I recently rewatched the 1968 film and I think it's much better than you give it credit. Sure, some FX are dated, but the way it pulls from so many genres into a well-paced and emotional film is still impressive. Out of the most recent reboot, I think I am the only one who liked Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes the most. While it didn't have a monkey holding ak-47s while riding a horse (which was awesome, won't disagree with that) it had the best character development. Ceasar going from a naive immature kid to a broken ape and finishing as an independent leader was great to see. However what helped the most was the people. The thing that has been hurting the other films in this franchise is the blandness of the people. While dawn is amazing, not a single person leaves the theater saying wow that human was my favourite part. In rise, Will and Charles's story is fantastic, plausible, and the conclusion is gut wrenching. Truly a masterpiece
@carterslade87718 ай бұрын
I think the Cesar trilogy did something incredibly rare, where every film is better than the last. They're each incredible. The only problem is, War is so emotionally haunting, I can't watch it very often. That said, with what that film was going for, that's a compliment. No film in the series asks the question as to whether humanity is worth saving better than this one, and it's a question that's been there from the start.

It’s just dated in certain aspects and the first 30 minutes take a bit to get going 3: kingdom- planet of the apes is back and just as good as ever, the only real issues I had with the film was how long it took to meet proximus ceaser and how little screen time we got. And Raka should not have died but I know why he had too in the story 2- war pretty flawless film that mixes so many different elements that most of the time don’t work together but finds a way to put it all together. Ceaser’s send off ended his trilogy perfectly 1-dawn- perfect planet of the apes film, Koba is such a compelling villian where the audience can hate him for what he does but can see where he’s coming from. And ceaser and his dynamic with the humans works so well in this movie so definitely my number 1

Conquest and Battle seemed like Fox was trying to gauge whether to keep putting these movies out theatrically or just go ahead and shift it over to TV, which they eventually did. The budget for Battle was only a third of the first movie, and Battle and Conquest were both handed over to J. Lee Thompson, who while he did make the original Cape Fear, was more or less a director for hire by the 70s who primarily made Charles Bronson movies. For Battle, Fox didn’t want an auteur, they just wanted someone who could shoot a movie in 6 weeks so they could keep selling Dr. Zaius action figures.

Not only is DAWN the best, but it also has one of the most badass teaser trailers of all time (I still go back and watch it here n there)

I think we can all agree DAWN is the best apes movie and one of the most special movies I’ve ever seen. I’ll never forget seeing it for the first time in theaters
