You're a beautiful foodie with a generous heart. You always help local vendor by buying whatever stuff they're selling you and even give extra amount to help support their family. I'm hungry and craving watching your Greek food adventures together with your boyfriend Chris. Hopefully to hear wedding bells from both of you soon. You're both my favorite gorgeous couple bloggers.

Well, as a Greek, I have to disappoint you by informing you that apple bougatsa is an invention of this cafe and not a traditional thing at all 🤣However, I am sure it was delicious! The traditional one is with cream, found all over Greece (mostly the northern) and with soft white cheese, in Crete. Love your energy and I'm so happy you had a good time!

@@sergios1989 Oh I agree. I did watch Rick Stein cooking show when he travelled to Thessaloniki and he did make mention the bugatsa came from the ottomans and the Greeks made some changes.

@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 There is no such thing as the 'Ottomans'. The Ottoman empire had 100 different ethnicites. Turks, Greeks, Sephardi Jews, Armenians, Bulgarians, Laz, Circassians, Kurds, Arabs, Serbians etc. Bougatsa was a dish of the Greek communities in the Ottoman empire. No one in Turkey eats bougatsa and its name ultimately comes from the Byzantine empire and its a mix of Greek and Latin. As for the most famous ''Turkish'' food, like Baklava, Lokum etc. they ultimately come from Mediterranean cuisine. The Turkic people did not have pistachios, almonds, olive oil, phyllo pie, bread and many other things. Their cuisine consisted mostly of meat, milk products (yogurt mainly, not cheese) and rice. What we know as ''Turkish'' cuisine is a mix of mainly Arabic, Iranian and Greek along with Turkic cuisine.

To anyone who intends on visiting Greece. Land in Athens, and spend 3 or 4 days there, that is more than enough. Head back to the airport and get the next plane to Crete. Whilst the people of Crete want your money, with out a doubt, but they are far more interested in serving you first and making sure you are happy and come back. The money to them is the bonus. We will be back again next year.
