It's true, in the extended edition, he's given a greater back story, but that doesn't change his character. Why do you think he's treated better in the films?

The mind-games he'd play, and Mikkelson's Hannibal is an extremely proficient fighter (somewhat ironically Hannibal is now-known for his skill in Judo which is what Bond was known for in the books but not known for until Daniel Craigs Bond did we see such martial ability (which did more of a Keysi/Krav Maga/Silat type of MA like what I do) and to a smaller degree Sean Connery', which was actually Aikido (Learned from a young Steven Seagal that broke his wrist under mysterious circumstances, but considering Seagal's skill, and known-ego (and Connery's), chances are it was an attempted brawl, lol. Interesting you say that. I know know so many people from the English speaking countries and there is a difference among the United Kingdom regarding speech patterns In England alone, there is a difference in Southern England and Northern England. Sean is from the North of England and his accent is similar to Scotland, which makes sense not to mention Northern England has more Irish and that has to influence the speaking patterns. Every time I hear some one speaking English with an accent, I am usually correct about what part they are from. OK, now that is a bit of useless information, but I am such a geek and I find it interesting.

+dibaterman thats the reason already. most actors arent good enough to play a good death, simple as that. just look at the majority of onscreen-deaths. most of times, directors use tricks to distract the viewer from the bad performances.

Sean Bean must be the most bad-ass man who ever lived. They keep killing him, and he keeps coming back. The guy's indestructible...
@broadstreet21
@broadstreet21 9 ай бұрын
You know, that's why he's frequently killed in movies. He just looks undefeatable and indestructible, until he does meet his demise - something you quickly forget when you see his next movie, thinking his death last time was just an aberration. Normally the tough guy doesn't die. Until it hits you he's had over 30 "aberrations," then you go from expecting him to live to expecting him to die. Bean caught on to that change in expectations, which is why he doesn't take roles where he gets killed anymore.

I like Sean Bean a lot. Besides dying well on screen, he is very good at subtleties. By that, I mean conversations, walking, and, thinking things over. He is excellent in the calm scenes with his speaking, glances, hand movement, etc.

Watch the tv show wasted, Sean Bean plays Sean Bean, a fictionalised version of himself who is a spirit guide and is crossed between Boromir and Ned Stark. If you're not British, the humour may not be for you but his scenes are great.
