As annoying as the love triangle stuff is, and as unlikable as Korra is during the first half of S2, i actually really appreciate them depicting a relationship that doesn't work in a kids show. Like i'm glad they chose to have them break up instead of forcing together 2 people that are entirely incompatible and toxic for each other just because they're the lead m/f characters and the obvious hetero pairing

The relationship stuff gets better by book 3, like there is when they start to grow in that regard imo. The issues between Mako and Korra, as far as I’m concerned, came down to their immaturity and their compatibility. To me they’re the couple who proves “liking each other ain’t enough”. Well if you think about it all known Avatars have to contend with how each nation/culture/element established operations and the importance of understanding various viewpoints. Which is central to why Avatars where told to journey out and learn from each master within their culture; as seen through Rokus backstory.

The Avatar must uphold the balance between and within four nations. Nothern pole were enforcign their sovereignity over Southern, citing "they are one nation". But back in the Aang days, Fire nation wiped out Southern tribe almost entirely, and Nothern tribe didn't bother to help or care about it. They were not yet attacked - so they did have capabilities to at least try to protect people of their own nation. And now, when the Southern pole gained some resources and importance again, and everyone is enjoying peace overall - then Nothern pole so suddenly appears, and blatantly enforces their governing, using military blockade and occupation. So Nothern pole is clearly not in the right here. And Avatar's duty would be to stop such things. No "cultural style of operations", no "viewpoint" can can justify military occupation and unfair courts made under governance, that was forcefully imposed by occupational forces.

While I do not approve of Korra airbend kicking the desk, I do appreciate how angry she is. Mako really really betrayed her. It doesn't really matter that she was in the right or not, as an argument can be made for both, it only matters that he took something that was clearly supposed to be confidential and screwed her over. Now she may not be going about everything the right way, but she is right for trying to get troops for the South because I don't care what you say, when you bring a bunch of ships in and block off a Harbor and start pushing martial law and fake trials, it's a fucking occupation and it's wrong.

Mako and Korra's relationship is so chaotic, they just don't work, Korra is stubborn and impatient and Mako is kinda dumb and detached, I'm surprised they lasted 6 months together at this point. As individuals their characters are cool for me Korra is my fave and Mako is third after Asami

@@anthonydean1743 Spoilers maybe not dumb but at least naive I mean, we know what comes next and last season him not telling Korra that he is with Asami and just playing along with it, at least last season he broke with her before the finale but this time he SHOULD have told Korra the broke up and in this season finale he disappointed me, like his job was keeping Unalaq at bay while Korra dealt with Vaatu and he should've electrocute Unalaq or something, Korra was so close to victory and since he and Bolin couldn't do the job he attacked her from the back and she was already tired of battling. At least he redeems himself in book 3 and 4. And as an big brother I relate to him in many aspects and respect his achievements but he's a terrible boyfriend.

Yeah your point of view is very 2021 and that is cool I think both Asami and Korra perspective is understandable, Asami want her biznes to not go down, and change of company profile isn't something you do within day or two. Korra is waterbender and as Iroh taught us all in ATLA those people are tied to their families much more than other nations, so that why she prioritizes her tribe and family over world peace. And her journey is much different than Aang or Roku who traveled world and had respective masters, Korra was whole time on South Pole and her only close master is Tenzin. That is why she acts very diffrent from Roku or Aang. That said it is perfectly cool to critised both of them, especially Korra - she is blunt and short temepered, she geniually exprect Raiko to send troops and start a was after half minute Avatar speech. Honestly she is not that likeable at this time of series IMO. Honestly i like about LOK is not as simple as ATLA with "Good guys vs Bad guys". Zhao or Ozai was just evil to the core, while in LOK is bit nuanced. Amon was overall bad guy but had understandable motives.

@@Prince_the_One Aang got up all in Katara's face during the desert episode, flew off and created a massive dust cloud that likely killed animals in the vicinity and went into the avatar state against the sandbenders (and around his friends), destroying their property even though only a small minority was involved. And that's just one episode. Again, no one is excusing behaviours. But if Zuko (or Aang) gets to have context for his behaviours, then so does Korra.

I never hated Meelo but I was definitely never fond of him. He got better for me in season 3 and I like him in 4, though I guess there is some set up for it in 2 I think a firbender might be a better firefighter. Waterbender does seem like the logical choice, they could send it exactly where they want it to. Though (never thought about this) what if something salvaged had water damage? A firebender could just reduce the fire until it’s too weak to keep from staying lit. i don’t recall a firebender actually extinguishing a fire, but I would think they could Azula’s story is continued in comics. Haven’t really kept up but I know she does escape and work with an Ozai loyalist group trying to overthrow zuko

Mako did the right thing. Kora was going to drag Republic city into a war that had nothing to do with them and get troops to kill each other without the permission of either the proper authorities or even the people. Just wielding her friendship with General Iroh to get what she wants without really thinking about the consequences, especially since he was going to get court martialed for that.

No, abuse is REPEATED behaviour, enough to constitute a pattern. Korra breaking a table (a single occurrence) because she is angry that her family might be killed is not abusive. We have to be more sensitive with the use of language instead of slapping labels on every behaviour.

@Vintersaga it’s not really though, Korra gets mad sure but she has never once come close to actually hurting someone she cares about and considering that she’s dealing with her home being under military occupation and her family being in danger with seemingly no one else caring it’s understandable that she’d be extremely frustrated That’s not to say she’s right or that Mako was wrong to break up with her, because they’re clearly incompatible, but it it’s a bit far to say that it’s indicative of her being abusive

Everyone hates on Mako for ratting out the conspiracy... but I'm kinda with him because, just like you guys said, it's kind of a military coup. The military being subject to elected civilian officials is a principle important enough that Mako definitely did the right thing. Even though really is a good side that's in the right in the civil war, you still have to do things the right way. So, yeah, Mako did the right thing, and Mako haters can just deal with it.

He should have given her the opportunity to correct her course of action. He didn’t know how the president would respond and the consequences could have been much worse.
